Bailieborough Red Cross: A CFR training session will take place on Thursday, 7th  December at 7.15 at the Bailie Hotel, to train up staff from local businesses, who have donated money to the fund on how to preform CPR and use the Defibrillator in the event of a cardiac arrest. Bailieborough Heritage Society: Bailieborough Heritage Society will launch it’s website in Bailieborough Library on Thursday 7th December at 3 pm, all welcome. Refreshments served. Special thanks to the Community and Enterprise Department of Cavan County Council for financial assistance with this project.

Christmas Lights: A huge ‘Thank You’ to all the volunteers, who took part in putting up the Christmas lights, and those who helped make Santa’s grotto happen.Thank you to all the school children for their lovely decorations.Thank you to Santa and his amazing elves!!! and also thanks to the many people who were at the Market Square for the turning on, of the Christmas Lights.

Coffee Morning: History Talk: A ‘Coffee Morning, History Talk’ about the history of Bailieborough Town ‘From the Iron Age to the Free State’ will take place in Bailieborough Courthouse on Friday, December 8th at 10.30am. Bailieborough Group of Parishes: Christmas Programme: There’s something for everyone this Christmas at the Bailieborough Group of Parishes. A warm welcome to all.

Saturday, 9th December: 11:30am in Bailieborough -‘A Quiet Christmas’.This is a quiet service, in preparation for the Christmas celebrations, that gives space for reflection, prayer and healing for those grieving or otherwise saddened at Christmas time. It is of course open to anyone who wants quiet prayer and worship at Christmas.

4-6pm in Bailieborough Hall –‘Messy Church’.

Sunday 17th December: 10:30am in Knockbride ‘Carols for All’.

1:30pm in Mullagh ‘Carols for All’.

7pm in Bailieborough ‘Traditional Carols’ – A united carol service for the whole community.

Bailieborough Cancer Comfort Ltd: Bailieborough Cancer Comfort Ltd presents ‘A Christmas Reflection’ on this Friday, December 8th at 8.30pm at the old Post Office on Main Street. Everyone welcome.

Christmas Day Swim: This year is the 30th year of the Christmas Day Swim in Bailieborough.  Sponsorship Cards are available from reception in Bailieborough Leisure Centre or by calling Brendan on 087 275 8890,  Mary on 086 068 8714 or any MS Cavan committee member. The swim starts at 12.30 pm, sharp at the Town Lake, Cavan Rd side. Everyone very welcome.

Christmas Tractor Run: Ballinamoney Parents Association are having a Christmas Lights Tractor Run on Sunday next, 10th  December. Join us for an afternoon of tractors and treats! All to raise funds for our school activities and hopefully a new PA system.

Registration is in St Mary’s Hall, Tierworker from 11.30am with the Run to kick off from 12.30pm.

Refreshments and Raffle on the day.

Bailieborough Community: ‘Turkey Walk: The Bailieborough Community ‘Turkey Walk’ in aid of SOSAD, Cavan and Parkinsons, Cavan’ . Easy and long routes to suit all,  will take place on Tuesday, December 26th, at the BDA Centre, Shercock Road at 11.00am. Wear suitable footwear and donations voluntary. All welcome.

Careers: Thinking of changing career, need advice on careers, educational needs, CV help, interview skills – CMETB (Cavan Monaghan Education and Training Board) will facilitate a FREE drop in service at the Library on the first Wednesday—please note the change of day— of each month from 2pm-4.30pm. The advisors will be present on Wednesday, December 6th.  No appointment is necessary.

Walk, Jog or Run: Now that the evenings are short again, there will be running and walking for all levels,  beginners and advanced. Fun and free, social gathering in the Chapel car park,  Lake Shore,  Bailieborough at 8pm. All old and new people welcome.  It’s a well lit up run.  Stretch before and afterwards, every Monday and Wednesday evening.  

East Cavan Gaels GAA Club: Hurling News 4th December 2023

Senior; Seniors preparing for Cavan league final v Cootehill which will be on Saturday next 9th December at 2pm with venue tbc.

U17/15/13/11/9/7;

Most of all our lads work is now complete bar the U11/13/15s at county training in Kingspan Breffni with the final U11/13 this coming Tuesday at 6.30 and the U15s have a final game v Fermanagh in Kingspan Breffni 3G on the 15th.

After school hurling; The after school hurling programme is complete for this term and should return on the first week of February 2024. Well done to all who attended, especially those who are new to the game.

Table Quiz; A great night was had on Friday at our Annual Table Quiz held again as usual by our gracious hosts at Nixys, The Square Bar Bailieborough.

Once again Mark and Caroline Argue set a real test and the grey matter was put to a real test resulting in a tie with a playoff round to decide the eventual winners who were; 1st: Oliver Tierney, Gerry Heery, Tony Carolan and Billy Thompson.

2nd: Tosh McEntee, Jason Forde, Clodagh McEntee and Caelinn McEntee.
