BAILIEBORO CANCER COMFORT FUND:

Annual Family Forest Walk will take place on Saturday next, 19th August 2017 at 10:30am. Registration from Fox’s, Main Street from 10:00am – €10. Refreshments afterwards back at Fox’s. All welcome.

 

Bailieborough Christmas Lights:

Following on from a successful festival in Bailieboro this summer with great community spirit, there will be a meeting to discuss the Christmas lights next Tuesday, August 22nd in the Business Centre, Shercock Road at 8.30pm. Anyone that has any ideas and is willing to help out to organise the Christmas lights and events for the town please come along.

 

Bailieborough Poetry Festival:

Bailieborough Poetry Festival details are online now.
A great line-up of poets from Ireland, the UK and the USA, including Noel Monahan, Patrick Chapman and Gerard Smyth, American poet Linda Opyr and Emily Wills from the UK.
The festival takes place from Thursday, 5th to Saturday 7th October 2017.

Blessing of the Graves:

The Annual Blessing of the Graves will take place in St. Anne’s Cemetery on Sunday, September 3rd at the earlier time of 12 noon (please note change of time). Now would be the ideal time to look after the grave or a plot of a loved one in preparation for Cemetery Sunday.

 

Bailieborough Tidy Towns:

The battle against weeds and litter continues every Tuesday. Meet at Market Sq at 7pm. All welcome.  We would appreciate if all Business and home owners in the town and surrounding area would paint their properties, sweep the paths and trim the verges.  Thanking you for playing your part in keeping Bailieborough tidy.

 

Heritage Week – Bailieborough Activities:

Saturday 19th August at 4.00pm in Bailieborough Library: “People, place and time” an exhibition of Benny Duffy’s (Nolagh), photographs and memorabilia. Benny Duffy took many photographs. This personal collection contains black and white images of family, friends and neighbours when many did not have cameras or the prudence to preserve and archive their photographs. These photographs should have a particular interest to people from the Bailieborough, Shercock and Kingscourt areas. Bailieborough Library will host the exhibition upstairs at The Market House. Admission Free, Refreshments Served. Exhibition will be on display for the duration of Heritage Week.

Saturday 26th August at 8.00pm sharp – Doors 7.30 – Bailieborough Business Centre: “A Wilde Victorian Evening” presented by Patrick Walsh and guest on the life, loves, wit and wisdom of Oscar Wilde. Admission Free, Refreshments Served, Victorian Dress Encouraged, Not suitable for young children.

 

Cavan Institute—Open Day:

With Leaving Cert results looming – some students and their parents/guardians are now unsure about what the next step should be. Let us help you. Call in to our Open Day on August 24 from 12 noon until 4pm. Applications still being accepted for courses starting this September.

 

Hardtimes Chorus:

Hardtimes Chorus are proud to announce that their new show ‘Thank You for the Music’ will take place on Friday, 10th November next in St Anne’s Church, Bailieborough. Proceeds will go towards the renovation of St Anne’s Church. It’s a brand new show not to be missed with song and music to suit everyone, so please spread the word. Thank You.

 

Bailieborough Heritage Society invites you to ‘People, Place and Time’, an exhibition of Benny Duffy’s (Nolagh) photographs and memorabilia, opening on Saturday, August 19th at 4pm at Library. Admission is free and all members of the community are invited. Refreshments will served!

 

Moybologue, Geophys in a Graveyard:  All of the grave marker inscriptions in Moybologue old cemetery have now been uploaded and are available to everyone at www.historicgraves.com.

Hosted by Moybologue Historical Society – Cumann Seanchais Mhaigh Bolg in Bailieborough Library on Saturday, August 26th from 4.00pm to 5.00pm.

Kevin Barton, Landscape and Geophysical Services, will present the results of a community remote sensing survey at Moybologue old graveyard as well as preliminary results from a survey of a ring-barrow. All welcome.

 

FREE CONCERT – MONDAY, 28 AUGUST AT 7.30PM IN ST. ANNE’S CHURCH, BAILIEBOROUGH:

All monies raised (donations at the door) will go the Autistic Unit, Bailieborough Community School.  Guests include:  Lambay Singers, Donabate, Castletown Accordion Orchestra, Mullagh and our very special guests the world famous ‘Akkordeon Landejugendorchester’ from Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany, who have performed in many European countries as well as the USA, Canada, Russia, China, Brazil, South Africa, Namibia, Cost Rica, New Zealand, Fiji and India.  They are currently touring Ireland and the UK and we are delighted to host them at this wonderful concert.  Your support would be much appreciated.

 

Congratulations:

Following on from Diarmuid Donnellan last week our own Tadhg Barry, representing East Cavan Gaels and Ballinamoney NS, played at half time in the Cork/Waterford game on Sunday last in Croke Park. What a great experience to play in front of over 70’000 people. Well done Tadhg and Diarmuid!

(M) Walk 2 hours (approx). Leaving Bailieborough Library at 7pm. Walk commences at the picnic area on Lough an Leagh at 7.15pm. All welcome.

 

“Spanish Coffee Mornings in Bailieborough”

Moybologue Blessing of the Graves: The Annual Blessing of the Graves will take place in Moybologue Cemeteries (Old and New) on Sunday next, 20th August 2017 after 10am Mass in St. Patrick’s, Tierworker.

Bailieborough Library Parent, Baby and Toddler Group has proven to be a vital life line for all stay-at-home parents who may be new to the area and wish to get out of the house and make new friends. There is a huge range of toys for children to play with, while parents can enjoy a cup of tea and chat.

The group meets at the Library Arts space every Wednesday at 10.30am-12pm. Why not join their Facebook Group and keep up to date with news and events.

Under 6/8/10; A few more games lined up during August for these groups before we get back to full action again in September.

Under 12; Preparations in full swing for the Monaghan U12 league final coming up.

Under 14; The first round of the Cavan U14 Championship is scheduled for next Monday 21st August.

Under 16; A home league game on Monday v Cootehill in Kingscourt at 7.

Minor; The minors began their campaign on Saturday last in the South Ulster league where played very well in beating Knockbridge.

All training at BCS pitch Wednesday 7pm.

Players will receive a text.
