‘Run Of The Leprechaun’s’: With no St. Patrick’s Day Parade being held in the town this year, people are asked to come out and help support the ‘Run of the Leprechauns’ which will take place will take place on this Thursday, March 17th  starting from Bailieborough Community Centre. Registration takes place at 11am and the race takes place at 12pm. Distances of 3k, 5k and 10k. Entry fee is € 5 per person. Facepainting and prizes and music and fun along the way.

Show your support please, walkers, runners, pushchairs all welcome. Face painting and prizes on the day. Bernard’s Coffee stop on route in forest and also a water stop.

In an act of solidarity with Ukaine all proceeds from this event will be donated to the Red Cross who will deliver to the people of Ukraine on behalf of the Bailieborough Midsummer Festival Committee.

Congratulations: Congratulations to the almost 100 young people from the Parish who were Confirmed by Bishop Martin Hayes on Saturday last in St. Annes Church. Thanks to the teachers, parents and Pastoral Assistant, Andrea Connolly, for their hard work in preparing the children for Confirmation.

Congratulations and Well Done: Congratulations and Well Done to Lorraine Harris and the staff of Supervalu, Bailieborough on winning the prize for National Lottery Star Store Retailer of the Year at the ‘ShelfLife’ National C-Store Awards, which were held in the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire on Thursday evening last.

Wildflower and Tree Planting: Part of the Lawn at the rear of St. Annes is going to be ‘rewilded’. Parishioners are invited to help with the planting of native wildflower seeds in this space. Some trees will also be planted in the Church grounds and in St. Annes Cemetery. Please lend a hand on Saturday, March 26th from 2.00pm to 5.00pm. Please bring hand-trowels and spades. Refreshments will be served. This is part of an ongoing initiative by the St. Annes Parish Green Group.

Deepest Sympathy: Deepest Sympathy is extended to Ann, Tara, Debbie and all her nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends on the death of  Lena Lynch (nee Tully) Ignatius Road, Dublin and late of Lurganbawn, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan, who passed away peacefully at Fairlawns Nursing Home, Bailieborough on Friday, March 11th, 2022. Lena was predeceased by her husband Peter, her brothers Johnny, Kevin and Andy and her sister Mary.

Lena’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Annes Church on Sunday, March 13th and afterwards, her remains were laid to rest in St. Annes Cemetery.

Local Man to walk with Charlie Bird: The community wishes local man, Kevin Carolan health and fitness on Saturday April 2nd, when he walks alongside his friend of recent times, Charlie Bird to the very top of Croagh Patrick, Kevin says,”everyday across this country people are battling there own mountains with physical and mental issues”. He’s asking everyone who feels able, to travel to Mayo or do the walk in your own surroundings. Kevin will fly the flag for Bailieborough and Cavan on Saturday April 2nd. Bailieborough Men’s Shed: If you are in Tesco’s over the next couple of months, please do drop your blue token into the slot for Bailieborough Men’s Shed and help us to get back up and running. Looking forward to seeing old friends back in the shed and welcoming new faces. Men’s Shed is open every Tuesday morning from 10am till 1pm at the Beckscourt Centre.  

Regretted Death: Deepest Sympathy is extended to daughters, Rosemary, Philomena, Patricia and Breda, son Philip, daughter in law Breda, sons in law Hilary and Morgan, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters in law Bridie and Marie, nieces, nephews and many friends on the death of Nan Smith (nee Clarke) Edengora, Tierworker, Kells, Co. Meath, who passed away peacefully at Killmainhamwood Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, March 10th 2022. Nan was predeceased by her husband Pat. Nan’s Funeral Mass took place in St Patrick’s Church, Tierworker, on Saturday, March 12th  with burial afterwards in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Kingscourt.

East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Hurling News, Seniors;East Cavan Gaels 1-12– Four Master 6-09. Picturesque west Cavan on the shore of Lough Erne was the setting for our first Senior game of the season in the South Ulster league. Sunshine, showers and blustery conditions for the lads to blow off the winter cobwebs. Lads did well considering we lost one to injury before the game and a couple of walking wounded during. All in all a good positive start with some good passages of play to build on in the weeks ahead. Special mention to Callum Shiel, Tadhg Barry and Gary Leddy who made their Senior debut with us after many years with us in the juvenile ranks. Lisbellaw next Sunday in Breffni. Under 13/15; Training on Mondays from 7-8pm on the astro at Bailieborough Shamrocks GAA Club. Under 11; Training on Mondays from 6-7pm on the astro at Bailieborough Shamrocks GAA Club.
