Genealogy Night:
Bailieborough Heritage Society will hold a Genealogy Night in Bailieborough Business Centre on Thursday next, 25th February at 8pm. Carmel O’Callaghan will share her vast knowledge on the subject, so come along and learn how to research your family tree, what sources are available and how to overcome obstacles that you may encounter along the way. All welcome.

Deepest Sympathy is extended to the families, relatives and friends of Colm Clarke (late of Main St.) and son of Francis and Sheila Clarke, Virginia Road on the sudden death of Colm’s wife, Gemma Carcaterra, Killaloe, Co. Clare on Thursday last and whose funeral took place on Monday, to the families, relatives and friends of Mrs. Mary Smith, Kells Road whose funeral took place on Sunday, to the families, relatives and friends of Mrs. Betty Gilsenan, Woodview, whose sister, Nell McKennedy, Essex, England died recently, to the relatives, families and friends of Bobby O’Callaghan, The Mews, Virginia Road, on the death of his mother, Sheila O’Callaghan, Birr, Co. Offaly, and the families, relatives and friends of Pat Tierney, brother of Pauline McEvoy, Barrack St., who died last week.
WORLD DAY OF PRAYER:
An Ecumenical Service of Prayer will take place in St. Anne’s Church, Bailieborough with the theme ‘Receive Children, Receive Me’ on Friday, March 4th, at 8pm. The service will include participation by members of the local Presbyterian and Church of Ireland communities. Martha Lievens, Principal of Bailieborough Community School, will be the keynote speaker. Music will be provided by St. Anne’s Choir and the Shercock Children’s choir. All welcome.
Knockbride Heritage Group:
Minister Heather Humphreys T.D. will unveil the Knockbride Historical Map and Corleck Head Sign at Corleck/Drumeague crossroads, Bailieborough on Thursday, 18th February 2016 at 2pm. Refreshments afterwards in Knockbride Church of Ireland Hall. Everyone most welcome. A Project by Knockbride Heritage Group. (Location: 5 km from Bailieborough Creamery/Bailie Foods on the L3515).
ST. VINCENT DePaul CONFERENCE:
BAILIEBOROUGH wish to express appreciation to the parishioners of Bailieborough, Shercock, Killann, Knockbride and Tierworker Churches for their generous contributions to the Annual Christmas Appeal. Well Done:
Well done to Leanne Kiernan who fired in a late goal to help the Republic of Ireland Women’s Under 17s draw 1-1 with Poland in a friendly in Warsaw, in preparation for the side’s three Elite Phase qualifiers in March. Also, well done to the Bailieboro Celtic Senior side who defeated Dunshaughlin Youths by 10—0 in their game at the Vale Grounds on Sunday last.

Keep Fit and Learn Self-Defence:
New ‘Shinken-Do’ Martial Arts classes taking place at the Wesleyan Chapel on Wednesday evenings at 8.00pm. These are practical self-defence classes in which you do not need to be flexible or fit in order to train, therefore it is for everyone. It is a fun way to learn self-defence and get fit by doing so. Classes are open to both male and female.
First class is free to all beginners and it has an age limit of over 14 year olds.

Hurling News:
East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Hurling News 15th February 2016
Under 6/8/10; Good work continues at training in both Kingscourt and Bailieborough. We had our first U8/10 blitz of the year away to our friends in Carrick on Saturday last where the boys did really well. Lots more of these blitzes to come.
Under 13; The Under 13 finals night, was played on Monday last on the 3G in Breffni Park in very cold conditions. Our first team did well and our second team did really well reaching the Shield Final, a great achievement for them as a lot of this squad was made up from our junior boys aged 11 upwards and was their first taste of real hurling after moving up from U10.
The Under 12 Spring league is next up in Feb/March.
Under 14/16/18; Training plans are being finalised and training will resume in the next few weeks. All players will receive a text.
Community School football; Commiserations to the Bailieboro Community School boys who put up a great fight in the replay but ultimately were defeated.

Tullyvin Musical Society:
We take to the stage for our first ever shows on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th February at 8pm in Tullyvin Community Centre. With performances from talented locals, “Celebrating Musical Theatre” promises to be a fun night of all your favourite show tunes and not to be missed! Tickets €10 at the door. Kayak Skills Camp:
Tanagh Outdoor Education and Training Centre will be running a Kayak Skills Camp on the 29th-31st March from 10am-2pm for 9-16 year olds. The camp will introduce paddlers to the basic kayak skills. Participants will be required to travel each day to and from the centre.
