Big Build Fundraiser:

On behalf of Tunnyduff Parents Association, we would like to say a massive ‘Thank you’ to everyone who helped to make our

Fundraising night on Friday,16th February 2018 in the Bailie Hotel with Johnny Brady—such a great success. The total raised for our Big Build Fund is €4575.00, which will go towards the New Extension to Our Primary School. So along with us, our children, parents, teacher’s, we are delighted with this great result. Thank you to the parents for selling tickets, also to everyone that bought one, those who paid in on the door, the many donations that we received, our raffle sellers and door attendees on the night. Also we would like to thank, SNS Hardware, Bridie Rahill, MGM Stationary, The Slieve Russell, Foxes, The Bailie Hotel, Niamh Smyth, Knockbride GFC. for all the wonderful spot prizes.

 

Confirmation:

Bishop Leo O’Reilly will be present to administer the Sacrament of Confirmation to 71 children from the Parish next Sunday, March 4th in St. Anne’s Church at 3.00 pm.

Confirmation Practice: A practice for the young people receiving Confirmation, their parents and available sponsors will take place tomorrow night, Thursday, March 1st in St. Anne’s Church at 8.00pm.

Women’s World Day of Prayer:

The annual Women’s World Day of Prayer Service will this year be held in Trinity Church, Virginia Road on Friday, March 2nd at 8.00pm. The Special Speaker will be Barbara Geddes from Killinkere. Please make a special effort to attend and share in worship with all the Churches in the area. Please also remember men are very welcome!!

Congratulations:

Congratulations to Mary Kelly, Cavan Road, who received her Gold Pin for 50 donations to the Irish Blood Transfusion Service in a function in the Headfort Hotel, Kells on Sunday night last. Mary is the Health and Social Care Officer of the local Red Cross. Mary and her team are seen supporting the Staff at the Blood Clinics in Cavan on a regular basis.

 

Bailieborough Tidy Towns:

Reduce waste and keep Cavan tidy by investing in a reusable blue coffee cup with Cavan logo. Ideal for coffee lovers and Cavan fans. This cup is for sale in Daybreak on Barrack Street. All proceeds go towards the local Tidy Towns.

 

Sponsored Dog Walk:

Bailieborough Veterinary Clinic proudly presented their 2017 ‘Dog Walk’ cheque to the Cavan SPCA last week. The total amount raised was €1065! Special thanks to everyone who donated, sponsored us and took part, and also to Liz Cahill who donated her bag of Hills Vet Essentials dog food that she received as an award at the event. Looking forward to next year!

Deepest Sympathy is extended to wife Ita, son Rory, daughter Mary, daughter-in-law Geraldine, sons-in-law Brian and Esko, grandchildren Maria, Tom, Lily and Eve, extended family and friends on the death of Paddy (Patrick E) Clarke, Kells Road and formerly Market Square, Bailieborough, Co Cavan who passed away on Tuesday, 13th February 2018 peacefully at Fairlawns Nursing Home. Paddy was predeceased by his son Piaras. Paddy’s Funeral Mass took place in St Anne’s Church, Bailieborough on Thursday, February 15th with funeral afterwards to Lakeland Crematorium, Cavan.

Limerick and formerly of Bailieborough, Co. Cavan)- on Saturday, February 10th at her residence. Ita’s Requiem Mass took place in the Church of the Assumption, Abbeyfeale on Tuesday, February 13th followed by private cremation.

 

Deepest Sympathy:

Deepest Sympathy is extended to son Eugene, daughter Margaret, daughter-in-law Mairead, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephew, nieces, relatives and friends on the death of Kathleen Carolan (nee Carolan) Cavantimahon, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan, in her 98th year, who passed away on Wednesday, 21st February 2018, peacefully at her residence. Kathleen was predeceased by her husband Patrick, infant daughter Eilleen, sister Mary McCabe and son-in-law Colman Burns. Kathleen’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Brigid’s Church, Knockbride West on Friday, February 23rd with burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

Depending on interest, FREE computer classes will start at the Library. Each class will be for 2hours for a 5-week duration. ‘Honda Run’:

A motorcycle run will take place on Sunday, March 18th in aid of raising funds for ‘The Family Comfort Room’ in St. James’s Hospital, Dublin. This run is in memory of the late, Niamh Crosby, Curkish, Bailieborough. Registration will take place from 10.00am to 12 noon, with a 12.15pm start at Enagh House (located approx. 2kms from Virginia on the Virginia—Bailieborough Road). The run distance is 55miles and the entry fee is €20. All bikes are welcome and light refreshments will be served before and after. Bailieborough Historical Society:

The Bailieborough Historical Society is planning an exhibition of artefacts manufactured in and related to Bailieborough’s industrial past. This will take place during Heritage Week in August. Best wishes to local lady, Jenny O’Brien Kinsella from Mountain Lodge along with setting up her own business called ‘WeightMatters with Jenny’, (classes each Monday in The Bailie Hotel 8pm) she has written a book, which contains lots of recipes, hints and tips for a healthier lifestyle. Her book was launched in SuperValu, Bailieborough on Friday last.  Books are priced at €10 each.

 

St. Patrick’s Day Parade:

The Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the town will take place on Saturday, 17th March. This year there will be €1,500 in prizes, prizes for best club, comedy, business, and window display. In an effort to invigorate the parade in our town, we are looking for more help and ideas from you all, we are proposing a special category for clubs in the area with a prize of €500 for best club float or pageant. We’d really appreciate all businesses big or small to put in a float (all entered free). Any ideas please get in touch with any committee member. Stations of the Cross:

The Stations of the Cross will take place during Lent immediately after the 7.00pm Mass on Friday, 2nd March, 9th March, 16th March and 23rd March.

 

Safe Pass:

5K Walk/Run:

A 5K Walk/Run will take place on Sunday next, March 4th at 12 noon, commencing at the Community Centre, Chapel Road in Bailieborough. Funds raised will help Aisling Claffey towards her participation in an organised trip to Sri Lanka—where Aisling will volunteer in Mental Health Services for four weeks. Your donations and participation are very welcome. Tea afterwards in the Community Centre. Hope to see you there!

 

Bridge:

Bridge takes place every Tuesday evening in the Hotel Bailie at 8.00pm. New members are always most welcome.

 

Ballinamoney Parents Association:

Ballinamoney Parents Association are holding a ‘Table Quiz’ in the Royal Breffni, Tierworker on Friday, March 9th commencing at 9.00pm. 40 per table of four. All welcome.

Beginner Conversational Irish Class for Adults who would like to learn the basics.

Bailieborough Library Parent, Baby and Toddler Group has proven to be a vital life line for all stay-at-home parents who may be new to the area and wish to get out of the house and make new friends. There is a huge range of toys for children to play with, while parents can enjoy a cup of tea and chat.

The group meets at the Library Arts space every Wednesday at 10.30am-12pm. Why not join their Facebook Group and keep up to date with news and events.
