‘Operation Transformation’ 2020:
We would love to see you on any of the three Thursday evenings that are left. You will be more than welcome. Nearly 300 people participated in week five and nearly another €300 raised for the Bailieborough Cancer Fund.

Peter was predeceased by his wife Bridie and his infant daughter Rosemary.
Peter’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Anne’s Church on Thursday, February 6th with burial afterwards in St. Anne’s Cemetery.

Larry was predeceased by his son Leonard.

Bailieborough Parenting Support Programme 2020: The Bailieborough Parenting Support Programme will take place from Thursday, February 13th to Thursday, March 19th (once a week) in Bailieborough Courthouse, Main Street, Bailieborough. Bailieborough Social Day Group: The Group will resume today, Wednesday, February 12th following the Christmas break in the Community Centre, Chapel Road from 2.30pm to 4.30pm for more activities, etc… New members are always most welcome to join the group. All ‘Christmas Day Swim’ cards to be returned on this day, if not already done so.
Women’s World Day of Prayer: Our Parish is excited to be hosting the Women’s World Day of Prayer in St. Anne’s on Friday, March 6th at 8.00pm. This event will be an Ecumenical gathering. A meeting to plan the event will be held in the Parish Centre on Thursday, February 13th at 7.30pm. Assistance is needed to organise the Liturgy and the refreshments afterwards in the Parish Centre.

‘Operation Transformation’ 2020:
We would love to see you any Thursday evenings you are available. You will be more than welcome. Although numbers were down in week four there were still plenty of people in St. Anne’s Park. Donations to the Bailieborough Cancer Fund also increased.
Everyone must sign in each week so we can keep a record of numbers per week. This is for Ireland Lights Up.
Donation buckets for Bailieborough Cancer Comfort will be at the sign in desk and are completely Voluntary.
We have fitness and nutrition experts there in the form of Tony Gregory, Aodhagan Fox and David McCabe. Any queries I’m sure they would be more than happy to help.
And finally, you don’t have to be following the OT Food plan to join the walks. This is about getting out and moving. For some it’s for weight loss, fitness, mental health and even some company on these long evenings.

Bailieborough Cancer Comfort, wish to thank all who supported the ‘Singing Santa’s’ at Christmas time. A total of €3,800 was raised!! Thank you. Thank you also to Geraldine Fay for running a ‘Coffee Morning’ at which a total of €1,085 was raised. Thank you.
Documentary: Due to TV rescheduling the documentary will now be shown on Sunday night next. In June 2019, a film crew from the BBC in Belfast visited Bailieborough and Ballyjamesduff. Since then a half-hour documentary entitled ‘HAME’ was made focusing on both towns. It will be broadcast on BBC 2 NI on Sunday night next, February 9th at 10pm.

Ordination: We remember in our prayers, one of our seminarians, Thomas Small, who spent a year working in our Parish in 2018, who will be ordained a deacon in St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth on Sunday next, February 9th. This is the final stage of his preparation prior to ordination to the Priesthood, at a date to be arranged.

Poetry Launch: Bailieborough’s local author Fidel Hogan Walsh is launching her own book of poetry. Entitled ‘Living with Love’…… the book will be launched on Saturday evening next, 8th February at 7pm in the Bailieborough Court House. This is the first collection from a new voice in Irish poetry. This book features a lively selection of poems reflecting different sides of love: family, jealousy, sexuality, death and madness. Think of them as a collection of emotions, all used in the name of love.
Having started her writing career by sharing her poetry through social media, Fidel understands that poetry is not meant to be a pursuit for a select few. Instead, she uses her pen to discuss topics and themes not normally discussed by other poets. Her poems are suitable for all, so if you have been put off by the idea of reading poetry in the past, why not see if you find something fun, shocking and relatable somewhere within these pages? All are welcome.

East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Hurling News 3rd February 2020
Under 7;
Training is now up and running indoors on Fridays for these lads. Lots of new starters over the past few months and more are very welcome. Most got registered on Friday last, the rest will be done this week. You need to be registered to get your free hurleys!!
Fridays Under 7s.
Under 9;
These lads continue to do great work every week with a major improvement now that they are completely separate from the younger group. Registration finishes this Friday with games to follow.
Fridays Under 9s.
Under 11;
Training resumes Monday week 10th tbc in Killenkere hall with registration at the same time.
Under 13;
Looking forward to this group getting going as they will be bolstered by a significant group moving up from last years U11 squad. The Train league will begin in April.
Under 15;
This group will start training fairly soon. Train U15 Train league will be the main target this year for a very talented group.
Under 17;
Again a good few lads moving into this grade this year before the big move to Senior in the years ahead.
Senior;
The lads have started the year with some wallball sessions in Kingscourt and will continue until February when they move outside. Monaghan league, Cavan league and Championship as well as new cross county Cuchulainn league in the summer should, finally, give our lads a full meaningful season of hurling. It’s from these competitions that we can develop and grow and hopefully win some silverware.
Cavan;
Cavan had a good 0-17 to 0-12 win over Fermanagh in the NHL on Sunday last in Kingspan Breffni. Jack Barry started in midfield with Derek, Adam and Cian in the squad. Well done lads.

Friday; Under 7 6-7pm. Under 9 7-8pm both in the Bailieborough Community School Sports Hall. €3 each and bring your bottle of water.

The event will commence on Tuesday next, February 4th 2020 in the Courthouse, Lr. Main St, from 7.00pm to 8.30pm. The course will run for 6 weeks—come along when you can! All welcome, free of charge, tea/coffee and biscuits provided. The course runs once a week for six weeks. Come, sit and listen!!

Cavan who passed away peacefully in London, England on Thursday, 9th January 2020 with her family by her bedside. Mary Teresa’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Anne’s Church, Bailieborough, on Friday, January 24th with burial afterwards in St. Anne’s Cemetery.

Anna will be sadly missed by her sister, brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and all those who had the great pleasure of knowing her. Anna was predeceased by her husband Peter and together they had ran the ‘Beaver Dam’ Pub on Main Street, Bailieborough for many years, after they had returned home from Canada. Anna’s Funeral Mass took place in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kingscourt on Wednesday, January 15th with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Lakelands Taekwondo and Self Defence: Due to the large numbers that have shown up for training, it has been decided to run three classes in future on Monday evenings. Children born in 2013 and 2014 will train from 6pm to 7pm, children born in 2011 or 2012 will train from 7pm to 8pm and children born in or before 2010 will be training from 8pm to 9pm. East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Hurling News 27th, January 2020.
Welcome to 2020 to all our hurlers and families! What another big year to come!
Under 7;
Training is now up and running indoors on Fridays for these lads. Lots of new starters over the past months and more are very welcome. Registration this coming Friday at training.
Fridays Under 7s.
Under 9;
These lads continue to do great work every week with a major improvement now that they are completely separate from the younger group. Registration this Friday with games to come quick and fast after that.
Fridays Under 9s.
Under 11;
Training resumes in the coming weeks tbc with registration at the same time.
Under 13;
Looking forward to this group getting going as they will be bolstered by a significant group moving up from last years U11 squad. The Tain league will begin in April.
Under 15;
This group will start training fairly soon. Tain U15 Tain league will be the main target this year for a very talented group.
Under 17;
Again a good few lads moving into this grade this year before the big move to Senior in the years ahead.
Senior;
The lads have started the year with some wallball sessions in Kingscourt and will continue until February when they move outside. Monaghan league, Cavan league and Championship as well as new cross county Cuchulainn league in the summer should, finally, give our lads a full meaningful season of hurling. It’s from these competitions that we can develop and grow and hopefully win some silverware.

Congratulations to Jack Barry and Cian McEntee who have been retained onto the Cavan Senior hurling panel for 2020 and they have been joined by Adam Baldwin and Derek Argue which will be of great benefit to both club and county. Well done lads.
