Special Thanks:

Thank you to all who took part in the liturgies at St. Anne’s for Christmas time, especially the St. Anne’s N.S. Choir under the direction of Orla O’Sullivan, Mary McCabe and Bridgid Donohoe—who sang at the Children’s Mass on Christmas Eve, the Folk Choir led by Thomas Hanley and Sean O’Reilly, who were assisted by members of the ‘Hardtimes Chorus’ under the direction of Claire O’Reilly at the Midnight Mass, the St. Anne’s Senior Choir directed and guided by Derek Eakins, who played at the Christmas Morning Mass. Thanks also to the First Communion and Confirmation classes from the local National Schools and the 5th Year and 2nd Year students from Bailieborough Community School, all of whom were involved in the liturgies, the First Communion Parents Committee for their assistance at the Children’s Mass, the Eucharistic Ministers, Stewards and the Ministers of the Word. The Church was beautifully decorated and prepared for the Christmas Season by Sean O’Reilly, Olive Steenson, Marie Guckian, Geraldine Reilly, Paulius Pilipavicius and Donatas Jankauskas, the caretakers Sadie and James Clarke, the Sacristan, May Cassidy and the members of the Community Employment Scheme. Thank you also to Clarke’s, Main St., for donating the Christmas Tree.

 

Bailieborough School of Music:

School of Music: 30th Anniversary Concert: Tickets for the Bailieborough School of Music’s 30th Anniversary Concert in the Helix, DCU on Sunday, February 25th, 2018 are now on sale from the Helix Box Office or from Ann at 087 7858 509. Ticket prices are: Adult €15, Student €10 and Children 1—5 years €5.

 

Bailieborough Walking Group Committee:

The Bailieborough Walking Group Committee wish to thank all those who supported the recent walk in aid of Motor Neurone Research. A total of €2,070 was raised.

 

Adult Irish Dance Classes: 

Céilí, traditional group dances and traditional Irish dances will be taught in a fun and social environment. The aerobic workout of Irish dancing with be combined with strength, toning and flexibility. Classes will begin on Wednesday, 10th January in the Masonic Hall at 9pm. Congratulations and Well Done:

Congratulations and well done to the Bailieboro Celtic senior side who retained the ‘John Sherlock ‘Cup by defeating Magheraveely by 2-1 in Cootehill on Friday night, December 29th. Goals from Barry Tully and Jamie Fitzgerald ensured that the side ended 2017 on a high! Well done to all concerned and best wishes for 2018.

 

Moybologue Historical Society:

There are a number of unmarked plots within the walls of Moybologue Old Church. Some of those plots have flowers and plants placed on them. If you know the identity of any of these plots, would you please contact Eamonn Donnelly at 086 173 6291.

 

Social Dancing:

Social Dancing this month is by ‘J & S Sound’, a band well known for its easy listening and melodious sound in the Community Centre, Chapel Road on Saturday, January 13th. There will be supper to refresh you as you exercise to the music. Come along and you will enjoy.

 

Bailieborough Tidy Towns:

Keep Bailieborough Tidy and reduce the amount of litter by investing in a Reusable Cup for sale in ‘Daybreak’ on Barrack St. This blue cup with the Cavan logo is an ideal present for Cavan fans and Coffee lovers. All proceeds go towards the Bailieborough Tidy Towns.

Deepest Sympathy:

Deepest Sympathy is extended to wife Alice, children Sharmaine (Bexcourt Manor), Rojan (Highfield), Ray and Christian, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, grandchildren and extended family and friends on the death of Wilfredo Morales, 16 Corkerstown, Shercock, Co. Cavan, who passed away peacefully in Cavan General Hospital on Friday, December 29th, 2017. Wilfredo’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Anne’s Church, Bailieborough on Monday, January 1st, 2018 and his Funeral took place afterwards in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan. Burial of ashes to take place at a later date in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Bailieborough.

Deepest Sympathy:

Deepest Sympathy is extended to parents, David and Arlene on the death of their son, Baby Adam Guinan, Drumbannon, Bailieborough, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, 28th December 2017. Mass of the Angels for Adam took place in St. Annes Church, Bailieborough on Monday, January 1st, 2018.

The following are the available dates for Baptisms in St. Anne’s Church–January 13th (Saturday, 1.30pm), January 27th (Sunday, 12.30pm), February 11th (Sunday, 12.30pm) and February 24th (Saturday, 1.30pm).

 

Library:

Through the countrywide library network, the Healthy Ireland at your Library programme will provide a range of resources, services and support to users and communities. This programme will see talks and workshops planned for 2018, boosted by new health books, e-books, e- audiobooks and e-magazines! Anything health related please ask a member of staff! Let’s make 2018 a healthy one!

 

East Cavan Swim Club:

The East Cavan Swim Club will be returning on Wednesday 10th January.
Land training is also finished for this year and will resume on Monday 15th January.

 

Bailieborough Community Bowls:

Bailieborough Community Bowls continues every Wednesday evening at 8.00pm, in the Community Centre, Chapel Road. New members most welcome with free tuition for beginners.

 

Deepest Sympathy:

Deepest Sympathy is extended to wife Margaret, children Peter, Mary, Michael and Rosena, grandchildren Sueann, Louise, Ben, Rebecca and Patrick, sons-in-law Brian and Allan, daughter-in-law Caroline, nephews, nieces and extended family and friends on the death of Michael (Mickey) Brady, Kells Road, Bailieborough and formerly Micks Bar, Market Square, who passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, 30th December, 2017.

Mickey’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Anne’s Church on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018 and afterwards his remains were laid to rest in St. Annes Cemetery.

Everyday Irish – Tuesday evenings 3pm to 5pm

Beginner Conversational Irish Class for Adults who would like to learn the basics.

Bailieborough Library Parent, Baby and Toddler Group has proven to be a vital life line for all stay-at-home parents who may be new to the area and wish to get out of the house and make new friends. There is a huge range of toys for children to play with, while parents can enjoy a cup of tea and chat.

The group meets at the Library Arts space every Wednesday at 10.30am-12pm. Why not join their Facebook Group and keep up to date with news and events.

Variety Show Competition 

Cavan Macra na Feirme play host to the Macra na Feirme National Semi Final of the Capers Variety show competition at 8pm on Saturday 13th January in Stradone Community Centre. 5 teams from Cavan, Cork and Meath will compete for a place in the national final later this year. All welcome. Entry €10.

 

Learn to Jive with Mairead Gaffney and Craig Lovett.

Tanagh Forest School in Rossmore Park starting in February 2018. Suitable for those aged 6-12yrs. This Forest School is subsidised by Monaghan County Council’s Environmental Services and the Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund 2017. Limited spaces on the course so book early.
