Bailieborough Midsummer Festival and Town Events: Bailieborough MidSummer Festival is back. We’re so excited to announce we are back for the first time since 2019 on Sunday, July 24th.

We need your help. We are planning to have a Festival on Sunday the 24th  of July. In order for this to go ahead we need more volunteers to join our committee.

Deepest Sympathy: Deepest Sympathy is extended to husband John,  loving children Michael (Aoife), Laura (Nicholas), Joe (Emma), Julie-Ann (Dwayne), Katie (Leon), Margaret (Abbey), Dawn (Connor), brother Matt Argue, grandchildren, sister-in-law Shirley, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends on the death of Kathleen Murray (nee Argue) Tandragee, Kells Road, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan, who passed away on Wednesday, 1st June 2022, peacefully at her residence, following a short illness.

Kathleen’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Patrick’s Church, Tierworker on Friday morning, June 3rd followed by Cremation afterwards in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.  

Date for your Diary: The Blessing of the Graves in St. Annes Cemetery, Bailieborough will take place on Sunday, September 4th at 12 noon.

Wednesday, June 8th  – Skeagh/Corglass/Drumkeerey

  • – 1.5hr approx. Leaving Baillieborough Library at 7.00pm. Meet at roadside opposite Skeaghville Chalets. From Bailieborough take Cavan road for 3 km, turn right for Cootehill Road R191 , At 2km take a right at sign for Skeaghville, continue straight on this road for approx 2km. Walk commencing at 7.15pm.

Wednesday, June 15th – Deerpark Forest, Virginia(M) 1 hour 30 min. (approx). Leaving Bailieborough Library at 6.50pm. Walk commences at Virginia Showgrounds at 7.15pm.

Killan Community Games: Killan community games (incorporating Bailieborough and Shercock) will be entering the Girls soccer competitions at U12 and U15 age groups. We’ll be holding open training sessions over the next few weeks, where any interested girls from the Bailieborough and Shercock area are welcome to come along, join in and have some fun. Training sessions will take place on Monday evenings, from 6.15 to 7.45pm at the Vale Soccer grounds, Bailieborough. Further info available via our Facebook page, or by contacting us at 0868156532.

Stroll—Athon: West Knockbride Parents Association will hold a ‘Stroll-athon’ at Knockbride GFC pitch from 3.00pm – 4.30pm on Sunday next, 12th  June 2022. Please join us to celebrate the end of a normal school year and to raise funds for our school. A raffle will be held on the day for summer themed prizes. Entry €20 per family or €5 per person.

Bailieborough Tidy Towns:  Bailieborough Tidy Towns plan to Tidy up and weed stackers and roundabouts on Saturday, June 25th. Meet at the Library at 2pm. Lots of help wanted. All welcome..Wear gloves.

Big Breakfast Morning:  

Bailieborough Shamrocks are hosting their Club Breakfast Morning for Club members. Please come and join us in the BailieHotel on Sunday next, June 12th from 10.30am.

Regretted Death: Deepest Sympathy is extended to husband James, daughter Jacqueline, sons John and Tony, son in-law Martin Farrell, daughter in-law Agnes Dalton. Brothers John and Phil, sisters Mary, Kitty and Bernadette, grandchildren Jason, Aoife and Amelia, brothers in-law, sisters in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family and a wide circle of friends on the death of Brigid Dalton (née Clarke), Lispopple, Coole, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath and formerly of Corodoagh, Tunnyduff, Baileborough,Co. Cavan who passed away, peacefully at Mullingar, Midlands Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, June 1st 2022.

Brigid was predeceased by her granddaughter Rebecca and her brother Owen.

Brigid’s Funeral Mass took place in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Coole, on Friday, 3rd   June,  with burial afterwards in Mayne Cemetery, Coole.

Bailieboro Celtic A.F.C.: The Club’s  Annual General Meeting takes place in the Club Rooms at the Vale Grounds on Thursday 16th  June at 8:30 pm. 

Players born 2011-2014 interested in joining the club please get in contact. Like every other club we need a helping hand with coaches and volunteers.

Bailieborough Craft Club: Meetings take place every Friday, upstairs in the Library from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Looking forward to seeing everyone and new members most welcome.

Walk, Jog or Run: Bailieborough Chapel Carpark, Chapel Road (Lakeside), every Monday and Wednesday from 8.00pm to 9.00pm, for all levels of fitness. Other activities available—weather permitting. Bailieborough Hen’s Shed: Bailieborough Hen’s Shed are delighted to host a talk by Margaret Mortimer from the Bailieborough Heritage Society on Thursday, June 9th. The talk is about the Old Cemetery in Drumbannon. Takes place Upstairs in Bailieborough Library from 10am to 12pm. All welcome. 

Deepest Sympathy: Deepest Sympathy is extended to wife Marie, son Laurence, daughter Martina, son-in-law Mark, daughters-in-law Barbara and Rossella, grandchildren, James, Anthony, Valentino, Jessica, Alessandro, Luke and Marco, sisters Kathleen, Chrissie, Ellen and Mary and extended family and  many neighbours and friends on the death of Lar (Laurence) Farrell, late of Bailieborough, Co. Cavan, previously of Darcytown, Balrothery, Co. Dublin, who passed away peacefully in St.Francis Hospice Raheny on Wednesday, June 1st 2022. Lar was predeceased by his son Leonard and sisters Hannah and Nancy and brother Matt.Lar’s Funeral Mass took place in S.S. Peter and Paul’s Church, Balbriggan on Friday, June 3rd followed by burial in Ardla Cemetery, Skerries, Co. Dublin.  

Rhythmic Dance Twirlers: Beginner classes take place every Wednesday evening from 5.00pm to 6.00pm, in the Courthouse, Lower Main St, Bailieborough. Boys and girls aged 4 and up, are welcome to join us. Contact, Kelly Clarke for further information.  

Tractor Run: Sillan Vintage Club will hold a tractor run on Saturday next, 11th June 2022. Vintage and classic cars and bikes are also welcome and will travel a separate route. The run will commence at Corglass Church, Bailieborough, A82 NH74 at 4pm with registration from 2.30pm. Entry fee €20 with proceeds to fund a AED Defibrillator for Corglass Church and surrounding areas. Refreshments afterwards in the church hall. All support greatly appreciated. East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Hurling News 6th June 2022Seniors; A very positive start to the Cuchulainn League with a win v Cootehill in round one. A hardworking but good performance in good conditions ideal for hurling in Mullagh on Wednesday last. Next up is a trip to Monaghan town to take on the local Harps club in round two. Training continues on Monday at 8 in Bailieborough. Under 13/15; The under 13s await their divisional semi final in the Tain League while the 15s wait for the next competition.Training for both on Monday at 7.30 in Bailieborough. Under 11; Training on Monday at 7 in Bailieborough GAA astro pitch with the next round of the Monaghan Under 11 league with a trip to North Monaghan on Sunday next to play Truagh Gaels. Under 7/9; The U9s will return to outdoor training on Monday next on the astro in Bailieborough and the next blitz is scheduled for the 15th . The U7s will be hopefully ready for a blitz or two before they break for the summer.
