/in News /by PetraBailieborough Midsummer Festival and Town Events: Bailieborough MidSummer Festival is back. We’re so excited to announce we are back for the first time since 2019 on Sunday, July 24th.
CALLING ALL CREATIVES : Calling all crafters, food vendors, clubs and local groups for the Bailieborough Midsummer Festival 2022.
We are now accepting applications for stalls on Main St. on Sunday, July 24th from 12-6pm. For more details/application forms please email,

We need your help. We are planning to have a Festival on Sunday the 24th of July. In order for this to go ahead we need more volunteers to join our committee.

Summer Songs of Praise: On Sunday 26th June there will a ‘Songs of Praise’ Service in Bailieborough Church at 3pm. We will be singing some favourite hymns, as chosen by the people. The whole community is invited and would be welcome at this Special Service. There will be no other services in the Group of Parishes on 26th.
Deepest Sympathy: Deepest Sympathy is extended to wife Christine, daughters Mary (son in law Tommy), Carol (partner Mick), son Tony (daughter in law Mags), brother Christie, sister Kay, granchildren Denise, Conor, Leah, Emily, Moya and Lilly, great-grandchild Wynter, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews and extended family, neighbours, friends and military friends, on the death of Sean Gregory, 10 Drumbannon, Bailieborough, Co Cavan, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at home, on Saturday, 4th June 2022. Sean was Pre Deceased by his son Sean (Junior).
Sean’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Annes Church on Tuesday, June 7th and afterwards, his remains were laid to rest in St. Annes Cemetery.
Bailieborough Hen’s Shed: Bailieborough Hen’s Shed, a Womens’ group, meets upstairs in Bailieborough Library every Thursday from 10am to 12pm. All welcome.
Bailieborough Walking Group: Wednesday, June 15th – Deerpark Forest, Virginia. (M) 1 hour 30 min. (approx). Leaving Bailieborough Library at 6.50pm. Walk commences at Virginia Showgrounds at 7.15pm.
Wednesday, June 22nd – Castle Lake, Bailieborough.
(E) Walk 1 hr (M) 1.5hrs Walk commences at the Castle Lake car park at 7.15pm.

Bailieborough Tidy Towns: Bailieborough Tidy Towns have put up 42 Hanging baskets on Main St. Help would be appreciated with watering them. Anyone with a towbar on any vehicle would be of great assistance. Volunteer for once or twice a month during the Summer would be of tremendous help. Please contact Bernie Flynn.

Regretted Death: Deepest Sympathy is extended to husband Michéal, loving children; Ronan, Paul and Orlaith, granddaughter Emilia, siblings; Carol, Gerard, Monica and Malachy, friends and extended family in particular Sharon, Rhys, Lily and Theo, relatives, neigbhours and friends on the death of Margaret Lennon (née Denning), Northlands, Shercock, Cavan and formerly of Cavan Road, Bailieborough, who passed away peacefully at her home, after a long illness, surrounded by her family on Friday, June 3rd, 2022. Margaret was predeceased by her parents Vincent and Mary Denning.
Margaret’s Funeral Mass took place on Monday, 6th of June, in St. Anne’s Church, Bailieborough and afterwards, her remains were laid to rest in Kingscourt Cemetery.

Bailieboro Celtic A.F.C.: The Club’s Annual General Meeting takes place in the Club Rooms at the Vale Grounds on this Thursday 16th June at 8:30 pm.

Bailieborough Craft Club: Meetings take place every Friday, upstairs in the Library from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Looking forward to seeing everyone and new members most welcome.
East Cavan Swim Club: Well done to Aoibheann Taaffe on adding another Division 2 time and to Roisin Pierce achieving her first. Strong swims and Personal Bests for the three girls in Craigavon on Sunday last.
We now have our full list of qualified swimmers for the National Championships. Massive achievement for all ten swimmers this year.

Bailieborough School of Music: Information/Enrolment Evening: Takes place on this Thursday evening June 16th from 7.00pm to 8.00pm in the Community Centre, Chapel Road—opposite the Swimming Pool. This is a great opportunity for your child or grandchild to learn to play a musical instrument in our Music School—which has been teaching the children of Bailieborough and beyond for over 30 years. Recorder/Guitar classes for age 7 and upwards. Flute/Clarinet/ Saxaphone/Trumpet for age 9 and upwards. All lessons subject to availability. Registration is 20 per child/30 per family.Rhythmic Dance

Maudabawn Macra 70th Anniversary weekend– Friday 24th -Sunday 26th June. Weekend of events and entertainment in Gallonray House to celebrate 70 years since the foundation of the club. East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Hurling News 13th June 2022:Seniors; The Seniors made it two from two in the Cuchulainn League on Wednesday last with a good win v Monaghan Harps. A bye this week then we host St.Malachys from Armagh in round three. Training continues on Monday at 8pm in Bailieborough. Under 13/15/17; The under 13s have their divisional semi final and hopefully final in the Tain League this coming Saturday while the 15s wait for the next competition.The 13s are away to Castleblayney on Monday for a challenge. The Under 17s have joined with North Meath for the Tain League which will begin next Monday. Under 11; The lads had a very positive morning in Monaghan when they travelled to Truagh Gaels for the U11 league. Next up is a trip to Wolfe Tones on Wednesday next in the Meath league 7pm. Under 7/9; First trip for our U7s as they will travel with the U9s to Cloghan on Wednesday next for GoGames blitz at 7pm.

Deepest Sympathy: Deepest Sympathy is extended to husband John, loving children Michael (Aoife), Laura (Nicholas), Joe (Emma), Julie-Ann (Dwayne), Katie (Leon), Margaret (Abbey), Dawn (Connor), brother Matt Argue, grandchildren, sister-in-law Shirley, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends on the death of Kathleen Murray (nee Argue) Tandragee, Kells Road, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan, who passed away on Wednesday, 1st June 2022, peacefully at her residence, following a short illness.
Kathleen’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Patrick’s Church, Tierworker on Friday morning, June 3rd followed by Cremation afterwards in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.

Killan Community Games: Killan community games (incorporating Bailieborough and Shercock) will be entering the Girls soccer competitions at U12 and U15 age groups. We’ll be holding open training sessions over the next few weeks, where any interested girls from the Bailieborough and Shercock area are welcome to come along, join in and have some fun. Stroll—Athon: West Knockbride Parents Association will hold a ‘Stroll-athon’ at Knockbride GFC pitch from 3.00pm – 4.30pm on Sunday next, 12th June 2022. Please join us to celebrate the end of a normal school year and to raise funds for our school. A raffle will be held on the day for summer themed prizes. Entry €20 per family or €5 per person.

Brigid’s Funeral Mass took place in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Coole, on Friday, 3rd June, with burial afterwards in Mayne Cemetery, Coole.

Tractor Run: Sillan Vintage Club will hold a tractor run on Saturday next, 11th June 2022. Vintage and classic cars and bikes are also welcome and will travel a separate route. The run will commence at Corglass Church, Bailieborough, A82 NH74 at 4pm with registration from 2.30pm. Entry fee €20 with proceeds to fund a AED Defibrillator for Corglass Church and surrounding areas. Refreshments afterwards in the church hall. All support greatly appreciated. A hardworking but good performance in good conditions ideal for hurling in Mullagh on Wednesday last. Next up is a trip to Monaghan town to take on the local Harps club in round two. Training continues on Monday at 8 in Bailieborough. Under 13/15; The under 13s await their divisional semi final in the Tain League while the 15s wait for the next competition.Training for both on Monday at 7.30 in Bailieborough. Under 11; Training on Monday at 7 in Bailieborough GAA astro pitch with the next round of the Monaghan Under 11 league with a trip to North Monaghan on Sunday next to play Truagh Gaels. Under 7/9; The U9s will return to outdoor training on Monday next on the astro in Bailieborough and the next blitz is scheduled for the 15th . The U7s will be hopefully ready for a blitz or two before they break for the summer.
