Bailieborough News. January 29th 2018. Matthew J. Cullen.

No Through Road:

The new Traffic Barrier on the Galbolie Road side of St. Anne’s Church is now in operation. This will leave the area around the Church safer for pedestrians and visitors as traffic ignoring the signs and using the Avenue as a short-cut had increased steadily in recent years. Some of these cars drove across the front of the Church at high speed and there were a number of incidents, where people leaving the Church were almost knocked down. Students making their way from school were also at risk from passing traffic. The barriers will be open for all Funerals, weekend and Holy Day Masses. All Church users are reminded to use the designated parking spaces only and not to park in the unmarked areas of the Avenue.

Moybologue Historical Society:

A draft for a numbered mapboard for Moybologue New Cemetery will be on display in the porch of St. Patrick’s Church, Tierworker, this week. Relatives are asked to check the mapboard and to fill in any errors or changes on the sheets available in the porch and we will have the final version updated.

The full survey is available to view online on http://irishgraveyards.ie/search

It is planned that the mapboard will be updated every 3 to 5 years depending on the numbers of new burials.

The group plan to erect a similar style mapboard at Moybologue Old Graveyard in the Spring, and are seeking financial donations to enable this project to go ahead. If you have relatives interred in the old cemetery and / or are interested in making a donation to this work please contact any member of the committee or email moybologuehs@gmail.com

Also, this is the final call for anyone with knowledge of unmarked burials and unmarked burial locations in the old graveyard, who has not already been in contact with us, to please contact any member of the committee or email moybologuehs@gmail.com so the details can be recorded and marked. This is the last time we will be making this appeal and once the mapboard for the old graveyard is finalised, we will not be making any changes to it in future.
