Bailieborough Shamrocks GAA

The Shamrocks Golf Society are running a 4 Person Team Event in Virginia Golf Club on the 16th and 17th September 2016 in aid of Bailieborough Cancer Comfort Ltd. Each and every one of us has had a family member, relation or friend who has had to battle cancer and we are just trying to raise money for this wonderful cause. If anyone would like to enter a team please contact 086 0532174. Cost of teams is €100. Or if you can’t play and want to contribute we are offering tee box and green sponsorship at €50.

Bailieborough Group of Parishes

The following services and events will be happening over the Harvest season at the Bailieborough Group of Parishes.  As ever, it’s an open house and so all are invited and welcome to come along.

Sunday 18th September: 7:30pm Bailieborough Church, Speaker Rev Arthur Young.

Saturday 24th September: 3pm Bailieborough Hall: Messy Church.  Fun, craft, celebration time and food. Everyone is invited – young and old alike, adults, children, teenagers, carers, grandparents. Come as a family or come on your own. Children must bring an adult with them.

Sunday 25th September: 3pm Mullagh Church, Speaker Rev Nick Jones

Sunday 2nd October: 7:30pm Shercock Church, Speaker Philip McKinley (Chaplin to DCU).

Sunday 9th October: 8pm Knockbride Church, Speaker Rev Alastair Donaldson.

 

Bailieborough Community School Parents Association

The Bailieborough Community School Parents Association are holding a Tractor, Vintage Car and Motorcycle Run on Sunday, September 15th in aid of the Student Canteen Upgrade Fund. Registration and refreshments from 11am at the Community School. The Run will commence at 12 noon. Admission fee is €20 per entrant and all entrants must be over 18 years of age. Blessing of the Graves

Thank you to all who attended the Blessing of the Graves in St. Annes Cemetery on Sunday week last. As usual there was a very large attendance present. The event was very well marshalled by the Church Stewards who managed the parking and traffic very well. Thank you to them and the Pastoral Council who organised the ceremony and who took up the collection which this year, thanks to your generous contributions amounted to €4,551.30. Thank you also to the members of the Community Employment Scheme who had the cemetery looking so well, to the readers, the local Legion of Mary who led the Rosary, to Tommy McCluskey who played a beautiful instrumental piece during the Service and to Thomas Small, who was on pastoral placement in the parish, for his assistance.

 

Bailieborough Heritage Society presents

Recording the Memories of These Old Walls – the Homes of Our Great-Grandparents in the parishes of County Cavan’. An audio visual presentation by Philip Donnelly, author of ‘The Eyes That Shone’ taking place at Bailieborough Library on Tuesday, 20th September at 7.30pm. All are welcome and admission is free!

Bailieborough Community Bowls resumes in the Community Centre, Chapel road, tonight, Wednesday, September 14th at 8.00pm. All members are requested to attend and new members are most welcome.

 

Deepest Sympathy:

Deepest Sympathy is extended to brother Matt, sister Kathleen, brother-in-law John, sister-in-law Shirley, cousins, nephews, nieces and extended family and friends on the death of Andrew Argue, Ballinamoney, Bailieborough, on Saturday, September 3rd, suddenly, at his residence. Andrew’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Patrick’s Church, Tierworker, on Tuesday, September 6th, with burial afterwards in St Anne’s Cemetery, Bailieborough.

Deepest Sympathy is extended to son Terence, daughters Bernadette, Geraldine and Carmel, sons-in-law John, Michael, Brian and daughter-in-law Mary, grandchildren Sinead, Sean, Cathal, Liam, Kevin, Sarah, Niall, Luke, Claire and Emmet, nephews, nieces and a large circle of friends on the death of Donald McCabe, Tunnyduff Post Office, Bailieborough, at Fairlawns Nursing Home, Bailieborough on Friday, September 2nd. Donald was predeceased by his wife Kitty and daughter Mary, brothers, sisters, brother-in-law and sisters in law. Donald’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Brigid’s Church, Knockbride West, on Monday, September 5th with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Irish Heart Foundation

Come along and support the Irish Heart Foundation who are holding a ‘Coffee Morning’ at Daybreak Service Station, Barrack Street, Bailieborough on Friday morning next, September 16th. All funds raised will be donated to the Irish Heart Foundation.

 

Bailieboro Parish Church Funds—Fundraiser presents CONAL GALLEN

‘Dance Mania’

Parent, Baby and Toddler group: Weekly meeting at Bailieborough Library.

Bailieborough Library Parent, Baby and Toddler Group has proven to be a vital life line for all stay-at-home parents who may be new to the area and wish to get out of the house and make new friends. There is a huge range of toys for children to play with, while parents can enjoy a cup of tea and chat.

The group meets at the Library Arts space every Wednesday at 10.30am-12pm. Why not join their Facebook Group and keep up to date with news and events.

WeightWatchers takes place each Monday in The BDA Shercock Rd, Bailieborough at 8pm and also each Monday in The Matt Talbot Hall Kingscourt 6pm to 7.15pm.

 

ASSIST (APPLIED SUICIDE INTERVENTION SKILL TRAINING):

  East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Hurling News 12th September 2016

Under 6/8/10; Our Bailieborough/Shercock/Knockbride U6/8/10 group got our new indoor season up and running on Friday last in the Community School Sports Hall. Over 30 weeks of hurling activity lie ahead. This is the perfect time with which to join with us. Indoors gives the opportunity to learn the skills and play games in a fun environment away from the elements. New players are always very welcome. Equipment is supplied while learning the game with us.

Our Kingscourt U6/8 group should begin this coming Thursday in the Community Centre.

Under 12/14; Our U14s went down to a narrow defeat to Annalee Gaels in the Championship and have now qualified for the Championship Shield Final v St. Felim’s this Wednesday at 6.30 on the 3G at Breffni Park. Best of luck to them.

Under 16/18; Our Under 16s travel to Carrickmacross on Thursday next in the Ulster League.

Dual Stars; The very best of luck to Bailieborough Shamrocks, Knockbride and Kingscourt in U14, U16 and Minor Championship football squads in knockout stages of Championships this coming week. Lots of ECG men on club squads leading the way for the dual stars. Best of luck to all.

Under 10s will continue outdoors. Players will receive a text.

Under 6/8; Kingscourt group;

Thursday 6.30-7.30 for U6/8 only in the Community Centre. €3 each and bring water bottle.

Bailieborough group U6/8;

Friday at the Bailieborough Community School Sports Hall. U6/8 from 6-7 & U10 from 7-8. €3 each and bring the water bottle.
