Holy Week and Easter Ceremonies:

Thank you to all those who assisted in preparing and celebrating the Holy Week and Easter Liturgies in St. Annes, especially the Parish Pastoral Council, the sacristan and caretaker, the choirs and their directors Thomas Hanley and Derek Eakins, the Ministers of the Word, the Ministers of the Eucharist, the Apostolic Society, the altar servers and the parents and children of the First Communion classes who participated on Holy Thursday.

A special word of thanks to Marie Guckian, Geraldine O’Reilly, Mella Denning, Ciaran Purcell and Sean O’Reilly who gave their time to prepare the Church, Rose Fitzpatrick and Sheila Clarke who organised the various ministers, the members of the C.E. Scheme, those of you who attended in such large numbers and all who helped in any way.

 

Bailieborough ‘Lend a Hand:

Hopefully, winter has been eclipsed and replaced by the renewal and growth of spring. If the wear and tear of advancing years is causing you to worry about all those outdoor chores and necessary gardening jobs—well don’t!!! Our volunteers are ready, willing and eager to look after your jobs. To avail of this service just ring Ann at 042 9694825 from 9am to 2pm, Monday to Friday. She will arrange our helpers to look after those chores for you at your convenience.

 

The Monthly Holy Hour hosted by ‘Direction for Our Times 

will take place on Thursday evening next, April 9th,  in St. Anne’s Church commencing at 8pm.  All welcome.

 

Welcome News:

It has recently been announced that €107,000 has been allocated as part of the Roads Programme 2015 for road works on the Cavan road from Main Street, Bailieborough to Bailieborough Foundry. This is very welcome news as the road surface in that area has deteriorated badly over the last few years.

 

Free Study Space:

Students may avail of a free study space at the Library, Market Square during Library opening hours except 10am to

1.15pm Wednesday and Friday. Late opening Tuesday and Thursday until 8.30pm. Spacious and warm with free WIFI. Phone 042 9665779 for further details.

‘Abair Leat’ Irish Conversational Group, Tuesdays from 1pm-2pm. Learning Irish for fun. Tea and coffee served. All welcome, free admission.

BAILIEBOROUGH WOMEN’S GROUP:

The Bailieborough Women’s Group will meet on Friday next, 10th April, in the Community Centre from 2 to 4pm and fortnightly there after. This term will involve relaxation and exercise. New members most welcome.

Relaghbeg Fundraising Committee – Table Quiz – Saturday, 11th April

The Relaghbeg Fundraising Committee are holding a ‘Table Quiz’ on Saturday night next, 11th April at 9.30pm in Smyth’s Bar, Relaghbeg, Bailieboro, Co. Cavan.  All proceeds in aid of Enable Ireland- Children Services North East. 4 persons per team, €10 entry fee per person. Prizes on the night. It promises to be a fun night for all. Your support is greatly appreciated.

 

 

Bailieborough Walking Group: 2015 Walking Season:
Bailieborough Walking Group commence their 2015 walking season on Saturday, May 2nd. This walk will be a community walk and it will be part of the Cavan Walking Festival in association with Cavan Sports Partnership. It will commence at 11am at the Bailieborough Business Centre, Shercock Road and proceed to the forest and Castle Lake. There will be three separate walks. A short walk for parents and children, a moderate walk of about 5 – 6km and a long walk of about 10km. Refreshments in the Business Centre on completion.

 

First Communion Parents Committee:

Meeting on Monday, April 13th in the Parochial House at 8pm. The final Preparation Mass takes place on Saturday, April 18th at 7.00pm.

 

Cubs/ Scouts:

Drumkeery Group Water Scheme:

wish to advise that water mains flushing will continue until Saturday, April 11th. Mains flushing is undertaken to improve the water quality supplied to their customers. Customers in areas where flushing will take place will notice a temporary discolouration to their water but this discolouration will clear when allowed to run for a few minutes. Water users may also experience reduced pressure for the duration of these works. Maintenance work is scheduled in the Knockbride area until Wednesday, April 8th and the Vale between Thursday, April 9th and Saturday, April 11th. Should any problems arise, please contact the Maintenance Officer, Peter O’Reilly at 086 0466188. Your co-operation and understanding is greatly appreciated and we regret any inconvenience caused.

 

Social Day Centre:

The Bailieborough Social Day Centre’s next get-together is on Wednesday, April 8th from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, in the Community Centre, Chapel Road. All members are asked to attend for the usual activities and new members are very welcome.

 

 

Computers for beginners:

Classes at Bailieborough Business Centre. Do you want to learn the basics of using a computer? These classes will help you with the basics of starting to use a computer, from turning it on, typing a letter, using the internet and more. All you ever wanted to know, but were afraid to ask. Bailieborough Gardening Group: ‘Trip to Powerscourt:

Join the Bailieborough Gardening Group on a trip to beautiful Powerscourt Gardens on Sunday, April 26th. See thousands of tulips in bloom in the gardens and there will be time for shopping in the Garden Pavilion. Tea/coffee and scones on arrival included in cost. The bus will leave Bailieborough at 8.30am from Tesco and return at approx. 6pm. The cost of the trip is €25 for garden group members and €30 for non-members. St. Vincent DePaul Shop:

The St. Vincent DePaul Shop has re-located to Main Street (where Moynagh’s Supermarket used to be). The new shop will afford the organisation the opportunity to provide customers with a greater range of clothes and goods. Once again, the organisation expresses their gratitude for the generous response to their recent appeal for the new shop.

 

Cormeen Golf Charity Outing:

The Society ran a very successful Charity Golf outing in Virginia on March 14th and 15th. The Committee wish to thank all who played, bought tickets or donated to the outing. The Society raised €4,500 for two worthy charities—Barretstown for Sick Children and the Bailieborough Cancer Comfort Fund.

East Cavan Gaels GAA Hurling – Club News 7th April 2015:

U6/8/10; Last week’s blitz in Blayney fell victim to the Irish Spring so we will reschedule for a later date.

Training in Kingscourt moves to Wednesdays outdoors, at last!, in Kingscourt Stars GAA grounds 6-7.30pm. We thank Kingscourt Stars for the use of their facilities.

Bailieborough group scheduled to go outside this Friday also at the Community School pitch 6-7.30. Players will receive a confirmation text.

Blitz Wednesday 15th in Kingscourt.

U12; The next round of the league sees the boys head to Ballyjamesduff to play Castlerahan on Wednesday at 7pm.

U14/16/18; Under 16 league begins next week v Lisbellaw.
