Bailieborough Midsummer Festival is back. With only a few days left until the Festival day on Sunday, July 24th , the programme of events is taking shape. Hopefully the glorious weather of last weekend will continue for the Festival Day and everyone will come along and enjoy the day.

 Car Treasure Hunt for the Pat Argue Perpetual Trophy.

Saturday 23rd  of July. Starts at 2:30pm and runs until 4:30pm.

Walking Treasure Hunt.

Registration is in the Bailie Hotel.

Family Fun Day on Sunday, July 24th from 12-6pm. Duathlon, Dog Show, Kids Creation Station, Art Exhibition, Ducking Chair, Food and Craft stalls and lots of free amusements and entertainment.

Music by Paul Leavy followed by Big Generator.

Admission €10 per person – Children under 16 are free!

Duathlon in Bailieborough at St.Anne’s GAA pitch as part of the Festival. Run 2.5k, Cycle 20k and run 2.5 k.  No big hills involved. Fit for all 5 k fun run and a fun filled day afterwards in Bailieborough. Live music, dog shows, amusements and family entertainment.

Deepest Sympathy: Deepest Sympathy is extended to wife and best friend Angela, children Sinéad, Barry, Sharon and Nicola and their partners Benny, Mark and Cathal, and adored grandchildren Shay and Danny, brothers and sisters Maureen, Una, Patrick, Noeleen, Charlie, Rita, Helen, Betty, Mary Lou, Paul and Gary, brothers and sisters in-law, aunt Sr. Rita, nephews, nieces, cousins, neighbours and large circle of friends on the death of Stephen Clarke, Derryham, Bailieborough, Co.Cavan, who passed away peacefully, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, July 11th 2022. Stephen was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Agnes, his brother Philip and nephew Tommie Michael.

Stephen’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Mary’s Church, Clanaphilip, on Thursday, July 14th with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. 

Pianist Needed: The St. Annes Folk Choir are seeking a pianist/keyboard player. The Choir has been in existence for thirty years and has added grestly to so many Parish celebrations. The Choir are also interested in inviting guitar players or other instrumentalists to join them. For more information, please contact the Parish Office.  

Bailieborough Walking Group:  Wednesday, July 20th – Mullaghameen Forest, Oldcastle: (A) Walk 1.5hrs approx. Leaving Bailieborough Library at 6.30pm. Meet at Millbrook, Oldcastle at 7.05pm. Walk commences at Mullaghmeen Forest at 7.15pm.

Wednesday, July 27th – Killann/Shercock:

(M) Walk 1.5hrs approx. Meet at St. Annes Church, Killann. Take a left approx. 7km from Bailieborough heading towards Shercock. Leaving Bailieborough
Library at 6.55pm. Walk commences at 7.15pm

Bailieborough Tidy Towns: Hanging baskets are up on Main St. Help would be appreciated with watering them. Anyone with a towbar on any vehicle would be of great assistance. Volunteer for once or twice a month would be of tremendous help.  Please contact Bernie Flynn.

Regretted Death:  Deepest Sympathy is extended to Caroline Cullen and family, Woodview on the death of Caroline’s mother, Mrs. Rosaleen Lee, Degnavanty, Kill, Cootehill, who passed away on Monday, July 11th. Rosaleen’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Brigid’s Church, Kill, on Thursday morning last, July 14th, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

.Bailieboro Celtic A.F.C.: Great turn out at our Academy Soccer training for Girls and Boys on last Wednesday night. We train every Wednesday evening from 6.30pm to 7.30pm at the Vale Soccer grounds. Have fun, make new friends and learn some new skills

Players born 2011-2014 interested in joining the club please get in contact. Like every other club we need a helping hand with coaches and volunteers.

Blessing of the Graves in Moybologue: The Blessing of the Graves in Moybologue will take place on Sunday, August 21st after the 10.00am Mass in Tierworker.

Breifne Historical Society – Cumann Seanchais Bhreifne: Breifne Historical Society Summer Tour of East Cavan in conjunction with Bailieborough Heritage Society.

On Saturday next, 23rd July, starting at 11 am, in Bailieborough Development Association, Bailieborough Business Centre, Shercock Rd., A82 HH58, with a cup of coffee/tea followed by a tour and talk on the Old Church of Ireland Graveyard by Margaret Mortimer. Talk and tour of Bailieborough town by Carmel O’Callaghan.

Lunch followed by talk and tour of Moybologue Graveyard by Brian Callaghan. Suitable Rain gear and footwear are necessary.

Cost: €15 fee to cover transport and lunch.

Car Treasure Hunt: A Car Treasure Hunt in aid of the Alzheimers Society of Ireland will take place on Saturday, July 30th, commencing at St. Mary’s Hall, Tierworker. Enrty fee is €20 per car and the event runs from 2.00pm to 4.00pm. All welcome. 

Cavan Sports Partnership : Open water swimming for women. One of these locations will be at the Bailieborough Town Lake, with classes commencing on Tuesday, August 9th at 7.00pm. Booking for these classes is essential.
