Halloween ‘Fright Night’ is back!!: Bailieborough Mid-Summer Festival and Town Events are happy to announce that, the ‘Halloween Fright Night’ is back on this year. Following the terrific success of last year’s event, this year’s one takes place on Friday evening next, October 25th at the Chapel Carpark, at the Town Lake. Registration is from 6.00pm and the night promises to be one filled with Scary Walks, Music, Tea, Coffee and Treats. The best dressed family will get a free picture and visit to Santa’s Grotto in Bailieborough when turning on the Christmas Lights. For more information, please contact Tony at 086 3993 430.

Bailieborough Drama Group: Bailieborough Drama Group have been busy rehearsing their new one act play ” The Shape” by Tara Lovett for the last few months, in prepartion for the One Act Festival Circuit. Directed by Conor Sheridan, assistant director Liz O’Hanlon, cast Liam Daly, Fiona Clarke, Fergal Donnelly and Stage Manager, Mary Mc Donagh. They are opening the festival in Naas on Friday next, October 25th. Local audiences can catch them in Ramor Theatre, Virginia on Thursday, October 31st, where they will be joined on the night by Cornmill Theatre group with “The Aftermath” by Alice Lynch, directed by Ronan Ward. Tickets are available from the Ramor Theatre and we all wish them, the best of luck on the ‘Circuit’.

October—Month of The Rosary: The Rosary will be said at the Grotto on the Virginia Road for the month of October at 7.30pm, every evening except Saturdays. All are very welcome to come along and pray for their many intentions.

Bridge: Bridge takes place in the Hotel Bailie on every Tuesday evening and new members are always most welcome.

Bailieborough Group of Parishes: Services: Sunday 27th  October: Bailieborough 10:45am: Morning Prayer, Sunday Club, Youth Fellowship, followed by tea and coffee.

Knockbride 12noon, Morning Prayer and Sunday Club.

Bailieborough Mens/ Hen’s Shed: The Hen’s Shed currently meets each Wednesday evening in the Bexcourt Centre from 7:15 till 9pm, and each Thursday morning in the Library from 10 till 12 noon. Christianity Explored Course: A ‘Christianity Explored’ course will take place from

8-9pm at The Courthouse in Bailieborough, beginning on Wednesday 23rd  of October.  This is a 6-week course designed to give you time and space to think about the big questions of life and to explore the life Jesus.  Open to everyone and anyone who is interested, all you need to do is show up!  For more information, please contact Rev. Bailieborough Creative Hub: Bailieborough Creative Hub presents ‘A Haunting’–an

eerie, hair raising theatrical event, with ghostly tales and deathly poems in the Courthouse, Bailieborough on Thursday, October 31st at 7.00pm. Free admission.

Deepest Sympathy: Deepest Sympathy is extended to son Haydn, daughter-in-law Vivienne, sisters Joan and Hilary, extended family, neighbours and friends on the death of Sonia Griffin (nee Moore), Lower Main Street, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan and formerly Ballinamona, Woodenbridge, Co. Wicklow, who passed away suddenly at her residence on Monday, October 7th, 2019. Sonia was predeceased by her husband John. Sonia’s Funeral Service took place in Bailieborough Parish Church on Thursday, October 10th followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.

Bowls: Bailieborough Community Bowls continue in the Community Centre on Wednesday evenings at 8.00pm. New members—both male and female are most welcome.

‘Trick or Treat’ for Temple Street: ‘Trick or Treat’ for Temple St. is back this year and we will be holding our fundraiser in Tesco, Bailieborough on Friday the 25th and Saturday, 26th of October, from 10am -5pm on both days.  On Friday, we will be holding a Monster Cake Sale in store, where we will be having lots of fun with fancy dress, face painting and music and colouring for the kids and adults if they want to join in .. If anyone would would like to bake for the Cake Sale, all donations would be very gratefully recieved in store on the Thursday or Friday.

 On SatUrday, we will be hold a ‘Monster Raffle’ with some amazing prizes!! So dont miss out on all the fun and also don’t forget, all donations go to Temple St Children’s Hospital.  We are so close to making it to our 5 million euro target and with your help we can definitely deliver. So let’s do it for the kids !!

Irish Red Cross: Bailieborough Branch:  The Bailieborough Branch of the Irish Red Cross are organising a ‘First Aid Course’ in the Resource House, commencing on Monday. November 4th. Deepest Sympathy: Deepest Sympathy is extended to daughter Geraldine (Mc Mahon), son Thomas (USA), son in law Joe, daughter in law Monica, grandchildren Paul, Mairead, Niamh and Declan, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends on the death of Margaret (Peggy) Lynch (nee Mc Cluskey) Drumeague, Bailieborough, Co Cavan who passed away peacefully at Killmainhamwood Nursing Home on Saturday, October 12th, 2019. Peggy was. predeceased by her husband Matthias and son Sean. Peggy’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Brigid’s Church, Knockbride East on Tuesday, October 15th with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Computers for Farmers: Help is at hand for farmers, who need training in Basic Computers, On-line Herd Registration Form Filling, Internet and email, Farm Record Keeping, Health and Safety etc. Classes are free and are commencing on Monday evenings in Bailieborough Business Centre at 7pm. Walk, Jog, Run or Crawl! Run, walk, crawl or jog every Monday and Wednesday evenings at the Community Centre, Chapel Road, Bailieborough at 8pm.  It’s free!!!! And there is no catch! All newcomers welcome.  Also the Saturday morning Leisure Group Cycle is back and takes place on Saturday mornings leaving from the Community Centre, Bailieborough at 9.00AM. Please bring euros for coffee stop and all welcome.

John’s Funeral Service took place in Bailieborough Parish Church on Tuesday, October 15th with burial afterwards in the adjoining graveyard. .

Citizen’s Information: The service takes place every Tuesday from 1.30pm to 2.30pm in the Library— providing information, advice and advocacy supports to everyone on Social welfare, employment, Pensions, Health, Tax etc… No appointment necessary.

Looking forward to seeing you all at THE 16TH GALLANT 5KM/10KM CHALLENGE: In aid of St Christopher’s Hospice Cavan takes place on Saturday 26th October 2019.  This event will start and finish at MacSeains Bar, Cornafean and will be marked out and stewarded along the route to guide you along the way to whichever distance you decide to participate in. Main sponsors of this years event are Hyland Hardware, Ballyhaise, KORE Insulation, Kilnaleck and Dobson’s Hardware, Arvagh. Special thanks to them for their kind support.

Over the previous 15 years the Challenge has been an outstanding success raising €413,000 for this wonderful cause. There will be loads of surprises and craic on the day and it will be a fantastic day for the family. Entry fee on the day to participate in the Challenge is voluntary. Registration for the Challenge takes place from 12 noon and the Challenge kicks off at 1pm sharp.
