Bailieborough Athletic Club:

The Bailieborough Athletic Club’s Annual Fun Run and Walk will take place on St Stephens Day.  5K Walk / Fun Run or 10K Run. Start and Finish: St Anne’s Community Centre, Chapel Road.

Start at 12 noon, Registration from 11am. Route: Castle Lake and Forest.

Refreshments and Spot Prizes. Proceeds to SOSAD. All welcome.

 

Bailieborough School of Music:

To celebrate the official launch of our 30th Anniversary Concert in the Helix on Feb 25th, 2018, our Senior Band will host an ‘Open Band Rehearsal’ next Friday evening, December 15th from 7.15pm in the Community School. We would like to invite parents, past students/families and friends of the school to join us for a cuppa. Tickets for the Helix go on sale this week, details to follow.

St. Annes, Bailieborough:  Christmas Eve—Sunday, December 24th: 6.00pm—Children’s Mass—The 6pm Mass is primarily for children and young families—please expect movement and noise during the service.

Midnight Mass: 12 am.

Christmas Day: Monday, December 25th at 10.00am.

St. Annes, Killann: Christmas Eve at 8.00pm and Christmas Day at 10.00am.

St. Patricks, Shercock: Christmas Eve at 10.00pm and Christmas Day at 11.30am.

Confessions: Saturday, December 23rd from 12pm to 3.00pm in St. Anne’s, Bailieborough and on Tuesday, 19th December at 7.00pm in St. Patrick’s, Shercock.

 

Bailieborough Tidy Towns:

Communal Rite of Reconciliation:

A Communal Rite of Reconciliation will take place in St. Anne’s Church, Bailieborough on Sunday evening next, December 17th at 7.00pm. All welcome.

 

St. Bridget’s N.S. Tunnyduff:

St. Brigid’s National School, Tunnyduff – Open and Enrolment Evening in the school on Monday next, 18th December from 5 to 7 pm. Parents and children are invited to attend.

Saturday, December 16th—‘a Quiet Christmas’—in Bailieborough Church at 11.30am. (This will be a quiet Service, in preparation for the Christmas Celebrations that gives space for reflection, prayer and healing for those grieving or otherwise saddened at Christmas time).

Sunday, December 17th: ‘Carols for the Family’ at 10.30am in Shercock Church.

St. Vincent DePaul Shop: Annual Christmas Coffee Day:

We would like to invite all our customers to our Annual Christmas Coffee day on Friday, December 15th in appreciation for all your support through the year. Christmas Day Swim:

This will be will the 24th year of the Swim. The brave souls will be taking the plunge at 12.30pm on Christmas morning on the Cavan Road side of the Town Lake.  Be part of this event! All welcome.

 

Deepest Sympathy:

Deepest Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Vera Green (née Clarke) Dublin, USA and formerly Shancrock, Drumanespic Bailieborough Co. Cavan, who passed away peacefully at Connolly Hospital, Dublin on Thursday 30th November. Vera’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Anne’s Church, Bailieborough on Monday, December 4th with burial afterwards in St. Anne’s Cemetery.

St. Vincent DePaul:

St. Annes, St. Vincent De Paul, Bailieborough works in the Parish of Killann, incorporating Bailieborough, Shercock, Killann, Knockbride and Tierworker. Our conference visit families and people in need in this community. Even in our improving economy, the number of people requiring our support is remaining stubbornly high. This year we will spend approximately 50,000 and we expect to spend this again in 2018. The type of support we provide is wide ranging but most often, we help families with basics such as food, heating and education costs. We rely entirely on your support. Christmas Shoebox Appeal: Due to demand on supplies, we are starting our ‘Shoe Box’ Appeal early. Pick a shoe box and mark it, male or female. Fill the shoebox with essentials, such as socks, underwear, hats, scarves, gloves, sweets, chocolate and toiletries (NO aerosols, perfumes, aftershave, mouthwash or hand sanitizer). Bailieborough Cancer Comfort Ltd are holding their Annual Santa Christmas Carol Singing on Christmas Eve from 11.00am to 2.00pm on Main Street and also down at Tesco’s. We would appreciate your support.

 

Deepest Sympathy:

Deepest Sympathy is extended to wife Philomena, family Barry, Anthony and Nicole, sister Bernie, grandchildren and extended family, neighbours and friends on the death of Tony Hill, Curkish Lane, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan and formerly Lucan, Dublin who passed away suddenly on Monday, 4th December 2017, at Cavan General Hospital. Tony’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Anne’s Church, Bailieborough on Wednesday, December 6th with Funeral afterwards in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.

Bailieborough Library Baby and Toddler Group starts back every Wednesday at the earlier time of 10am. All babies, toddlers, parents and minders are welcome. No charge.

 

Christmas Trading Hours for the Local Shops:

Shops will be open till 8pm every Friday before Christmas and the last two Sundays 17th and 24th of December open from 12 till 6pm. Shop local this year for Christmas!

 

Drumkeery Group Water Scheme:

The following are the available dates for Baptisms in St. Anne’s Church–December 17th (Sunday, 12.30pm), January 13th (Saturday, 1.30pm) and January 27th (Sunday, 12.30pm).

 

Bailieborough Shamrocks:

Ladies AGM: The Ladies AGM will take place on Friday 5th January 2018 at 8.00pm, in the Clubrooms at St. Anne’s Park. .

Positions will need to be filled on the night so full attendance of parents and volunteers is needed. All welcome.

Everyday Irish – Tuesday evenings 3pm to 5pm

Beginner Conversational Irish Class for Adults who would like to learn the basics.

Bailieborough Library Parent, Baby and Toddler Group has proven to be a vital life line for all stay-at-home parents who may be new to the area and wish to get out of the house and make new friends. There is a huge range of toys for children to play with, while parents can enjoy a cup of tea and chat.

The group meets at the Library Arts space every Wednesday at 10.30am-12pm. Why not join their Facebook Group and keep up to date with news and events.

Christmas Lights Vehicle Parade in aid of the Vincey McGee Benefit Fund and Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust:

Sunday 17th December at 4.30pm in Cavan Town. All types of vehicles Lorries, Cars, Tractors, Vans etc. welcome. Entry Fee €20 per vehicle. Registration from 1pm at the Equestrian Centre.
