Best Wishes from London: On Friday 9th February 2024, James Brady of Tullywaltra along with his son Ciaran, both of north London, were visiting Bailieborough to see Family and Friends and they were staying at the Bailie Hotel, now under the new management of Austin Kelly of Bailieboro / Dublin, where they were made more than welcome. James and Austin have known one another since school days.
James left Bailieboro 65 years ago, to travel to London, to live and
work and while there, he met his wife Margaret from London. They have two sons,
Ciaran and Emmet. The whole family traveled to Ireland to holiday in Bailieboro
and West Cork, almost every year since they married in 1974.
Out of the family of John and Ellen
Brady— late of Drumanespic, Bailieborough, Co Cavan, James was the only one
that went to London. The other three children went to the U.S.A . The oldest
Terence went to Florida and is now deceased, Anna Marie Maddock nee, Brady is
also deceased, and lived in many US States.
The third sibling Tommy settled in
New York and has lived there for over 60 years, and is married to Betty and
have a grown up son Micheal . The youngest is Martha Keaskin nee Brady, of
Seeorum, Bailieborough.
James congratulated Austin on his new
venture and wished him many years of success. James and Ciaran were Austin’s,
first guests at the Bailie Hotel, where they spent three nights and were
treated like super stars. James said nothing was to much bother for Austin and
his staff.
They were offered wake-up calls with
tea and coffee followed by, full Irish breakfast. During the day at any return
to the hotel, refreshments were offered and also a gastronomic evening meal. In
the evenings, they were joined by James’s nephew, Karl Keaskin, his wife Nessa
and family, who are natives of the town.
James wishes Kathleen and Austin Kelly, lots of good luck in the Bailie Hotel, and hopes to return to the Bailie before the end of 2024. James Brady, London.

East Cavan Gaels GAA Club:Hurling News 12th February 2024
Senior; NHL
Division 3A, Cavan 3-19 Louth 1-19.
An excellent result and another very
entertaining encounter in Kingspan Breffni on Saturday last.
Again East Cavan Gaels men to the fore, Liam O’Brien with 1-10, Nicky Kenny with 1-2, Jack Barry linking well and Rory Farell and Jack McGuinness, the latter making his competitive intercounty debut enlightened with a last minute point to help secure the result, introduced midway through the second half.
A first win at this level in well
over a generation shows the improvement in Cavans overall performances while
keeping the scoreboard ticking over.
Well done to all.
Jack McGuinness; Another proud day for the club. Following James Tully’s debut last week
it was the turn this week of Jack McGuinness to make his Senior intercounty

the day to help secure the points.

East Cavan Gaels GAA Club: Hurling News 5th February 2024
Senior:NHL 3A Sligo 4-19 Cavan 3-18.
A four point defeat does not tell
half the story of a very entertaining Division 3A match in Sligo on Saturday
last. Cavan matched the hosts in a tentative first quarter but the Yeats men
put on the gas to move from 1 point up to 14 ahead at the resumption of the
second half. But Cavan, well embellished with East Cavan Gaels men, dug in deep
and in a game that could have slipped away the put the shoulder to the wheel to
out score the hosts 19-6 in the second half and with a bit of good fortune
might just have snatched a result at the death. ECGs James Tully and Rory
Farrell caused all manner of bother when introduced, while Canice and Nicky
were a handful particularly the former as he moved into full forward late on
while Liam O’Brien, making his competitive debut got his tally to 1-9 in an
impressive show while Jack Barrys switch back to the halfback line stemmed the
flow of Sligo attacks. Ultimately the second quarter surge got the home side
over the line but the Breffni men can be happy with their first start at this
new higher level of hurling from which they can learn more from.
Next up is a home game v Louth next
Saturday.
Special congratulations to James
Tully who made his Senior intercounty debut today. James has come the full way
with East Cavan Gaels from U6 to today and we are very proud of him and his
achievement. A talented dual GAA star who is also on the Cavan U20 football
squad who has had a great journey in both codes with both ourselves for hurling
andLaragh Utd for football. The dual
star is alive and well.
