Bailieborough Tidy Towns: Launch of Tidy Towns Plan – Landscape and Natural Heritage Design Proposal:

Bailieborough Tidy Towns in conjunction with the Town Centre First initiative have been working together to develop a new Tidy Town Plan for Bailieborough. The aim of the plan is to aid Bailieborough plan and manage current and future projects within the remit of the National Tidy Towns Competition. The launch of the plan will take place on Thursday, 29th February in Bailieborough Courthouse at 7.30pm.

Photographic Exhibition:Friends of Castle Lake Catchment photography exhibition, ‘The Colour of Nature’, takes place at the Library until the end of February.

Bailieborough Group of Parishes: We are thrilled to announce that Abaana’s New Life Choir will be travelling all the way from Uganda to perform for us on Monday 18th  March. Make sure to keep this night free and invite your friends and family as it is sure to be an incredible night.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade: All floats welcome : Vintage cars, bikes,  tractors,

Comedy floats, Sports clubs,  All Business Floats, Entry of floats is FREE of charge.

Saint Anne’s National School: Parents Association: The Saint Anne’s N.S. Parents Association are holding a ‘Bake Sale’ on Sunday, March 3rd at 11.00am in the Community Centre, Chapel Road. Why not pop over for a cake! Raffle for great prizes, Kid’s gifts and Mother’s Day hampers. All donations welcome and can be dropped off at 10.15am. Raffle for spot prizes on the day. Information evening in Bailieborough on supports available for vacant and derelict buildings and energy upgrades for businesses.

Cavan County Council in collaboration with Cavan County Local Development

(CCLD) will host an information evening for owners of vacant and derelict properties

as well as for businesses to hear about supports that are currently available to them

for refurbishment, and for energy upgrades of their properties. The event will take

place on Monday 4th  March in the Bailie Hotel at 7.30pm. The event is free and

while it is targeted at businesses and property owners in Bailieborough, it is open to

everyone to attend. A number of companies will be attending on the night to provide

advice and information on retrofitting for businesses.

Knockbride Bazaar: The Knockbride bazaar takes place in in Tunnyduff Hall on Friday next, 23rd  February at 8pm. Great selection of prizes and everyone welcome.

 Bailieborough Bowls: Bowls continues on Wednesday’s at 8.00pm, in the Community Centre, Chapel Road. New members are very welcome.

Regretted Death:  Deepest Sympathy is extended to children, Tommie, Annie, Stephen, Johnnie, Martin, Louise and Richard, brothers Raymond, Tony, Alfie and Desmond, sister Kathleen, grandchildren, great grandchildren, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and large circle of friends on the death of John (Johnnie) Gilsenan, Tierworker, Kells, Co. Meath, who passed away on Saturday, 17th February 2024, peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Johnnie was predeceased by his wife Phylis and daughter Dawn. 

Johnnie’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Patrick’s Church, Tierworker on Monday, February 19th  and  afterwards Johnnie’s remains were laid to rest in the new Moybologue Cemetery.

Women’s World Day of Prayer: The ‘Women’s World Day of Prayer’ Service will be held in Corglass Presbyterian Church on Friday, March 1st at 8.00pm. Guest speaker will be Jenny Horner. Everyone welcome.

Cavan Sports Partnership: Women’s ‘Dip and Dash’ : Kick off Women in Sport week by signing up to our ‘Dip and Dash’ event taking place in Bailieborough Leisure Club.

Complete a 200 m swim followed by a 2k walk or run.

Enjoy a complimentary coffee and a treat once you complete the course.

A Dip and Dash is the perfect way to try out a dual sport, have fun and meet other like minded women! The event takes place at Bailieborough Leisure Centre on Sunday, March 3rd, commencing at 9.00am.

Bailieborough Library: ‘Thank you’ to everyone who attended the January meeting of the Library Book Club. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday,  February 27th  at 6.30pm and new members are always welcome. Copies of February’s read, ‘Antarctica’ by Claire Keegan are available to borrow at the Library desk.

Craft Group meets every Friday at 10.30am and new members are always welcome

Colour of Nature’ Photographic Exhibition featuring images from the local catchment area may be viewed at the Library during Library opening hours.

Careers: Thinking of changing career, need advice on careers, educational needs, CV help, interview skills – CMETB (Cavan Monaghan Education and Training Board) will facilitate a FREE drop in service at the Library on the first Wednesday—please note the change of day— of each month from 2pm-4.30pm. No appointment is necessary.

Bailieborough Men’s Shed: Bailieborough ‘Men’s Shed’ is open every Tuesday morning from 10.00am to 1.00pm in the Bexcourt Centre, Shercock Road. New members are always most welcome.

All old and new people welcome.  It’s a well lit up run.  Stretch before and afterwards, every Monday and Wednesday evening.  

East Cavan Gaels GAA Club: Hurling News 19th February 2024

Senior; County lads have no competitive fixture this week as they prepare for the big trip out west to take on Mayo next weekend.

Club adult training is a few weeks away in preparation for what promises to be a very competitive season ahead.

Cavan U20s; Another good workout for this squad, with ECG men in tow on Sunday v a Strong Tyrone side in Kingspan Breffni. Special mention to Cian O’Brien who made his competitive debut. Onwards and upwards for this squad as they head for Armagh next week for round 3.

After school hurling; Full steam ahead for the three venues in Shercock, Mullagh and Bailieborough all the way until Easter.
