Parish Arrangement for this Summer: From Tuesday, June 11th, Fr. Martin Gilcreest C.C. will be administrator of the Parish until a new Parish Priest takes up residence in late August. Fr. Joseph Bature will be arriving from Rome on Wednesday, June 26th to help Fr. Martin during the summer months and he will be based in the Parish Centre, Bailieborough. Fr. Joseph will say the weekday Masses in Bailieborough, officiate at Baptisms and will alternate between all the Churches in the Parish at weekends. Fr. Martin will look after any Funerals that may occur.

As Fr. Joseph does not drive, he will have to be collected from the Parish Centre in order to respond to emergency calls. If any parishioner is available to do so, it would be greatly appreciated, if they offered to drive him from Bailieborough to Killann or Shercock on a few occasions over the summer.

Fr. Michael Router’s Episcopal Ordination will take place on Sunday, July 21st at 3.00pm, in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh and will be available to watch on

Mass of Celebration in thanksgiving for the Ministry of Fr. Michael Router: A Special Mass will be held in St. Annes Church, Bailieborough on Friday evening, June 21st at 7.00pm, to congratulate Fr. Michael on his appointment as Auxiliary Bishop of Armagh and to celebrate his outstanding, selfless ministry in service of our Parish. Light refreshments will follow in St. Annes Community Centre, Chapel Road. All parishioners, from each of the Church areas in the Parish are most welcome to attend.

Parish Choir: All Church Choir members from Killann Parish Church Areas (St. Anne’s, Bailieborough, St. Patricks, Shercock and St. Anne’s, Killann) are invited to a Choir Practise on Wednesday, June 5th at 8.00pm, in St. Anne’s Church Bailieborough in preparation for Fr. Michael’s Farewell Mass. 

Bailieborough Tidy Towns: Bailieborough Tidy Towns appeals to all business, property and home owners in the Town area to give their property a makeover. Washing walls, footpath’s and painting would be appreciated.  Judging begins in early June. 
 General clean up on Tuesday evenings, meet at the Library at 7pm.  More help needed—its only for an hour. All welcome.  Come along for an hour and help keep Bailieborough litter free.

Bailieborough MidSummer Fest: Bailieborough MidSummer Festival will be taken place on Friday the 19th of July until Sunday 21st of July.

We are creating our brochure for Bailieborough MidSummer Festival 2019. Prices are €50/€100. We are asking all businesses to show their support by placing an ad in the brochure. Deadline is Wednesday the 12th of June.

We are offering our ducking chair to any club or charity. Who would be interested in running it for the day of the Family Fun Day on Sunday 21st of July, as a fundraiser? For information email us:

Parish Pastoral Council and Finance Committees: The next meeting of the Parish Pastoral Council and Finance Committees will take place on Thursday, June 6th in the Parish Centre at 8.00pm. All members are requested to attend. 

Bailieborough Walking Group: Wednesday, June 5th –  Dartrey Forest, Cootehill: (M) Walk 1 Hour 30 min. (E) Walk 1 Hour.

Leaving Bailieborough Library at 6.45pm. Walk commences at 7.15pm at the car park on the Cootehill to Rockcorry road R188. 1 kilometre from Cootehill on the right before Abbott’s factory.

First Friday: Due to increasing demands on his time at present, Fr. Michael will be unable to visit all of the sick and housebound in the Bailieborough Church Area at the usual times before he steps down as Parish Priest on June 11th. He, will however, make sure to call on those on his list before June 21st.

Cavan County Museum: New Opening Hours:  Starting on Sunday next, 2nd June, the Cavan County Museum will open from 2 p.m. – 5.30 p.m. every Sunday for June, July, August and September. Tuesday – Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Closed Mondays.

Last chance to book for the Diocesan and Parish Pilgrimage to Knock: This year’s Parish Pilgrimage will be to Knock and will take place on Sunday, June 16th—the same day as the Kilmore Diocesan Pilgrimage. A few places are left on the bus, which will cost €15 return and will leave St. Anne’s Church Carpark in Bailieborough at 9.00am.  Anyone interested in travelling on the Bus from Bailieborough is asked to give their name to the Secretary in the Parish Office as soon as possible. Library: Martin Fullen, celebrating Bealtaine Festival. Martin will facilitate a one day still life programme on Saturday July 6th from 10.30am-4.30pm at a cost of €35 pp. There are a few places available. Contact us on 042 9665779 if interested!

CMETB Adult Education Guidance and Information Service (Aegis): Are you an adult thinking about returning to education or training? If so, an Adult Guidance Councillor will be available for drop-in queries, every second Thursday, the next one taking place at Bailieborough Library from 10.00am to 2.00pm on Thursday, June 13th

Parish Office: The Parish Office in Bailieborough will be closed for annual leave from Thursday, June 6th until 12pm on Friday, June 14th.

Walk, Jog, Run or Crawl! Run, walk, crawl or jog every Monday and Wednesday evenings at the Community Centre, Chapel Road, Bailieborough at 8pm.  It’s free!!!! And there is no catch! All newcomers welcome.  Also the Saturday morning Leisure Group Cycle is back for 2019 and takes place on Saturday mornings leaving from the Community Centre, Bailieborough at 9.00AM. Please bring euros for coffee stop and all welcome.

Bailieborough Social Day Group: The next get-together of the Bailieborough Social Day Group will take place on Wednesday, June 5th in the Community Centre from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. New people always welcome to join this group.

Citizen’s Information: The service takes place every Tuesday from 1.30pm to 2.30pm in the Library— providing information, advice and advocacy supports to everyone on Social welfare, employment, Pensions, Health, Tax etc.  No appointment necessary.

Sing Song/Trad Night: Looking forward to seeing you all for the big sing song/trad night coming up on Friday 14th June at 10PM in The Tank Pub, Denn. Come along and give us a song, play a tune or tell us a story. Raffle on the night also for Saint Christopher’s Hospice Cavan.  Tickets €2 each or 3 for €5. First prize is €200; second prize is a beautiful Hamper plus loads of other prizes on the night. A night not to be missed!!

Lavey Ladies GAA 6th Annual 5k/10k Fun Run is on Sunday, June 16th in aid of Ballyjamesduff Cancer Support Fund.  Registration starts at 11am at Lavey Community Centre.  The Run starts at 12.30.  €10 for Adults, €5 for kids €20 for family.  Get your running shoes on for a great local cause!
