Bailieborough Community Choir:

 

Bailieborough Community Choir will be holding a ‘May Madness’ variety concert on Saturday next, May 28th at 8.30 in Bailieborough Community Centre with a donation from proceeds going to Bailieborough Cancer Comfort fund.

There is no charge at the door but there will be an opportunity to make a voluntary donation and there will also be a raffle.

There will be a number of young soloists, musicians, a comedy act and the choir will be performing some new pieces as well as a choral medley of Les Miserables !!

Please support the night as it will be a first time performance for many of the young people.

 

FIRST COMMUNION:

Congratulations to the children in 2nd Class in St. Felim’s National School who received their First Communion on Saturday last in St. Annes.

The children from St. Anne’s and The Model School will receive for the first time, their First Holy Communion on Saturday next, 28th May in St. Anne’s Church at 11am.

 

May is Mary’s Month:

The Rosary will be recited at the Grotto on the Virginia Road every evening during the month of May at 7.30pm. No Rosary on Saturdays. Everyone welcome to offer prayer for the sick of our Parish as well as any private intention.

 

Bailieboro Celtic AFC:

The A.G.M. of Bailieboro Celtic AFC takes place in the Club Rooms, The Vale on Friday 17th June at 8:00 pm .All member’s nomination’s and motions should be made in writing, proposed and seconded and posted to Sec. Eric McCullagh, Kilnacross, before 3rd June 2016.

 

Bailieborough School of Music

would like to thank everyone who helped make our fundraising concert for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin a very big success. Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket, attended on the night or made a donation. Our raffle was very generously supported and we really appreciated the spot prizes received from La Mirage, Fox’s Bar, Lydia Uceda (Caramelos Lydia), Eugene and Patricia Brady (Medal Plaque Displays) Geraldine Cosgrove, Muriel Lambert, Norma Sherlock, Georgina Rogers, Angela Pidgeon, Consuelo Halpin, Maggie Donohoe, Marie Logan and the others who dropped items off anonymously. Thank you to our teachers in particular David McGauran, Liam McCabe and Laurina Cooney who performed on the night. Thank you to our Musical Director, Micheal Gaskin who worked very hard as always to put the show together. We are very thankful to Bailieborough Community School, for the venue and support we received from the Principal and staff. Finally thank you to the members of our Junior and Senior Bands for their performances on the night and especially the members of ‘The Groove’ who reformed for the occasion, you were magnificent. A fantastic total of €1965.50 was raised to date.

Deepest Sympathy:

Deepest Sympathy is extended to the Family, Relatives and Friends of Mrs Philomena Lynch, Dromore, Bailieborough whose Funeral Mass took place in St. Annes on Thursday morning last followed by interment in St. Anne’s Cemetery.

 

The Vale N.S. (St Felim’s)

were recently crowned winners in the Connacht/Ulster Region for their water conservation project, under the Green Flag School’s scheme. Four children from the school were chosen to receive the award on behalf of the school. Ms Purcell, from the teaching staff, took the four to Dublin. They were very excited to see their photo in the Irish Times newspaper on the following day. The students were Garry Leddy, Soirse Cooney, Caoimhe Clarke and Barry Cahill. Well done to all concerned.

The Bailieborough Bridge Club AGM was held on Tuesday, May 3rd at 8.00pm in The Bailie Hotel.  Prior to the AGM, the outgoing President, Betty Olwell made the presentation to the winners of her Prize, namely, Tom Moran and John McGahan, and to all the other prize winners named above.  The incoming President, Noreen Maguire complimented Betty on her excellent year and wished all the members a healthy and happy summer.  She said she looked forward to the resumption of Bridge on October 4th at 7.30pm. MASS FOR THE SICK:

To coincide with the beginning of the Kilmore Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes, a special Mass for the Sick will take place in St. Anne’s Church tonight, Wednesday, 25th May at 7pm.  The sacrament of the sick will be administered during the Mass to those who feel the need of its grace at this time.

 

IRISH HORSE CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY LIMITED:

Forthcoming ‘Blue Plaque’ Unveiling:

As part of Cavan County Council’s 1916/2016 Centenary programme of events and in association with the Ulster History Circle, a Blue Plaque to honour Francis Sheehy Skeffington will be unveiled on Thursday June 9th at 7.30.pm. Dr Micheline Sheehy Skeffington, granddaughter of Francis and Hanna Sheehy Skeffington will  unveil the plaque at Bailieborough Library.

 East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Hurling News 23rd May 2016

Under 6/8/10; We had a good evening in bright sunshine in Cloghan on Wednesday last as our Under 8s and 10s had good games v Carrick, Blayney and Clontibret. Under 10 tournament coming up in June. Carrick Under 10s will come to us on Wednesday for a challenge.

under 12; We host Castlerahan this coming Wednesday at 7 as we prepare for the U12 Championship.

Under 14; Excitement is now building for National Féile na nGael which is just under a month away as we continue preparations for our trip to Tipperary.

Our Monaghan league game v Truagh and this week’s game v Carrick have been postponed until local football championship is finished to avoid clashing.

Under 16/18; New players are especially welcome. Equipment supplied while learning the game.

Inter county news; Celtic Challenge;

Heartbreak for the boys as two very late Monaghan goals snatched victory from their grasp on Wednesday last. Next up it’s Longford this Wednesday. Best of luck to all involved.

Lucky first goal; Scratch cards will be distributed to all players and parents in the next week. Please support when you can as this is our major fundraiser for this year.

 

Hurling training times and venues; Under 6/8/10; Kingscourt group;

Training will move to Wednesdays from this coming Wednesday from 6 at Kingscourt Stars pitch.

Bailieborough group U6/8/10;

Training will remain on Friday at the Community School pitch. U6/8 from 6-7 and No Under 10 this week as lads will play Carrick on Wednesday.

What a finish a win would be to a very successful season. Well done to all players and management and we look forward to watching the team in Division 2 next season.

Congratulations:

Congratulations to Bailieborough native, Leanne Kiernan who scored the winning goal for Shelbourne Ladies in the Continental Tyres Women’s National League Cup Final against UCD Waves, held in Richmond Park, Dublin on Sunday last. This is the girl’s first piece of silverware as a Senior Club at National League level. After a hard fought game the Shels came out on top by 3—2, with Leanne getting the winner.

Leanne and Shels can still go on to become double champions should they conquer Wexford Youths WFC in the Continental Tyres Women’s National League Play-Off on Sunday next, May 22 at Tallaght Stadium.

  East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Hurling News 16th May 2016

Under 6/8/10; We had a successful U8/10 training blitz in Bailieborough on Wednesday last. These sessions are great opportunities for all of our players to meet up locally and prepare for blitzes etc. Our next trip is to Cloghan on Wednesday for an U8 and U10 blitz with lots of other clubs. Should be a great evening ahead.

Our summer hurling schedule will mean more blitzes /games and less training with most blitzes taking place on Wednesdays as this is the designated hurling day for hurling in the county.

Under 12; We host Castlerahan this coming Wednesday and travel to them the following week as we prepare for the U12 Championship.

Under 14; Commiserations to our side as they went down to a very competitive Cootehill in the Cavan league semi-final on Sunday.

The next round of the Monaghan league sees the lads play Truagh Gaels on Monday 16th May.

National Féile is just over a month away as we continue preparations for our trip to Tipperary.

Under 16/18; New players are especially welcome. Equipment supplied while learning the game.

Inter county news; Celtic Challenge;

Congratulations to Rory Farrell, Cian McEntee, Kyle McGuinness and Jack Barry on their participation in the inter county U17 Celtic Challenge competition midweek victory over Louth in round 2. Round 3 sees the lads play Monaghan this coming Wednesday.

Minor;

Jack, Kyle and Rory played for Cavan in the Ulster Minor Division 2 final on Saturday last v Monaghan. David and Paul Rogers are also eligible for this squad but are also part of the Cavan Minor football squad so were unavailable for this game. We hope they get the opportunity to represent their county at hurling also.

 

South Ulster; The South Ulster (Cavan and Fermanagh)  U14 and U16 squads have plenty of ECG GAA men on both squads as they have their first competitive outing next weekend, best of luck to all involved.

Lucky first goal;

East Cavan Gaels GAA Club are delighted to announce our major club fundraiser for this year- Lucky First Goal in the All Ireland Senior Hurling Final 2016. For just €2 you could win the top prize of €500 if you select the winning scratch card with the correct time of the first goal scored in the Final. We continue to rely on our local communities for our funding for our 7 club teams, from Under 6 up to Minor (U18) and our National Féile na nGael representatives who travel to Tipperary in June which will be the third year in a row that we have provided the Féile experience to our club players. Cards are available from all ECG GAA players and committee members. Get scratching and good luck to all!

Training will move to Wednesdays in the next few weeks. This coming Wednesday we will be in Cloghan with our U8s and U10s so no U6 training in Kingscourt this week.

Bailieborough group U6/8/10;

Training will remain on Friday at the Community School pitch U6/8 from 6-7 and U10 from 6-7.30 but priority will be given to the Wednesday blitzes.

Both sessions are open to anyone from the region to attend.

The annual Kilmore Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes takes place this year from 27th May to 1st June. Bookings should be made as soon as possible – because places are limited – through the Kilmore Pastoral Centre, Cullies, Cavan (St Patrick’s College) or

Smiley O’Reilly—Presentation Evening:

On Tuesday evening last, 3rd May there was a memorial Mass in Tierworker for Sean Smiley O’Reilly followed by light refreshments in the Hall where there was a presentation to both the Bailieborough and Kingscourt Cancer Funds of proceeds raised from the Smiley O’Reilly Memorial Tractor run which was held on Sunday, April 3rd.
Both charities received a cheque for €4070 from the O’Reilly family.
The organisers of the Smiley O’Reilly Memorial Run and parents of Sean would like to thank everyone who attended the Tractor Run on 3rd April. An incredible 327 vehicles took part on the Run. They would also like to thank everyone who helped out in any way, all the marshals, the women who baked, donated and served the food, anyone who donated a spot prize, The Royal Breffni for the use of their field, Tierworker Community for the use of their Hall and the Order of Malta for attending on the day as well.
They hope everyone had had an enjoyable day and hope to see you all again next year.

Congratulations to the senior players on beating Rathkenny from division 2 in the semi-final of the Fitzsimons cup on Friday last. The team won 1—0 after extra time with Ben Hannigan getting the all-important goal from the penalty spot. A great team performance and made all the better by the record of not being beaten at home since the first game of the league last August.  Best of luck lads in the final.

We are delighted to be hosting an FAI Summer Soccer Schools Camp again this year for boys and girls aged between 6 and 14 years of age. Congratulations and well done to the teachers, staff and pupils of St. Felim’s, The Vale who won a National Award at this year’s Irish Water Green-Schools “Water of the Year” awards. The awards recognise the dedication and innovation shown by schools that have been working on the Water theme, and are receiving the Green Flag for Water this year. St Felim’s National School in Bailieborough, County Cavan, took home the award the Regional Award for Ulster/Connaught for their success in reducing their school’s water usage, and for raising awareness about water issues.

LAVEY TO LOURDES CYCLE:

Five people from the diocese, including Stephen Gregory from Bailieborough, are undertaking a cycle from Lavey to Lourdes to help raise much needed funds to bring wheelchair and assisted pilgrims to the shrine as part of the Kilmore Diocesan Pilgrimage.  Those who are doing this cycle would like to invite all cyclists to join them on the first stage of the cycle to Lourdes.  The cycle starts at 8am on Sunday next, May 15th from Lower Lavey Community Centre.  It continues to Ballyjamesduff, Castlepollard and finishes in Carlow town.  Why not try just part of the way?   East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Hurling News 9th May 2016

Under 6/8/10; We finally got our outdoor season up and running when we hosted Carrickmacross in Kingscourt on Wednesday last. Thanks to Kingscourt Stars for the use of their facilities. This coming Wednesday we will have an in-club blitz where all our club U6/8/10 players will play against each other in Bailieborough, again thanks to Bailieborough GAA for the use of their facilities. The following week we will head to Cloghan for another big outdoor blitz.

Our summer hurling schedule will mean more blitzes /games and less training with most blitzes taking place on Wednesdays as this is the designated hurling day for hurling in the county. We have already had over 30 weeks indoors so the lads are ready to demonstrate their skills in the games environment outdoors.

Under 12; We will now schedule a number of challenge games over the next month to get these lads ready for the Under 12 Championship which begins on Wednesday 8th June.

Under 14; The final round of the Under 14 league is this coming week when we play Woodford Gaels with the semi-finals down for next Sunday and the final on Sunday 22nd May.

Under 16/18; New players are especially welcome. Equipment supplied while learning the game.

Celtic Challenge; Congratulations to Rory Farrell, Cian McEntee, Kyle McGuinness and Jack Barry on their participation in the inter county U17 Celtic Challenge competition midweek v Sligo. Round 2 this Wednesday v Louth.

Lucky first goal; East Cavan Gaels GAA Club are delighted to announce our major club fundraiser for this year- Lucky First Goal in the All Ireland Senior Hurling Final 2016. An application for Planning Permission will be submitted to Cavan County Council over the coming week outlining proposed future works to St. Annes Church and to the Parish Centre. The plans will be available to view in the Church within the next few weeks.

Self Defence and Kick Boxing Classes:

 Self-defence martial arts classes’ takes place in Bailieborough Leisure Centre on Wednesday nights at 8pm. It is a practical self-defence class in which you do not need to be flexible or fit in order to train therefore it is for everyone. It is a fun way to learn self-defence and get fit by doing so.
First class is free to all beginners and it has an age limit of over 14 year olds.

Bailieborough Walking Group:

Bailieborough Walking Group commence their 2016 walking season by hosting four walks during this year’s Cavan Walking Festival. On Saturday April 30th, two walks commence at 11am at Bailieborough Business Centre, Shercock Rd.  A 3km, 1 hour,

easy Nature Trail, ideal for families with children. The second walk is a 8km, 1.5 hour, moderate Forest Walk.

On Tuesday May 3rd an 8km moderate walk commences at 7.15pm at Cabra School entrance to Dun a Rí, Shercock Rd., Kingscourt.

On Thursday May 5th a 5km, 1.5 hour moderate walk commences at 7.15pm at the picnic area, Lough an Leagh. All welcome.

 

Bailieborough Cancer Comfort LTD:

CONFIRMATION:

On Saturday last, Bishop Leo O’Reilly administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to 74 children from the Parish in St. Annes Chapel. Although cold, the weather held good for the children’s big day. Thank you to their teachers especially Ms. Fallon, Ms Traynor and Ms Keegan for having the children so well prepared, the St. Anne’s School Choir, under the direction of Ms McCabe, Ms O’Sullivan and Michael Gaskin, and the principals and staff of the schools in the local are who are always so co-operative and helpful. Thanks also to the St. Annes Sacristan, May Cassidy, caretaker Sadie Clarke, St. Felim’s secretary, Marie Brady and also the members of the CE Scheme who prepared the Church for the event.

We are delighted to be hosting an FAI Summer Soccer Schools Camp again this year for boys and girls aged between 6 and 14 years of age. Self Defence and Kick Boxing Classes:

 Self-defence martial arts classes’ takes place in Bailieborough Leisure Centre on Wednesday nights at 8pm. It is a practical self-defence class in which you do not need to be flexible or fit in order to train therefore it is for everyone. It is a fun way to learn self-defence and get fit by doing so.

The lads beat Monaghan Harps and were defeated by Castleblayney in the opening rounds of the Monaghan League.

Picture from the Boys FAI 5-a-side soccer tournament today held in Cootehill. The Model School boys won all 4 group games and topped their group but lost out to a very strong Ballyhaise team in the 1/4 finals.

The ‘Bailieborough Forest Walk’ will take place on Saturday 30th of April.

Under 6/8/10; Training continues indoors in Kingscourt and Bailieborough as the weather and pitch conditions remain unsuitable for moving outdoors yet. We had a challenge v Carrick on the astro at Bailieboro Celtic on Wednesday last. A good evenings hurling had by all. Lots more blitzes when the pitch and weather conditions improve.

Above; The Under 10 squad who hosted Carrick on Wednesday last.

Under 12; Unfortunately Wednesday’s game v St.Feilims was postponed. This coming Wednesday we play Mullahoran in the Spring League.

Under 14; The lads went down to a narrow one point defeat to Cootehill in the opening round of the Cavan Hurling League on Saturday last.

They begin the Monaghan League on Monday when they host Monaghan Harps in Kingscourt at 7.30 pm.

The Annual General Meeting of ‘Cavan Birdwatch’ will be held on Thursday, 21st April in the Bailieborough Business Centre.

The meeting will commence at 7 p.m. and will be followed by a talk at 8 p.m.  by Olivia Crowe from Birdwatch Ireland entitled, ‘Tracking the fortunes of our Greenland White-fronted Goose’. This is a free event and all are welcome—especially new members.

Relaghabeg Fundraising Committee:

Come and Test your Knowledge while helping to raise funds for the general service and maintenance of the Relaghbeg Defibrillator. The Defibrillator is for the use of the community hopefully it won’t need to be used but it is peace of mind knowing that it is there and is in proper working order if needed. We are holding a Table Quiz on Friday, April 15th at 9.00pm in Smyth’s Bar, Relaghbeg to raise funds to help keep the servicing of this life saving equipment up to date. A Table of four persons costs €40. Plenty of spot prizes on the night. It Promises to be a fun night for all. Please come and support.

Breifne Historical Societies:

talk entitled ‘Victoria Cross Recipients from County Cavan‘ will take place on Tuesday April 19th in Bailieborough Library at 8pm.. This talk is based on an essay in the 2015 journal of Cumann Seanchais Bhreifne. Initially the date was set for April 14th but due to a clash with the launch of the 1916 exhibition at Cavan County Museum the date was changed to April 19th

Bailieboro Celtic AFC:

We are delighted to be hosting an FAI Summer Soccer Schools Camp again this year for boys and girls aged between 6 and 14 years of age. This year’s camp runs from Monday 4th July till Friday 8th July between 10.30 am and 3.00 pm. As part of the programme for the Cavan Walking Festival, a walk will be held in Bailieborough.

The ‘Bailieborough Forest Walk’ will take place on Saturday 30th of April.

Under 6/8/10; Training continues indoors in Kingscourt and Bailieborough as the weather and pitch conditions remain unsuitable for moving outdoors yet. The Under 10s will play a challenge v Carrick on Wednesday next at the astro, Bailieboro Celtic AFC, at the Vale from 6-7. Players to meet from 5.45pm.

Under 12; Unfortunately Wednesdays game v Annalee was postponed. This coming Wednesday we play St. Felim’s in the Spring League.

Under 14; A huge congratulations to our U14 squad who qualified for National Feilé na nGael which this year will be in “The home of hurling” Tipperary after reaching the Cavan Feilé final v Cootehill on the 3G at Breffni on Saturday last. Both sides will now represent Cavan hurling on the 17th-19th June. Well done to the players and management of Kathryn, Maurice, Sharon and Brendan.

This coming week we play Castleblayney in the Monaghan league on Wednesday tbc.

Bailieboro Vintage Car and Tractor Run:

Bailieboro Masonic lodge,
are holding a, Vintage Car and Tractor Run, in aid of the East Cavan Special Abilities Swim Club, on Monday the 2nd of May, commencing in the Tesco car park. Registration will take place in the Masonic Hall, Market Square at 2o’clock. Details of the route will be given on receiving the twenty euro per vehicle entry fee. We’re also going to be stopping at a local historian for a cup of tea and a browse around some of his artefacts. One of the Special Abilities children will be starting the run with the blast of an air horn.

Tesco have kindly offered part of the car park and a voucher, which will be used to buy the food for the day. There is also a prize for the oldest car, which is donated by Eugene Markey and the oldest tractors prize is donated by Ronnie Martin of Martin’s Garage. FIRST COMMUNION:

The children in 2nd Class in St. Felim’s National School will receive their First Communion on Saturday, 21st May and the children in St. Anne’s and The Model School will receive for the first time on Saturday, 28th May.  Both Masses will take place in St. Anne’s Church on those dates at 11am.

 

 

BAILIEBOROUGH SOCIAL DAY CENTRE:

Bus leaves from the Community Centre at 10am on Wednesday 6 April to go to the Visitors Centre in the GPO for tour of the 1916 Display.  All members and new members welcome.  The committee thank all who supported the Christmas Day Swim for their generosity which raised a total of €1,323 and goes towards the activities at the Day Centre.

 

 

GARDENING IN 1916:

To commemorate the 1916 Rising, a talk by Barry Kavanagh on ‘The Heritage of Gardening in 1916’ will take place in Fox’s Lounge on Monday 11 April at 8 pm. The talk will include varieties of flowers and vegetables grown in 1916 and the methods used in their cultivation.  All welcome.

Under 6/8/10; We return training this week after the Easter break. Unfortunately the weather is not helping us to get outside yet so this week we will continue indoors in Kingscourt on Thursday and Bailieborough on Friday.

Under 12; We are scheduled to play Annalee Gaels this coming Wednesday in the 3rd round of the Spring League.

Under 14; The Cavan Feilé na nGael hurling competition is scheduled for next Saturday on the 3G. Following our two successful years in hosting Feilé we now try to qualify for this year’s event in Tipperary and Waterford.

County squads; We have 5 ECG GAA representatives on the Cavan Under 17 Celtic Challenge hurling squad for 2016. Best of luck to them.

Thank you to all those who assisted in preparing and celebrating the Holy Week and Easter liturgies in St. Anne’s Bailieborough, especially the Parish Pastoral Council and Liturgy subcommittee, the sacristan and caretaker, the choirs and their directors Thomas Hanley, Sean Reilly and Derek Eakins, the musicians, the Ministers of the Word, the Ministers of the Eucharist, the Apostolic Society, the altar servers and the parents and children of the First Communion classes who participated on Holy Thursday.

Deepest Sympathy:

Deepest sympathy is extended to the family, relatives and friends of Liam Heery, Wilton, whose funeral took place on Thursday last and also to the family, relatives and friends of Rose Smyth nee Sheanon, formerly of Drumanespic, who died recently in Annacloy, Downpatrick, Co. Down.

Bailieborough Group of Parishes:

Thanks to all those who worked so hard to make the Easter weekend a special one in the Bailieborough Group of Parishes. There was a lovely reflective atmosphere in Shercock on Good Friday, and again in Mullagh on Saturday evening. An amazing breakfast made up for slightly icy hands at the Sunrise service in Knockbride. There were more foodie treats in the hall after a fun service in Bailieborough. Congrats to baby Jamie on his baptism. And it was all topped off with an amazing rainbow over Bailieborough on Sunday afternoon.

 East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Hurling News 28th March 2016

Under 6/8/10; No training this week. Hurling/Camogie/Football/Rounders Camp from Easter Tuesday in Kingscourt (see poster below). We hope to get outside hurling in early April.

Under 12; Round 2 of the Spring League saw ECG host Castlerahan where we ran out winners in a good entertaining game in difficult weather conditions. The next round will be on Wednesday April 6th.

 

Under 14/16/18; outdoor training has now returned.

Training for all ages from Under 12 to Under 18 on Wednesday 7pm at Bailieborough GAA grounds St. Anne’s Park.

The clocks have now changed and we now have natural light for outdoor hurling at last, we are just waiting on the Spring to arrive as well!.

New players are especially welcome. Equipment supplied while learning the game.

You must be registered with East Cavan Gaels GAA Hurling Club to play hurling with East Cavan Gaels. Forms available at training.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade:

The Saint Patrick’s Day Parade on Thursday, March 17th in Bailieborough will commence at 2.30pm—starting at the Community School on the Virginia Road. All participants and stewards are asked to assemble at the Church Car Park, Virginia Road, at 1.30pm. This year the parade will have ‘The 1916 Rising’ as its theme. There are prizes for the best 1916 themed Float and there are also prizes for the Best Dressed 1916 themed Window display. So come along and celebrate our National Holiday and enjoy the parade.

 

Heritage Society Tour:

Bailieborough Heritage Society are planning a short tour of the Bailieborough area commencing at Bailieborough Business Centre at 11am on Saturday next, March 19th.

Car pool at the Business Centre and drive to the Castle Lake car park. Walking

to the Castle ruins and the Marist Brothers Graves. Next stop by car will be Corglass Presbyterian Church and graveyard. Driving on to Drumeague crossroads to view the newly erected historic sites map and information sign. Exploring some of the historic locations in this corner of East Knockbride. The duration of the tour will be approximately four hours. Bring a packed lunch, refreshments, sturdy walking boots and appropriate clothing for the weather conditions on the day. Members of the Heritage Society will talk about each location and if further details is required contact Alison on 087 7129113.

 

 

Easter and Holy Week Ceremonies at St. Annes: Vigil Mass

on Saturday, March 19th at 7.00pm and Sunday, March 20th at 10.00am. The Blessing of Palms will take place outside the Church at the beginning of each Mass. Those who wish to join the procession into the Church are asked to remain outside before Mass.  Holy Thursday, March 24th —Chrism Mass in the Cathedral of St. Patrick and St. Felim, Cavan at 11.30am. Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 8.00pm in St. Annes.

Good Friday, March 25th: Celebration of the Lord’s Passion at 3.00pm. Prayer around the Cross at 8.00pm.

Easter Vigil: Holy Saturday at 9.00pm. Easter Sunday: Mass of the Lord’s Resurrection at 10.00am.

 

Confessions:

A special Reconciliation Service for Lent and Easter will take place in St. Anne’s Church on Sunday next, March 20th at 7.30pm. A number of Priests from the neighbouring parishes will be present to hear Confessions. Confessions will also take place in St. Anne’s on Holy Saturday from 12 noon to 3.00pm.

Congratulations:

A young girl from Bailieborough has been honoured for service as a volunteer at the Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards Gala.

Annagh McBreen from Drumamuck, Bailieborough and daughter of Martin and Sinead McBreen was one of only two highly recommended finalists in the Junior Awards category.

Annagh is a 1st year student at St Aidan’s Comprehensive College in Cootehill and has a keen interest in volunteering and donates a lot of her time at Down syndrome Ireland. Well done Annagh!!

Under 6/8/10; The lads had a good outing in Carrick on Saturday last when our Under 6/8/10s got some game time outside at last on the astro at the Phoenix with our friends from Carrick.

We now take a short break for the St. Patrick’s weekend and Easter holidays.

Tanagh Outdoor Education and Training Centre

will be running a Kayak Skills Camp on the 29th-31st March from 10am-2pm for 9-16 year olds. The camp will introduce paddlers to the basic kayak skills. Participants will be required to travel each day to and from the centre.
