Do you want to get moving and active this New Year, but you have nowhere to go?
Do you find it hard to find a safe and well-lit area to go a walk during the dark winter months? Well, your local GAA Club has the answer!
Bailieborough Shamrocks GAA are coming on board with the Operation Transformation and the GAA for Ireland Lights Up. Every night until the 23th February 2022 our club will be open and lit up for you, your family and friends to come and walk safety around our fully lit walking track.
We want everyone to come and join for Ireland Lights Up 2022!
Track your steps and log them My Life App for the club. We could be in with a chance to win some great prizes whilst getting fit..

Bailieborough Cancer Comfort: Thanks to everyone who gave so generously to the ‘Singing Santa’s’ on Christmas Eve. A total of €6,685 was raised for this very worthy cause.
Deepest Sympathy: Deepest Sympathy is extended to children John, Mary O’Connor, Bridget Ford, granddaughters Lily Mae, and Molly Mae, sisters, Christine Gregory, Ita Hamilton, Annette Dorian, Bridie Quinlan, Maisie McIntyre, Teresa Craig, brothers, Danny, Edward and Patsy, brother in laws and sister in laws, nieces and nephews, relatives and friends on the death of John James O’Connor, Southampton, England and late, Noalgh, Shercock, Co Cavan, aged 87 who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, the 1st December 2021 at his home in Southampton, England. Predeceased by his brothers Michael, Oliver and Leo and his sisters Elizabeth, Nancy and Kitty.
John James’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Annes Church, Bailieborough on Tuesday, January 18th 2022 and afterwards his remains were laid to rest in St. Annes Cemetery.

Regretted Death: Deepest Sympathy is extended to sister, Jean O’Flaherty on the death of Margaret Clarke (nee Sheridan), (Carrigaline, Cork and late of Bailieborough, Co. Cavan) who passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 20th 2022. Sadly missed by her sister, nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends. Margaret’s Requiem Mass took place in the Church of Our Lady and St. John, Carrigaline, on Saturday, January 22nd and afterwards, Margarets remains were laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Carrigaline

East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Hurling News 24th January 2022Seniors and U17; Positive players meeting last week outlining the year ahead. We welcome all the lads back including some new players to the club and especially those ECG men who move up to adult hurling for the first time this year after serving the apprenticeship all the way along with us! Cavan Senior/ U20; We wish the East Cavan representatives on both squads well in the year ahead. Under 13/15; Lads scheduled to return to training in February with Táin Leagues in the Spring for both sides. Under 11; Training will resume in February. Under 7/9; The lads in both groups had a great return on Saturday in Killinkere with the indoor proving a great success. Lots of new players and lots of room so even more are welcome in the weeks and months ahead. The entire East Cavan region is now well represented on all our squads. The week ahead; Saturday: Under 7 and Under 9 indoor training Killinkere GAA. 1pm and 2pm respectively. County U20 training 5.30 Breffni 3G. Foundation Coaching Award, 10-12.30pm Killinkere GAA. Gerry’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Joseph’s Redemptorist Church, Dundalk on Saturday, January 8th , 2022 with burial afterwards in Cullies Cemetery, Co Cavan.

Senior football trainng commences on Tuesday evening next, January 18th. Old and new members are welcome to come along and join in.
Congratulations to Danny Keenan (#8085) won the €10,000 cash prize in the Shamrocks ‘Dublin City Apartment or €250,000 Cash’ draw held on December 28th. There are still some tickets left for the main draw on St. Patrick’s Day.
Heartfelt Sympathy: The entire community were deeply saddened to learn of the sudden death of Julie Kehoe, Craanford, Gorey, Wexford / Bailieborough, Cavan, partner of Dessie Heery, Bailieborough, who passed away on Friday, December 31st, 2021, following a road accident. Julie was the beloved mother of Jack, Grace and Hannah and sister of Ger, Martina and Ciaran. Deeply regretted by her mother Geraldine, partner Dessie, son Jack, daughters Grace and Hannah, brothers, sister, sister-in-law, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family, relatives and friends, to whom deepest sympathy is extended. Julie was predeceased by her father Jack.
Julie’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Patrick’s Church, Craanford on Thursday, 6th January 2022 and afterwards, Julie’s remains were laid to rest in the adjoining Cemetery.

Cavan), who passed away peacefully at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, on Friday, December 24th, 2021. Brendan was predeceased by his wife Kathleen .
Brendan’s Funeral Mass took place on Friday, December 31st, 2021in the Church of the Resurrection, Bayside.

Mary’s Funeral Service took place in Drung Parish Church on Sunday, January 2nd , 2022 with burial afterwards in the adjoining graveyard.

Leanne on Fire!!: Leanne Kiernan got the New Year off to the best possible start when she scored a hat-trick in six second half minutes to help Liverpool Ladies to a 6—0 away win over Blackburn Rovers Ladies. The Bailieborough native has now brought her tally for the season to 10 goals scored. With half the season gone Liverpool Ladies now lead the Championship by 5 points. Next up is Watford Ladies on Sunday afternoon next.
