Bailieborough Mid-Summer Festival and Town Events: There was a huge turnout in Bailieborough on Saturday evening last for the switching on of the town’s  Christmas Lghts, by well known local business owner Hubert Jennings. Well done to the hardworking Mid-Summer Festival and Town Events committee for putting up the Town lights and for organising such a terrific celebration for the families and children of our town. As always a huge turnout in the Annual Tractor Run in aid of the Children’s Ward in Cavan General Hospital which added huge colour and excitement to the evening, Wishing everyone a Happy Christmas and thanks for all your support !!

Christmas Fairs: Bailieborough Creative Hub are holding their last two Christmas Fairs in the newly renovated Bailieborough Courthouse. The penultimate one will take place on Sunday next, 7th December – 12pm to 5pm. The last Fair will take place on Sunday, 14th December – 12pm to 5pm.

Bailieborough Cancer Comfort Ltd—A Christmas Reflection: Prayers and Candle Lighting Ceremony led by Fr. Ultan McGoohan P.P., Rev. Ian Horner and Rev. John O’Donnell will take place on Sunday evening next, December 8th at 8.30pm at the Old Post Office, Main Street, Bailieborough. Everyone welcome.

 Bridge: Bridge Results for Tuesday, 26th  November.: First: Joy Jameson and Teresa O’Reilly. Second: Olive Kellett and Gemma McCabe. Best Gross: Tom Moran and John Mc Gahan. Third:  Betty Olwell and Noreen Maguire.  

Bridge takes place in the Hotel Bailie on every Tuesday evening and new members are always most welcome.

 Best Wishes and Good Luck:Best Wishes and Good Luck are extended to the Bailieborough Drama Group who have qualified for the All Ireland Drama Festival Finals which are taking taking place in St. Mary’s Theatre, Rossmore, Co. Cork from this Friday, December 6th to Sunday, December 8th. The Bailieborough Drama Group will be performing ‘The Shape’ by Tara Lovett on Friday evening in the Confined section of the Festival.
Before they go on their trip to West Cork, the group are performing ‘The Shape’, tonight, Wednesday, December 4th , in Mullagh Hall where they will be joined by Millrace Drama Group.

Bailieborough Branch: Irish Red Cross: The Christmas Community Dinner Party takes place in the Bailie Hotel on Wednesday, December 4th at 6.30pm. Anyone interested in attending is asked to contact Julie at 086 896 8928 or Helen at 087 753 1658. Admission is €10 per person.

Lakelands Arch Club—Christmas Party:  The local Lakeland Arch Club are holding their Christmas Party in the Hotel Bailie on Sunday afternoon next, December 8th, from 3.00pm to 5.00pm—with a special visitor expected on the day and an unusual mode of transport bringing him there!! Regretted Death:Deepest Sympathy is extended to wife Wilma and sons, Darran, Glen and Cliff on the death of Victor Whyte, Anne Street, Baileborough, Co. Cavan, who passed away peacefully, at Lisdarn on Tuesday, November 26th, 2019. Victor will be sadly missed by his wife, sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Victor’s Cremation Service took place at Lakelands Funeral Home, Cavan on Thursday afternoon, 28th  November .

St. Vincent DePaul—Annual Appeal: This appeal takes place on Saturday, December 7th  and Sunday, December 8th. St. Anne’s Conference offers support and friendship, on a confidential basis, to those in Bailieborough, Knockbride, Shercock and Tierworker, who request help and who are in need. Assistance is given towards the cost of food, heating, education and household related expenses. Our contact number is via Freephone 1800 677 677. As expected, Christmas time puts particular pressure on the Conference’s Finances and hence our appeal at this time. We are thankful for your support and generosity and we wish all our parishioners every blessing for Christmas and the year ahead.

Industrious Bailieborough:

Copies of Bailieborough Heritage Society book entitled ‘Industrious Bailieborough’ funded by the Peace IV Programme and distributed free, are now depleted. The Society plan to have a further quantity in print by December 7th. These will be on sale from committee members, Bailie Stores and Hall’s newsagents. An ideal stocking filler!!!

Family Time at your Library: ‘Family Time at Your Library’ is a nationwide celebration in Libraries in December. We’re inviting families to join us on Saturday, 7th  December for fun events for all ages. Amongst the activities will be, Puppet Shows, Art Workshops, Christmas Storytime and Treats!!

Timetable of Events: 11.00am to 12 noon: ‘The Christmas Adventure’, Puppet Show—Lively fun with the wonderful McCormick’s Puppets. Suitable for all ages. Booking essential at 042 9665779.

3.30pm to 5.15pm: Festive Art Workshop with the Artful Badger. Suitable for 5 to 10 year olds. Booking essential at 042 9665779.

Bailieborough Church of Ireland Annual Sale: The Bailieborough Church of  Ireland annual Christmas Sale will take place on Thursday, 12th  December – in the Church Hall from 6.00pm onwards (Please note change of day from previous years). All the usual stalls and more. Everybody welcome. Please come along and bring your friends.

Deepest Sympathy: Deepest Sympathy is extended to children, Noreen, Helena, Sandra and Aidan and their mother Christine, sons-in-law Martin, Damien and Ciaran., brothers Jim, Oliver and Declan, grandchildren Noah, Finn, Shea, Holly, Niall and Leah, sisters-in-law Christine Ann and Ann, nephews, nieces and extended family and friends of  Noel Tierney, Hillview House, Ardkeen, Cavan and formerly of        Bailieborough, Co. Cavan, who passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, November 28th, 2019.  Noel’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Anne’s Church on Sunday, December 1st  with burial afterwards in St. Anne’s Cemetery.

Citizen’s Information: The service takes place every Tuesday from 1.30pm to 2.30pm in the Library— providing information, advice and advocacy supports to everyone on Social welfare, employment, Pensions, Health, Tax etc… No appointment necessary.

Bailieborough Community School—Parents Association: At a very well attended Annual General Meeting of Bailieborough Community School’s Parents Association on Tuesday week last, the following people were elected: Chairperson—Louise Conefrey, Vice-Chairperson—Marie Kettle, Secretary—Beth McEntee, Assistant Secretary—Noeleen Walsh, Treasurer—Kevin Carolan,Assistant Treasurer—Katriona Keane. We wish them all well. The first meeting of the new committee will be on Tuesday, January 14th, 2020 in the Community School at 7.00pm.

Bailieborough Library: The Craft Group are still going strong with many great memories and hopefully more to come! Not just a craft group, but a place to come, have a cuppa, learn new talents, make new friends and feel very welcome. Everyone is welcome every Friday morning drop in from 10am to 1pm!
