May CLERKIN (née Traynor) Bailieborough, Cavan / Dun Laoghaire, Dublin. 15th December 2015

Clerkin (nee Traynor) May, late Druminespic, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan and Dun Laoghaire, Dublin, peacefully in the loving care of staff of Fairlawns Nursing Home, Bailieborough. Sadly missed by her daughter Elizabeth (California) son-in-law Gary and granddaughters brother-in-law Patsy Clarke, Leitrim, Bailieborough, nephews, niece, relatives and friends.

 

Rest in Peace

 

Reposing at Fairlawns Nursing Home tomorrow, Wednesday, from 7pm until removal at 7.45pm to arrive at St Anne’s Church, Bailieborough at 8pm. Funeral Mass Thursday at 10.30am with burial afterwards in St Anne’s Cemetery, Bailieborough.

Bailieborough Poetry Festival:

The members of Lit lab writers group wish to thank all who came along in such large numbers to the annual Bailieborough poetry festival.  A wonderful weekend of poetry, song  and warm conversation was enjoyed by all . Visiting poets remarked on the generous welcome they received  in Bailieborough and look forward to returning again next year.

 

Americian Civil War Exhibition:

An exhibition depicting aspects of the American Civil War will be on display at Bailieborough Library until Thursday October 29th and is open for all to view during Library opening hours. The war was such an all-encompassing event that the exhibition can only touch on aspects of the conflict. Topics covered include: the country before the war, growth of population, acquisition of territory, economic growth, causes of war, overview of battles, Matthew Brady (war photographer), Irish involvement including Cavan men, and the aftermath. All welcome.

 

First Communion and Confirmation Parents:

A meeting for parents/guardians of children receiving First Communion and Confirmation in 2016 from the National schools in Shercock and Bailieborough will take place on Thursday, October 29th at 7.30pm in St. Annes Church, Bailieborough. The principal speaker will be Ms Orla Walsh, the Deputy Principal in St. Vincent’s Secondary School, Dundalk. The parish Confirmation date is April 23rd, 2016, while First Communion dates have yet to be confirmed.

 

Bailieborough Cancer Comfort Ltd:

School of Music:

The Bailieborough School of Music are holding an Information Night and their Annual General Meeting, commencing at 8.30pm on Thursday 15th October, in the Bailie Hotel, Bailieborough. All welcome.

 

Bailieborough Cancer Comfort : Table Quiz

The Quiz will take place in Fox’s Bar, Bailieborough on Friday 16th October 2015 commencing at 8.45pm, sharp. €40 for a table of 4. Early Bird Round – 8:45pm sharp. Lots of prizes on the night!! Everybody welcome to come along and support a very worthy local cause.

 

Bailieborough Community Choir:

We are looking for new members. Practice take place every Monday evening at 8.30 in Trinity Hall, Virginia Road, Bailieborough. We would welcome all ages, all communities. Great night’s fun to be had and you might even get a cup of tea at the end!! We perform all types of music so it will be of interest to most.

 

Social Day Centre:

The next Get-Together of the Bailieborough Social Day Centre takes place on Wednesday, October 21st from 2.30 pm to 4.30pm in the Community Centre, Chapel Road. New members are always welcome.

 

Trocaire:

Trocaire wish to thank most sincerely the parishioners of Bailieborough, Killann and Shercock for your generous support to the Lenten campaign this year. The total amount raised in the parish was €8,779.

 

Pilates –

‘Hardtimes Chorus’:

Rehearsals for our new show ‘SEASONS OF LOVE’ are currently taking place. Practice continues next Tuesday and every Tuesday at 8pm in St Anne’s Church, Bailieborough. See you all there. New members are always welcome.

Annual Sponsored ‘Dog Walk’:

The annual sponsored ‘Dog Walk’ in aid of CSPCA will take place on Saturday 24th, October, starting at 12 o clock from Bailieboro Vetinary Clinic, Kells road. Free entry for all who attend the walk into a draw for two tickets to “The Night Joe Dolans Car Broke Down”. Tickets for this raffle are now available at Bailieboro vet clinic and sponsorship cards can be collected. Refreshments and face painting will be available on the day.  All welcome.

 

St. Vincent De Paul, Clothes Shop:

The St. Vincent de Paul Clothes Shop will be open each Saturday morning from 10.00 am to 1pm. The conference is grateful for all donations of good quality clothing, footwear, household and bed linen and we look forward to your continued support.

 

‘My Fair Lady’:

Bailieborough Community School will present their annual musical and this year it is to be ‘My Fair Lady’ from Wednesday, October 21st to Saturday, October 24th in the Community School. As demand for tickets for this event usually outstrip supply, people are advised to book their tickets at 087 461 8432 as soon as possible.

 

East Cavan Swim Club—Quiz Night:

The East Cavan Swim Club are holding a ‘Quiz Night’ on this Friday, October 16th in the Hotel Bailie, commencing at 8.00pm. Adult tables, €40, children’s table, €20. We look forward to your support.

 

Class of ’85 Reunion:

A reunion of the Leaving Cert class of 1985, including all those who were first years in Lourdesville or the Vocational school in Bailieboro in 1980, will be held on Saturday, 14th November in the Bailie Hotel. Those who started in Lourdesville or The ‘Tech’ in 1980 are invited to attend the reunion.
A Mass for deceased class members will be held in St. Anne’s Church at 7pm.

The Marie Keating Cancer Information and Awareness Mobile Unit will be visiting Bailieborough on Thursday, October 15th from 11am to 3.00pm. Parked outside the Library on the Market Square. October— Month of the Holy Rosary:

A Rosary will be said at the Grotto on the Virginia Road, for the month of October, commencing on Thursday, October 1st at 8.00pm.  No Rosary on Saturdays. Everyone welcome to join in prayer for personal intentions as well as the sick of the Parish.

 

Safe Pass:

Safe Pass at Bailieborough Business Centre with Cathal Bannon. Following the success of past classes in the Centre our next 1 day Safe Pass class is scheduled for October 22nd. This class runs all day from 8.00am till 5.00pm, costs €100.00 including lunch. All past participants have said they would choose Bailieborough Business Centre as their preferred venue. Garda vetted volunteers with identification are ready to assist and help the elderly in our community. If you have gardening jobs, hedge and grass cutting, tidying up or ant type of small repairs to get done then ‘Lend A Hand’, is at your doorstep. East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Hurling News 12th October 2015

 

Under 6/8/10; Indoor hurling continues every Thursday in Kingscourt Community Centre and Friday in Bailieborough Community School Sports Hall.

Under 12;

Congratulations to our U12s who have qualified for the Championship Final on Wednesday next at 8pm on the 3G at Breffni Park. Their opponents will be our good friends and rivals from Cootehill. All support for the lads very welcome.

After school hurling;

Cavan GAA and Ulster GAA are providing five weeks of indoor after school hurling in Bailieborough Community School Sports Hall each Thursday from 4-5pm for those in 4th, 5th and 6th class. The cost for the five weeks is just €5 and all existing players and those who would like to try hurling are especially welcome.

 

Under 16/18;

Both Championships are scheduled to start in the coming weeks. Training on Wednesday at 6.30 in St. Anne’s Park, Bailieborough GAA.

Congratulations to both Kingscourt Stars and Cootehill Celtic on both of their respective senior championship wins in football and hurling.

Anne Mc Intyre (nee Daly) Lisnalee, Bailieborough, Co.Cavan and formerly Maudabawn and Cavan Rd., Cootehill, Co. Cavan. Died 15th Sept.2015.

Peacefully at the Mater Private Hospital, Dublin. Surrounded by her loving family. Deeply missed by her sorrowing husband Pat, sons Padraic and Liam, daughters-in-law Lisa and Claire, grandchildern Conor, Rory and Emer, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Robert Johnston, Tullylurkin, Beglieve, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan, who died suddenly on Tuesday, 15th September 2015. Deeply regretted by his brother John Johnston (Bailieborough), sister Angela Middleton (Canningstown), nephews and nieces.

Reposing at the residence of her son Joe O’Reilly T.D. and his wife Mary , The Willows, Chapel Road, Bailieborough. Formerly of Tievenanass, Mountain Lodge, Cootehill. Pre-deceased by her husband Francis, and son Alexis. Deeply regretted by her loving family, son Joe, daughters Bea Dunne, Ballinagh and Caroline, Kilnavara, Cavan Town, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, relatives and a large circle of friends.

Removal at 1pm on Thursday to McMahons Funeral Home, Cavan. Reposing from 2.30pm to 6.15pm. Remains will be removed to the Cathedral of St Patricks & Phelim, arriving at 7pm. Funeral mass on Friday morning at 11am followed by prayers in St Patricks Church, Carrickallen, Mountain Lodge. Burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.
