Replay Required for Bailieborough Community School Senior Team:

Bailieborough Community Schools Senior Football team have to do it all again against Abbey School from Donegal Town. In an enthralling game Bailieboro Community School lead at half time in the Markey Cup Vocational Schools Semi Finals by 0-04 to 0-03. Abbey had some very strong players and clawed themselves into a lead with a minute to go but up stepped Rory Farrell who scored the equaliser. Full time finished 0-09 to 0-09. Extra Time followed and again at half time it was 0-11 to 0-11. There was nothing between the teams and it was too hard to call a winner and with the match going into injury time at a draw Bailieboro were awarded a close in free to win it. Unfortunately they were unable to convert the free and the referee blew the whistle. Final score 0-13 to 0-13.Well done to all the players and management and best of luck in the replay.

Bailieborough News Thursday 4th February 2016

Bailieborough News. February 4th  2016.  Matthew J. Cullen.

Rev. Damien Kivlehan R.I.P

It was with great sadness that the parish received the news of the death of Deacon Damien Kivlehan on Tuesday morning last. Damien was ordained a deacon on the 5th of October, 2014 and took up his appointment here in this parish the following month. Ill health, unfortunately, limited Damien’s involvement during the ensuing fourteen months but he assisted at weekend Masses in St. Anne’s and ministered to the residents of Fairlawns Nursing Home. His work here enabled us to add an extra slot for Baptisms on Saturday afternoons, he also attended and contributed to the Baptismal preparation meetings in recent months and always made sure to be present for Pastoral Council meetings. His friendly and warm personality will be sadly missed among us.

Damien was born in 1953 in Strandhill, Co. Sligo and he spent most of his working life in the Navy and the Army. He was involved in many local organisations in Cootehill, where he lived, and was a Town Councillor there serving as Lord Mayor in 2012. As a parish we extend our deepest sympathies to his wife Margaret, his daughters Connie, Carrie and Norrie, his sons Richard, Damian, Adrian, Keith and Garth, his mother Norrie, his brothers and sisters and to all his extended family and friends. May he rest in peace.
