Book Launch: On Friday next, January 20th, 2023, local woman, Gloria McBreen (nee McEntee) will launch her debut novel titled ‘Secrets in the Babby House’ in the Old Courthouse, Lower Main St., Bailieborough at 7.30pm. Everyone welcome.

 As Gloria herself says: ‘I’m thrilled to be launching my book in the old Courthouse in Bailieborough because it’s where our Library used to be – back in the day!

The old Library is the place where I fell in love with books. It’s the place where I go in my mind when I hold an old book to my nose to give it a good big sniff! 

Many happy memories!’

Regretted Death: Deepest Sympathy is extended to son Michael and daughter in law Cleona, all the  extended family and wide circle of friends and neighbours on the death of Terence Clarke, Granafarna, Killinkere and also of  Bailieborough, Co Cavan, who passed away peacefully, in the loving care of the staff in Virginia Health Centre, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 8th, 2023.  Terence was predeceased by his loving wife Bridget.

Terence’s Funeral Mass was held in St. Mary’s Chruch, Clanaphilip,on Tuesday, January 10th with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

 Bridge Club: The Bridge club meets every Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. in the Bailie Hotel.

Deepest Sympathy: Deepest Sympathy is extended to brother Patsy, cousins, good neighbours, relatives and friends.on the death of his sister Kitty Cusack,
Waterloo, Bailieborough, Cavan, who passed away peacefully, at Cavan General Hospitall on Tuesday, January 10th, 2023. Kitty was predeceased by her brother Tenny.

Kitty’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Mary’s Church, Clanaphilip, on Thursday, January 12th with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Deepest Sympathy: Deepest Sympathy is extended to son Kieran, daughters ,Heather and Helen, mother Nancy, brothers Declan and Peter, sisters Jackie and Bridget, mother-in-law Pat Leeson, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and a wide circle of friends at home and in the UK on the death of Andrew (Brendan) Smith, (formerly of Bailieborough) and Sheffield, England who passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, January 2nd, 2023.

Sadly, Andrew was predeceased by his wife Diane Smith, one week earlier on 26th  December 2022. Andrew was also predeceased by his father P. J.

Andrew and Diane’s Funerals were held at the Christ Church, Hollinsend, Sheffield  on Tuesday 17th  January 2023, with burial afterwards at the Intake Cemetery in Sheffield.

Bailieborough Creative Hub: The next meeting of the Bailieborough Creative Hub will take place in The Library on Thursday, January 19th, 2023 at 7.00pm. New members are always most welcome.

Congratulations to the members of the Bailieborough Creative Hub, who have been shortlisted for the Creative Lives Awards 2022. The group now need the public to vote for them. Cavan /Monaghan Education and Training Board: Adult Guidance and Information, drop-in centre will take place at Bailieborough Library on Thursday, January 26th, 2023 from 10.00am to 1.00pm. Free and confidential guidance from a Professional Guidance Councillor. FREE advice on return to education and careers!  All welcome.

Bailieborough Celtic A.F.C: Training for the Under 9’s has resumed at the Vale Grounds on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 7 pm. With a large turnout each week, the Club would really encourage and appreciate parents getting involved.

Regretted Death: Deepest Sympathy is extended to wife Mary, daughter Fiona, grandchildren Breege, Patrick and Bernard. Brother in law Paddy, sisters, Anna, Sr. Rosella and Doreen, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends on the death of Phonsie Brady, Cappy, Bailieborough, Co Cavan, who passed away on Monday, 9th  January 2023 peacefully at Kilmainhamwood Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. Phonsie was pre deceased by his parents Rose and John James, sister Kathleen and brothers in law Sean, Patsy and Sean.

Phonsie’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Brigid’s Church, East Knockbride on Thursday, January 12th, 2023  and  afterwards Phonsie’s remains were laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.  

Indoor Bowls: Indoor Bowls take place in the Community Centre, Chapel Road every Wednesday evening at 8.00pm. New members most welcome.

St. Felim’s. N.S., (The Vale) is currently inviting applications for admission to Junior Infants for  2023/2024. East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Hurling News :

New group; We are excited to announce that East Cavan Gaels will open a new indoor training venue in Mullagh in the Community Sports Hall starting from Thursday 19th January. Under 7 from 3-4pm, under 9 from 4-5pm and under 12 from 5-6pm. This is for boys and girls, all our regular hurlers are welcome, as well as those from the local Mullagh area. We initially run for six weeks to see how it goes. Spread the word, all are welcome! Equipment supplied. €3 each per session.
