East Cavan Gaels GAA Club –Hurling News 20th November 2023:

U11/13s will train at Kingspan Breffni on Tuesday 6.30-7.30.
Under 7 and Under 9s are now in the new after school programme and/or Killinkere indoors.
Inter county CCC proposal; We are both disappointed and concerned at proposals from National GAA in conjunction with local units to consider the removal of County sides from NHL from 2025.
If people understood the utter madness it is at times, to be hurling they would have a better understanding as to why it fails.
It is set up to fail, the Association sets it up to fail at both national and local level. It’s in the way! Something to be swept aside at the first opportunity. Children are not given the opportunity to even play the game as it “gets in the way”!
We keep going! We love the game thankfully and we love those who play it with us as they are made of the stuff you want from leaders, heart, strength of character, resilience in the face of incredible challenges. These players are the best of us. If we’re going into the trenches these are the people we look for. The same in Louth, Leitrim, Longford, Fermanagh, etc.
The structure needs to change. Children love hurling when given the opportunity to play but unfortunately the Association would rather they never get that opportunity.
The absurdity of that statement alone should force real and meaningful change!
After school hurling; After school hurling continues in Mullagh on Thursdays and Shercock on Fridays. Club U7/9/12 training indoors on Saturdays in Killinkere.
