On Sunday afternoon last, the 18th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade took place in the town. The Parade proved to be an enjoyable event for young and old.  Mr. P.J. Barry—MC for the event—kept the attendance amused and informed about the various participants in the Parade. Two marching bands took part in the parade—the Aughnamullen Pipe Band and St. Mary’s Brass and Reed Band, Kingscourt. Local businesses, sporting clubs, organisations and charities were well represented, with some organisations making a very welcome return to the parade.

The Prize-winners on the day were, Best Float—Kingscourt Play Centre, Best Window ‘Clarke’s Hardware’, Best Comedy Float: Bailieborough Creative Hub and Best Club, Bailieborough Shamrocks.

Thank you all to everyone who bought tickets for the raffle. The winners are.

East Cavan Gaels: Hurling News: IMPORTANT EXCITING NEWS!!
2019 will see us celebrate 10 years of local hurling with East Cavan Gaels Hurling Club. We are sure you will agree that the regional model which we implemented has been a tremendous success so far in so far that boys from the region, and now men also, have their own hurling teams for which to play for. To further our development and to continue the journey to the next phase we have decided, in conjunction with Cavan County Board, to fully affiliate as an Official GAA Hurling Club. It is the next logical step in this club’s development. We have proven over the last 10 years that there is a healthy appetite for hurling in the East Cavan area and that players are willing to join with us. This is a very big and brave step to take but it could not have happened without your continued support. We have in place a transitional committee in place from which to start the next phase but we will need your input into how we move forward as an Official Club. To that end we will have a meeting for all our interested parties this coming Thursday in the Bailie Hotel, Bailieborough at 9pm upstairs. We would really appreciate it it if you could give us an hour of your time to hear what you have to say about how we begin the next ten years. This is truly an historic time for hurling and we hope you continue to be a part of this new very exciting part of our development. 9pm Thursday 21st March in the Bailie. We look forward to seeing you there. Mise le meas, Kathryn O’Flynn, Runai, East Cavan Gaels Hurling Club.
