Bailieborough News. January 1st 2018. Matthew J. Cullen.
/in News /by Lee McDonnellChristmas in Bailieborough:
Attendance at all the religious services in the area were up on previous years with lots of people and their families returning home from abroad for the festive occasion. The Christmas spirit was in evidence—particularly on Christmas Eve—with the Annual Christmas Carol singing by the Bailieborough Cancer Fund.
Footfall in the local shops was up and in the run up to Christmas, trying to get parking on Main St., was a nightmare at times but shoppers made good use of the car parks in the town.
The new Christmas Lights also added a lot of festive cheer and feel to the town and all involved with the project deserve thanks for all their hard work and commitment.
A big well done to everyone who took part in the Christmas Swim in Bailieborough. It was cold and wet but it didn’t hold the locals back from the traditional Christmas Day swim which was being held for the 24th time with the proceeds going to Bailieborough Senior Citizens.
The Athletic Club’s Annual St. Stephen’s Day run was well supported with participants eager to clear the cobwebs after Christmas Day.

Happy New Year to all involved in local hurling. We hope to have lots of hurling activity lined up for a busy 2018. Thanks to all for all their help so far and we look forward to dusting off the cobwebs later in January. Below are a few pictures from a very busy 2017. Lets hope 2018 in even better.
Another years hurling, our 9th, done. Lots of new hurlers joining with us especially at the younger ages. Our U12s won the Monaghan Div 2 league. Our U14s reached National Feile semi-final.
