Hardtimes Chorus

Our next show is in St. Anne’s Church, Bailieborough on Sunday next, 11th December at 7.30pm.  It’s called ‘The Heart Of Christmas’. We would be grateful of all support on the night as we perform all the favourite Christmas carols, just to start the Festive Season. Bailieborough has a great tradition of community spirit, so it would be great see as many people as possible in St Anne’s Church on the night. Voluntary Donations in Aid Of St. Vincent De Paul.

 

 Bailieborough School of Music

Bailieborough School of Music present ‘An Evening of ‘Christmas Carols and Reflection’ in St Anne’s Church, on Friday December 16th at 8.00pm. This will be an opportunity to take some time away from the rush to reflect quietly on the meaning of Christmas while listening to some seasonal music and readings.

Saturday December 17th ‘Christmas Concert’ in Community School at 3pm, featuring lots of lively festive tunes from our Junior students.

Everyone welcome to these events. No admission charge. Proceeds from donation basket in Church and Raffle in Community School to St Vincent de Paul and Community School Canteen Fund. All welcome.

Bailieborough Community Choir

The committee of Community Choir would like to thank all that came to support their recent fund raising quiz in Fox’s Lounge in Bailieborough on Friday, December 2nd. We would also like to thank all those that donated prizes for the night, to Edel and Eugene Fox for their hospitality and help, Pat and Rose Fitzpatrick and Stanley Lundy and everyone who attended. We hope that this will become an annual event.

 

 

CONFIRMATION PREPARATION MASS

Those preparing for Confirmation and their parents/guardians will participate in the 7pm Mass next Saturday evening, December 10th.

The following are the available dates for Baptisms in St. Anne’s Church for December and January –December 11th (Sunday 12.30pm), December 17th (Saturday 1.30pm), January 14th (Saturday, 1.30pm.) and January 29th (Sunday, 12.30pm).

Baptism Preparation Meeting for Parents

This Thursday (December 8th) in the Parish Centre (Parochial House beside Church) from 8pm to 9pm. All parents who are intending to have their child baptised are required to attend this meeting before finalising the date. Please call 087-4407990.

Bailieborough:  Christmas Eve – 6pm (Children’s Mass) and 12am (Midnight Mass).  Christmas Day – 11am.

Killann: Christmas Eve – 8pm and Christmas Day – 10am.

Shercock: Christmas Eve – 10pm and Christmas Day – 11.30am.

Confessions: Bailieborough: Sunday 18th – 7pm (Reconciliation Service) and Saturday 24th – 12pm to 3pm.

Deepest Sympathy

Deepest Sympathy is extended to James, Mary (Kelly), John, Ann (Tierney), Thomas, Tony, Aidan, Paul and Andrew, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family and friends on the death of Mary (Della) Fay, nee Lynch, Tunnyduff, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan who passed away on Wednesday, 23rd November 2016, peacefully at Cavan General Hospital. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Benny, Daughter, Margaret (Callaghan) and grandson Paul. Mary’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Brigid’s Church, Knockbride West on Saturday, November 26th with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Social Dancing

Our Christmas Party Dance takes place on next Saturday night, 10th of December in the Community Centre. There will be a free raffle for prizes galore. Supper will be served. Music is by Footsteps. You can be assured of an enjoyable night. All welcome.

 

Well Done

Well done to Leanne Kiernan and Shelbourne Ladies Football Club who won the Continental Tyres Women’s National League on Wednesday night last with a 3-1 win over UCD Waves FC! This completes a League and Cup double for Leanne and Shelbourne and now the girls can look forward to representing the Republic in the Champions League in 2017! Well done Leanne on an outstanding and memorable season.

 

 

Moonlight Walk

A ‘Moonlight Walk’ will take place on Friday evening next, December 9th in aid of the Tierworker Defibrillator Fund. Meet at the Royal Breffni, Tierworker at 7.15pm. Please bring a torch and wear suitable footwear. There will be a short walk and a longer one on Lough An Lae. Donations are voluntary and there will be refreshments afterwards in the Royal Breffni. All welcome.

Saturday, December 17th: ‘Messy Church’ in Bailieborough Hall from 2.00pm to 4.00pm.

Sunday, December 18th: ‘Carols for All’ in Knockbride at 12 noon and Mullagh at 4.00pm.

Saturday, December 24th—Christmas Eve—Holy Communion in Shercock at 7.00pm and Mullagh at 8.30pm.

Sunday, December 25th—Christmas Day—Traditional Christmas Service in Bailieborough at 10.00am and Knockbride at 11.30am.

Congratulations and Well Done

Congratulations and well done to the Bailieboro Drama Group who were placed 3rd in the Confined section of the All Ireland Drama Festival held in the Mill Theatre, Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin 16 over last weekend. Well done to all and particularly to Liz O’Hanlon who won the award for Best Writing or Innovation at the event.

 

Walk, Jog Or Run….

Exercising Is FUN! Every Monday and Wednesday evenings at 8pm join us at Bailieborough Community Centre! All welcome—no matter what your fitness levels are!. Ok folks, join us to run, jog or walk and most importantly tea, biscuits, fruit and chat afterwards.

Parent, Baby and Toddler group: Weekly meeting at Bailieborough Library.

Bailieborough Library Parent, Baby and Toddler Group has proven to be a vital life line for all stay-at-home parents who may be new to the area and wish to get out of the house and make new friends. There is a huge range of toys for children to play with, while parents can enjoy a cup of tea and chat.

The group meets at the Library Arts space every Wednesday at 10.30am-12pm. Why not join their Facebook Group and keep up to date with news and events.

Citizens Information every Tuesday 1.30pm-2.30pm on a first come first served basis;

Craft Group every Friday 10.30am-1pm;

Book Club 6pm-7pm last Thursday of every month;

Bailieborough Shamrocks GAA Club: Annual General Meeting of the Club on Saturday, 10th December at 8pm: Bailieborough Shamrocks GAA Club are holding their Annual General Meeting on Saturday, 10th December (please note change of day) 2016 at 8pm in the Clubrooms of St Anne’s Park. Calling ALL sections of the Club to attend as well as members, players, mentors, supporters and the wider community. Everyone is welcome. Let’s all move our great club forward together as one. Please attend, new members welcome and appreciated. There will be a cup of tea and a chance to mingle at the end of the AGM. Look forward to seeing a big crowd on the night

East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Hurling News 5th December 2016

     

Under 6/8/10; One more session each before we wrap up for the year. No Kingscourt session this week. Bailieborough last session this Friday 6-7.30 for all U6/8s with last session in Kingscourt Thursday 15th. Under 10 has now also finished for the year.

Under 12/14/16/18; Both the U13 and Minor competitions have been deferred to the Spring so our season for all our older players has now finished for the year. Thanks to all our players, coaches and mentors for all of their hard work with hurling again this year. We have some very exciting developments to announce early in the New Year in relation to hurling so watch this space…..

CROSS COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR, SUNDAY 11TH DEC at 10 30am, CROSS COMMUNITY HALL. Homemade cakes, puddings, pies etc. Handmade arts and crafts, logs and wreaths, lucky dip,
refreshments and raffle and much, much, more. All welcome.

 

A CHRISTMAS PARADE OF LIGHTS TRACTOR RUN

Saturday next, 10/12 from Killinkere Leisure Centre. All proceeds in aid of the Children’s Ward in Cavan General Hospital. Registration €20 per tractor from 2-3pm and leaving at 4pm sharp.  All vehicles must have road worthy lights and insurance. Your support and/or attendance would be greatly appreciated.

 

CHRISTMAS CRAFT & GIFT FAIR,
