Bailieborough Red Cross: A really big thank you to Tesco Ireland Bailieborough for this amazing donation of €634.00 through their Community Fund, which will be used to purchase and maintain New Defibrillators for the town and CFR / Defibrillator training for Town and surrounding areas .

The cheque was received by Branch and Area Treasures Julie O Brien along with Emily O Hallron, Branch Chairwoman and Peter McCabe Health and Social care Community Services committee Member.

A big thank you to Kitty Flanagan, Tesco Bailieborough Community funds coordinator and Philip the deputy store manager who presented the cheque.

Bailieborough Creative Hub: The exhibition entitled ‘Perspective’ runs for the next few weeks.. Pop in during Library opening hours.

Bailieborough Social Day Centre: The Bailieborough Social Day Centre are holding a ‘Get Together’ in the Bailie Hotel on Wednesday, October 18th at 3.00pm. Everyone welcome.

Regretted Death: The death has occured of Jimmy Fisher, Ontario, Canada on Saturday, October 7th 2023. Jimmy was one of 19 children and was a native of Killinkere. He went to work in England and then onto Canada, where he spent most of his life. Jimmy was a regular visitor to Bailieborough and Killinkere over the years, where he would visit his many friends and relations in the area.

Deepest Sympathy is extended to Jimmy’s wife, Hillary, son Alan, sister Isabel Malcolm (Bangor, Co. Down), brother, Adam Fisher, (Kells, Co. Meath), nieces, nephews, and all of his relatives and friends in Bailieborough, Killinkere and further afield. 

Indoor Bowling: Indoor Bowling continues in the Community Centre, Bailieborough on Wednesday evenings at 8.00pm. New members welcome and free tuition for beginners will be provided.

Bailieborough Library: Book Club: With our next book club meeting taking place on Tuesday, October 31st  (Halloween), it feels appropriate that the next book is ‘The Witches of Vardo’ by Anya Bergman

All are welcome and copies of the book are available in Bailieborough Library.

Bailieborough Active Age Group: The committee wish to thank all who attended their first meeting on Tuesday last, October 3rd. The next Social Gathering will be on Tuesday, October 17th from 2.00pm to 4.00pm, in the Courthouse, Lower Main St. (Entrance through the side door). All welcome.

Bailieborough Craft Group: The Group meets every Friday from 10am-12.30pm in the Library and new members are always welcome regardless of talents or skills.

Legion of Mary Revival: The Legion of Mary is open to men and women  and a Meeting of those interested in getting a Branch started in this Parish will take place in St. Annes Church on this Wednesday evening, October 11th at 7.30pm—after 7.00pm Mass. All are welcome.

Careers: Thinking of changing career, need advice on careers, educational needs, CV help, interview skills – CMETB (Cavan Monaghan Education and Training Board) will facilitate a FREE drop in service at the Library on the first Thursday of each month  from 2pm-4.30pm. No appointment is necessary.

Bailieborough Men’s Shed: Bailieborough ‘Men’s Shed’ is open every Tuesday morning from 10.00am to 1.00pm in the Bexcourt Centre, Shercock Road. New members are always most welcome.

We are so proud of all our swimmers for the effort, dedication and fast swimming on display on Saturday night at the Joey Dunlop, Leisure Centre, Ballymoney.

Congratulations to Ruby Ward and André Bourgouin, representing the club at the Swim Ulster Future Challengers meet in Craigavon on Sunday last..

Super swimming for both swimmers with huge PBs in all events and André posting 1st place finishes in all 3 events.

October—Month of the Rosary: The Rosary will be recited for the month of October in St. Annes Church , Bailieborough. Everyone is welcome and we look forward to new members joining us.

Bailieboro Celtic A.F.C: Bailieboro Celtic are finally back to winning ways as they came out 4-0 winners last Thursday night at The Vale against Black Bull FC in a dominant performance. Bailieboro are back in action again on Sunday morning next, away to Johnstown FC, for an 11:30AM Kick-Off. All support welcome.

Rehab Care, Bailieborough: RehabCare Bailieborough, the Care division of the Rehab Group, which supports 4,000 people across the country, is hosting an upcoming fundraising event called “A Cup of Care”  on Thursday, October 26th  from 11 am in the Courthouse, Lower Main St. 100% of funds raised locally will stay locally! Bailieborough Shamrocks G.F.C.: Women’s Health: Information Meeting: Local Nurse, Bailieborough Shamrocks Club woman and Health and Wellbeing committee member, Claire McCluskey has organised a Women’s Health Information Evening to take place  in the Clubhouse in St. Anne’s Park on Thursday, 19th  October at 7.30pm.

Walk, Jog or Run:   Now that the evenings are getting short again we will be starting back,  running and walking for all levels,  beginners and advanced. Fun and free, social gathering in the Chapel car park,  Lake Shore,  Bailieborough at 8pm. All old and new people welcome.  It’s a well lit up run.  Stretch before and afterwards, every Monday and Wednesday evening.  

Deepest Sympathy: Deepest Sympathy is extended to husband John, children,  Yvonne, JP and Gráinne, twin sister Philomena, brother TP and John Fox, sons-in-law Tony and Terence, daughter-in-law Deirdre, grandchildren Anna, Aoibhinn, Eoin, Olan, Oisín and Fionn, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, relatives, neighbours and friends on the death of Cecelia Mulvaney (née Quinn) of Mountain View Drive, Bray, Co. Wicklow, formerly of Relaghbeg, Co. Cavan, who passed away on Tuesday, October 3rd , 2023, surrounded by her loving family at Marymount Care Centre, Lucan.

Cecelia’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Fergal’s Church, Ballywaltrim, Bray, on Friday, October 6th and  after which Cecelia was laid to rest in Redford Cemetery, Greystones.

Halloween ‘Fright Night’: Fright Night is back again!!

Join us for an evening full of fun and scares at the Bailieborough Town Lake from 7.00pm on Monday, October 30th. Bigger and better than ever. Suitable for all ages.   Car parking available at the Community Centre, Community School or the Church Carpark on the Virginia Road side. No parking available at the event location.. Fancy dress and lights display.  If the lake floods, we will have music, fun, games and fancy dress in the car park too.  Tickets are €5 per person for the ‘Scary Walk’.  The main sponsor this year is Link Credit Union. East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Hurling News 9th October 2023

Senior, U17/15/13/11/9/7;

Seniors preparing for Cavan league.

The U17s will train with the Seniors for the remainder of the season.

The U15s will train on alternate Tuesdays with Cavan GAA coaches on the 3G at Kingspan Breffni and train with us on the alternate Mondays.

The U13s had a fantastic win in the league final on Monday last on the 3G at Kingspan Breffni. The lads had to withstand a ferocious Cootehill fightback but the lads dug deep and were good value for the win. Thanks to our friends at Bailieborough Shamrocks for hosting the squad celebrations later in the evening.

The U11s had their final trip in the Monaghan league when they made the trip to Inniskeen and performed very well. Cavan GAA coaching in Kingspan Breffni on alternate Tuesdays 6.30-7.30.

Under 7 and Under 9s are now in the new after school programme.

After school hurling;

Week 4 of after school hurling was again very positive with lots of players taking the opportunity to play hurling for the first time while our regular players get some additional hurling. Some slight changes to the schedule to give more the opportunity to attend especially as the football season comes to an end.

Safeguarding 1;

We will run our first Safeguarding 1 course this coming Thursday upstairs in Bailieborough Shamrocks. Thanks to all who have volunteered.
