Student Scholarship Awards: Link Credit Union have launched their Student Scholarship Awards, where 10 members will win €1,000 towards their educational costs. Application Forms are now available to download from their website www.linkcu.ie or to collect from the Bailieborough or Kingscourt office.

Good Luck: Best wishes and Good Luck to the Bailieborough Shamrocks Senior Ladies team who play neigbhours Kingscourt in the Ladies Intermediate Championship Final in Kingspan Breffni Park on Saturday afternoon next, October 16th at 12.30pm.

Deepest Sympathy: Deepest Sympathy is extended to daughters, Glenda and Karen, sons in law Colm and Stephen, grandchildren Daragh, James, Kian, Leanne, Jamie and Amy, brothers Victor and Norman, sister Lilly, mother in law Mary Daly, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and wide circle of friends on the passing of Cecil Millar, Kells Road, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 21st,2021, at St Christopher’s Hospice, Cavan. surrounded by his loving family. Cecil was predeceased by his wife Rose and his baby sons Dermot and Stephen. .

Cecil’s Funeral Service took place in Bailieborough Parish Church on Saturday, October 9th and following which, Cecil’s remains were laid to rest in St. Annes Cemetery.

 ‘Cherished Captures’: Local photographer, Ollie Gargan’s first solo photo exhibition will be on view upstairs in the Library, to all members of the community until Tuesday, October 26th  during Library opening hours. Current government Covid guidelines will be strictly adhered to. Well worth a visit!

Scoring Run Continues: Well done to Leanne Kiernan on netting another goal in Liverpools 2—0 away against Sheffield United on Saturday last. Leanne has now scored 3 goals in her last two games. The Liverpool side are now second in the division.

Trad Music Classes: Youth Trad music classes return to East Cavan after a 15 month hiatus. The local Comhaltas branch in Killinkere are delighted to announce that classes are continuing on Friday evenings from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
Instruments include Button Accordion, Flute, Banjo, Mandolin, Bodhrán and Tin Whistle – all available at beginner & intermediate levels.
Tutors include multi All Ireland Fleadh champions Shane Walsh, Brian Kelly and Patrick McGrane.

Bailieboro Celtic A.F.C.: Bailieborough Celtic AFC are looking for girls aged 9 to 13 years old, to expand and develop our girls soccer teams, currently at Under 11 and Under 13 level. If you would like the opportunity to become part of a great girls team, come along to our training sessions on a Monday evening at 6.30pm, at the Vale Soccer Grounds.

Bailieborough Group of Parishes: Sunday services are at 9:30am in Mullagh and Shercock, 10:45 am in Bailieborough, 12noon in Knockbride. Audio from the sermon will be available later on Sundays on our YouTube channel.  Face masks, hand sanitizing, and social distancing will still be required on Sunday mornings.

Halloween ‘Fright Night’: Halloween fright night is back this year. Bigger and better than ever. Friday the 22nd  of October. All Covid guidelines will be in place. Suitable for all ages, from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. Pre-booking only. Contact Tony at 086 399 3430. Car parking available at the Community Centre, Community School or the Church Carpark on the Virginia Road side. No parking available at the event location. Time slots are available every two minutes with groups of 15 allowed per time slot. Tickets are €5 per person. The main sponsor this year is Link Credit Union.

Bailieborough Library: Competition time!!

In celebration of Children’s Book Festival 2021 we have an art competition for budding young illustrators – Design a Halloween Mask!

Children are asked to design a scary mask from their imagination or based on a spooky character they have read about.

The closing date is 16th October and entries must be returned to your local library in Cavan.

 Public computers, seating areas and study spaces are now available at Bailieborough Library. We couldn’t be more pleased to have your regular Library services back in action.

Seniors; Training Mondays as they await the league semi-final.

Under 15/17; Training with the seniors as they await the last few games of the season.

Under 13; 7 a side blitzes continue on Mondays on the 3G at Breffni Park. 7pm.

Under 11; Training on Mondays, 18th ,25th  and November 1st. One more blitz and Cavan league final to come.

Under 7/9; The great start in Killinkere indoors continues. Saturday 3 and 4pm respectively. €3 each and bring the water bottle.

October—Month of the Holy Rosary: The Rosary will be recited at the Grotto on the Virginia Road every evening except Saturdays for the month of October at 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome to come along and join in the prayers for their own intentions.
