‘Blue Plaque’ Unveiling:

Congratulations to the Ulster History Circle and the Cavan Ireland 2016 Committee who unveiled a memorial plaque to Francis Sheehy-Skeffington at Bailieborough Library on Thursday night last. Thank you to Bailieborough Community Choir and Bailieborough School of Music who provided the very moving musical entertainment and finally thank you to Fiona and Teresa for the lovely cup of tea, refreshments and warm ambience to reflect on the whole event with the local community. A lovely evening.

 

Breakfast Club:

Breakfast Club on Saturday 18th June in the Community Centre, Bailieborough from 8am-1pm in aid of Niall Mellon Educate. All welcome.

 

Bailieboro Celtic AFC:

The A.G.M. of Bailieboro Celtic AFC takes place in the Club Rooms, The Vale on Friday evening next, 17th June at 8:00 pm.

 

Art Exhibition:

‘Easter 1916’, an exhibition of paintings by Cavan artist, Paul Galligan, is on display at the Library until the end of June. All are welcome and admission is free!

Bailieborough Mental Health Association:

Bailieborough Mental Health Association are holding a ‘Solstice Walk’ on June 20th at 7 pm. It will be leaving from the Business Centre and will continue through the forest – arriving back to Business centre for refreshments. All welcome.

 

Baptism Preparation Meeting for Parents:

Thursday (July 14th) in the Parish Centre (Parochial House beside Church) from 8pm to 9pm. All parents who are intending to have their child baptised are required to attend this meeting before finalising the date. Parents are reminded to give at least one month’s notice to 087-4407990.

 

Deepest Sympathy:

Deepest Sympathy is extended to husband Packie, son John and daughters Mary and Margaret McCabe on the recent death of Sheila McCabe—formerly of Carnalynch, Bailieborough whose Funeral Mass took place in St. Patrick’s Church, Carrickallen, Mountain Lodge on Sunday last. Deepest sympathy is also extended to all Sheila’s family, relatives and friends.

Deepest Sympathy is extended to wife Carmel, daughters Michaela, Kelly Marie and Leanne, son Nathan,  mother Annie, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, relatives and friends of Thomas McClory, Seefin, Bailieborough who died on Monday last, June 6th and whose Funeral Mass and interment took place at St. Brigid’s Church, Knockbride West on Wednesday, June 8th.

 

‘Hardtimes Chorus’:

The Hardtimes Chorus from Bailieborough are coming to Cootehill to perform a fund raising concert on 3rd of July. We are looking for new members to join us. If you would like to take part in singing with the choir please come along to the first rehearsal in Drumlin House on Tuesday evening, starting at 8pm. Rehearsals will be split between Cootehill and Bailieborough.

 

Planned Renovations to St. Anne’s Church:

The Architect’s plans for the renovations to St. Anne’s Church and the Parish Centre are on display in the porch of the Chapel on the Virginia Road side of the Chapel.

Bailieborough Walking Group:

June 15th – Billis, Ballyjamesduff: (A) Walk – 2 + hours (approx.). Leaving Bailieborough Library at 6.45pm. Walk commences at Billis, Ballyjamesduff at 7.15pm. On the N3 Virginia/Cavan road, 7.5km from Virginia.

June 22nd – Bellamont Forest, Cootehill: (E) Walk – 1 Hour (M) – 1 Hour 30 min. Leaving Bailieborough Library at 6.45pm. Walks commence at 7.15pm at the R.C. Church car park, Station Road, Cootehill. All welcome.

Parent, Baby and Toddler group: Weekly meeting at Bailieborough Library.

Bailieborough Library Parent, Baby and Toddler Group has proven to be a vital life line for all stay-at-home parents who may be new to the area and wish to get out of the house and make new friends. There is a huge range of toys for children to play with, while parents can enjoy a cup of tea and chat.

The group meets at the Library Arts space every Wednesday at 10.30am-12pm. Why not join their Facebook Group and keep up to date with news and events.

  East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Hurling News 13th June 2016

Under 6/8/10; Round 2 of our U10 tournament saw us travel to Carrick on Wednesday last. Again good hurling on display by all our players. Round 3 this week in Cootehill on Wednesday. Well done also to some of our U6/8s who travelled over for a game v Carrick.

We will have U6/8 training on Thursday in Kingscourt this week before we take a well-earned break till early July to recharge the batteries. No Bailieborough training this Friday so those who can make it to Kingscourt on Thursday are most welcome.

Under 12; Saturdays’ first round of the Championship was postponed due to  Castlerahan not having a pitch available. Round 2 this Wednesday at home to Cootehill at 7 in St. Annes Park.

Under 14; Feilé na nGael 2016

After all the preparations the time has come. We travel, this coming Friday, to Roscrea in Tipperary for National Feilé na nGael in what promises to be a great weekend of hurling. Best of luck to all players, mentors, coaches and managers and enjoy the Feilé experience.

Under 16/18;

New players are especially welcome. Leagues and Championships will commence after the exams.

Lucky first goal;

The scratch cards are now distributed. Please support when you can as this is our only major fundraiser for this year and with 9 club teams we need to raise as much funding as we can. If you would like to buy/sell extra tickets then please contact any player or coach. Scratch cards are just €2 each.

Exams;

Wishing all our players taking the state exams all the very best of luck over the coming weeks. We know these boys work very hard on the field and know they will do their very best also in their exams.

We move back to Thursday this week from 6-7 at Kingscourt Stars pitch for U6/8 only (U10s play tournament Wednesdays) then we take a wee break till Thursday 7th July.

Bailieborough group U6/8/10; No training for the next 3 weeks. Will return Friday 8th July.

Training will remain on Friday at the Community School pitch. U6/8 from 6-7 for all For all U8/10 information contact Willie Gaughan 086 164 9280.

Training for all ages from Under 12 to Under 18 on Wednesday 7pm at Bailieborough GAA grounds St.Annes Park.
