Easter and Holy Week Ceremonies at St. Annes:

Holy Thursday, April 2ndChrism Mass in the Cathedral of St. Patrick and St. Felim, Cavan at 11.30am. Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 8.00pm in St. Annes.

Good Friday, April 3rd: Celebration of the Lord’s Passion at 3.00pm. Prayer around the Cross at 8.00pm.

Easter Vigil: Holy Saturday at 9.00pm. Easter Sunday: Mass of the Lord’s Resurrection at 10.00am.

Holy Week Ceremonies in Killann and Shercock: Holy Thursday, April 2nd: Mass of the Lord’s Supper in Shercock at 7.30pm.

Good Friday, April 3rd: Passion Ceremonies in Shercock at 5.00pm and Killann at 8.00pm.

Holy Saturday, April 4th: Vigil Ceremony in Shercock at 10pm.

Easter Sunday, April 5th: Mass of the Resurrection at 10am in Killann and 11.30am in Shercock.

 

Parents Association   – Bailieborough Community School:

Thank you to John Ed Sheanon, and members of the Bailieborough Walking committee, parents, students, Super Valu for sponsoring water and everybody who took part in our fundraising walk, to raise funds for the upgrade of our school canteen, amount received €565.00.

Bailieborough ‘Lend a Hand’:

Hopefully, winter has been eclipsed and replaced by the renewal and growth of spring. If the wear and tear of advancing years is causing you to worry about all those outdoor chores and necessary gardening jobs—well don’t!!! Our volunteers are ready, willing and eager to look after your jobs. To avail of this service just ring Ann at 042 9694825 from 9am to 2pm, Monday to Friday. She will arrange our helpers to look after those chores for you at your convenience.

Thursday, April 2nd — Maundy Thursday—Bailieborough: Joint Service with Trinity Presbyterian Church at Trinity Church at 8.00pm. All welcome.

Friday, 3rd April—Good Friday—Shercock, 6.00pm and Mullagh at 8.00pm.

Sunday, April 5thEaster Sunday—Sunrise Service in Knockbride at 6.50am followed by breakfast in the Hall.

Easter Service in Bailieborough at 10am followed by Tea and Coffee in the Hall.

Monday, April 6th at 12 noon—Church Family Picnic and Games in the grounds of the Rectory in Bailieborough. Food, fun and games for all ages, just remember to bring your lunch and a blanket to sit on!!

All of these services and gatherings are open to everybody.

 

Bailieborough Community Alert: Annual General Meeting:

At a very well attended AGM on Monday, March 23rd, the following election of officers and committee took place: Chairperson—Niamh Smyth, Vice-Chairperson—Thomas Rogers, Joint Treasurers—Seamus Sheridan and Vincent Cooney, Secretary—Adrian Cahill, PRO—Kevin Carolan. Members of committee: Eamon Donnelly, Maura Smyth, Rose McCabe, Bobby Gray, Sadie Gray, Colm Colgan, Mary O’Reilly and Paddy Kelly. New members are welcome to join. ‘Keeping our community a safer place’. Next meeting takes place on Monday, April 27th in the Hotel Bailie at 9.00pm.

Students may avail of a free study space at the Library, Market Square during Library opening hours except 10am to

Congratulations: CONGRATULATIONS to Bailieborough’s Emma Feeney who recently won the Mid Ulster Boxing Championship again this year.

 

Plaque Unveiling:

Friday May 8th 2015 at 7pm.
A Blue Plaque will be unveiled at Trinity Presbyterian Church Bailieborough by the Ulster History Circle in honour of Anne Jane Carlile, Temperance Pioneer. The unveiling will be performed by Heather Humphreys Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht. This event is promoted by the Bailieborough Historical Society.

Bailieborough Walking Group: 2015 Walking Season:
Bailieborough Walking Group commence their 2015 walking season on Saturday, May 2nd. This walk will be a community walk and it will be part of the Cavan Walking Festival in association with Cavan Sports Partnership. It will commence at 11am at the Bailieborough Business Centre, Shercock Road and proceed to the forest and Castle Lake. There will be three separate walks. A short walk for parents and children, a moderate walk of about 5 – 6km and a long walk of about 10km. Refreshments in the Business Centre on completion.

 

Cubs/ Scouts:

The St. Vincent DePaul Shop has re-located to Main Street (where Moynagh’s Supermarket used to be). The new shop will afford the organisation the opportunity to provide customers with a greater range of clothes and goods. Exercising Is FUN! Every Monday and Wednesday evenings at 8pm join us at Bailieborough Community Centre! All welcome—no matter what your fitness levels are!. Ok folks Spring is here, no more weather excuses, join us to run, jog or walk and most importantly tea, biscuits, fruit and chat afterwards.

 

East Cavan Gaels:   Club News 30th March 2015:

U12; The boys had a convincing win over Ballymachugh in St. Anne’s Park, Bailieborough on Sunday last in the Cavan Under 12 league. In testing conditions the lads put in a strong performance with the whole squad working hard to secure the victory. 2 wins from their first 3 games is a promising start to the competition.

U6/8/10; Thanks to Carrickmacross for hosting an U8/10 blitz on Saturday last. Our next blitz is this coming Wednesday in Castleblayney at 6.30. Tuesday training in Kingscourt will now transfer outdoors to Wednesdays from 8th April 6-7.30. No training this week due to blitz. Outdoor training will return in Bailieborough on Friday 10th April from 6-7.30 at the Community School Pitch.

U14/16/18; Outdoor training for the boys returns at last now that the clocks have moved forward. U16 league coming up in mid-April.

Training times and venues; Under 8/10; Bailieborough group;

No training this coming Good Friday. We return outdoors in Bailieborough on Friday 10th April 6-7.30. For all U8/10 information contact Willie Gaughan 087 164 9280.

Under 12/14/16/18; All training is collective in Bailieborough and subject to change. This week, Wednesday outdoors at St. Anne’s Park. Players will receive a text. For all U12-U18 information contact Kathryn O’Flynn 087 244 1371.
