Roadworks Completed: The roadworks at the junction of New Road, Church Street and the Cavan Road have now been completed. The improvements should help with the traffic flow at the Model School—especially in the mornings and evenings of the school terms. Pedestrians should also benefit, with the footpaths widened, particularly on the Church of Ireland side.

Harvest Services: Harvest is one of the most special times of year in our churches. The whole community is invited into our churches, and everyone will receive a warm welcome. Sunday 9th  October in Shercock Parish Church at 3pm.

Congratulations: Congratulations and Well Done to local man, Ciaran Crosby, originally from Curkish and who is now living in England, who completed the London City Marathon in a time of 4.51.48 on Sunday last. Well done, Ciaran!

Bailieborough Bridge Club: Would you like an affordable and enjoyable night out? Our Bridge Club continues every Tuesday night and offers an opportunity to forget the dark dreary days of winter, in the company of fellow card players. Deepest Sympathy: Deepest Sympathy is extended to son Oliver, daughters Martina and Ann, sister Nancy, son in law Philip, grandchildren Bridget, Fabian, Shane and Emma, brother in law Terry, sister in law Ann, nieces, nephews and extended family, neighbours and friends on the death of  Peggy Reilly (née Dillon) Killagriff, Tierworker, Kells, Co Meath, who passed away peacefully at College View Nursing Home, Cavan on Saturday, October 1st 2022. Peggy was predeceased by her husband Jimmy.

Peggy’s Funeral Mass took place in St Patrick’s Church, Tierworker on Monday, October 3rd,  and afterwards, Peggy’s remains were laid to rest in St Anne’s Cemetery, Bailieborough.

Mainly Music, a fun, interactive music group for preschoolers and their caregivers will take place on Friday mornings from 10am -12noon in the Knockbride Church of Ireland Hall (A82 E377). Regretted Death: Deepest Sympathy is extended to daughter Teresa, brothers Paddy, Michael, Martin, Terence, Paul, sisters Mary, Ellen, Jenny, Kathleen, Maggie and Ann, son in law Dan, grandchildren Kieran and Kai, sisters in law, brothers in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends, on the death of Edward McGuinness, Lisdrumskeagh, Shercock and late of Tullawaltra, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan, who passed away peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, October 1st 2022.

Edward’s Funeral Mass took place in St Brigid’s Church, Knockbride West (Tunnyduff) on Tuesday, October 4th and afterwards Edwards remains were laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.

October—Month of the Rosary: The Rosary will be recited at the Grotto on the Virginia Road for the month of October, commencing at 7.30pm. No Rosary on Saturdays. The small Rosary Group would be delighted to welcome more people to make an effort, just for one month.

Congratulations: Massive congratulations to Andrea O’Reilly and Wellington Ladies on being the first ever Wellington team to win an Australisian Tournament with Bailieborough’s, Andrea O’Reilly scoring a massive 5-08 of their 8-09 v 3-11 victory over South Australia. Andrea also received an All Star award and was named ‘ Player of the Tournament’.  Bailieborough’s  loss is definitely Wellingtons huge gain.

Indoor Bowling: Indoor Bowling takes place in the Community Centre, Bailieborough, every Wednesday evening for the Winter months at 8.00pm. New members welcome.

Bailieborough Celtic A.F.C. : Bailieboro Celtic Girls U12 (born 2011/2012) and U14 (born 2009/2010) teams are looking for new girls to join us for the current season.

Have fun, make new friends and become part of a great team sport.

Training every Monday evening 6.15pm at the Vale Soccer grounds.

Well Done Girls: Another fantastic day for the Bailieborough Shamrocks Camogie Club:  Well done to the U13 camogie girls on winning the Division 1 Championship, when they defeated Laragh in a match played in Stradone on Saturday last. Congratulations to the team and management. A big thank you to Fox’s bar for providing the food for the girls after the game and to Rita for all her hard work. Thanks also to all the parents for the continuous support throughout the year.

East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Indoor hurling has returned to Killinkere GAA Hall. Every Saturday. Under 7 from 1-2pm, Under 9 from 2-3pm. It is so great to be back as it has been three years since our last Challenge and we are so excited. This year’s event will as usual, start and finish at Mac Seains Bar, Cornafean and will be marked out and stewarded along the route to guide you along the way, to whichever distance you decide to participate in. Over the years the Challenge has been an outstanding success, raising €436,000 for this wonderful cause. There will be loads of surprises and craic on the day and it will be a fantastic day for the family.  Entry fee on the day to participate in the Challenge is voluntary. Registration for the Challenge takes place from 12 noon and the Challenge kicks off at 1pm sharp. Anyone wishing to donate to this very worthy cause can do so by leaving donations in the Village Foodstore, Crossdoney.  All donations are greatly accepted.
