/in News /by PetraAnnual Niamh Crosby Memorial Run: The Niamh Crosby Easter Sunday Bike Run is back for 2025. The run will take place on Easter Sunday, April 20th with regristration taking place from 10am at Enagh House—on the Virginia to Bailieborough Road. The Run will commence at 12 noon and it is sure to be an interesting route! All donations—big or small—will go to the Niamh Crosby Comfort Room in St. Jame’s Hospital. All welcome.
Holy Week Schedule in St. Anne’s: Holy Thursday: Mass of the Last Supper at 7.15pm , followed by Adoration at the Altar of Repose until 10pm.
Good Friday: Celebration of the Lord’s Passion at 3.00pm.
Holy Saturday: Easter Vigil at 9.30pm.
Easter Sunday: Mass of the Resurrection at 10.15am.
Killann Choral Society Choir: Practise for the Choir takes place in St. Annes Chapel, at 7.30pm on Monday evenings. New members are very welcome to join.
St. Anne’s N.S. Parents Association: are grateful to the children, parents/guardians of St. Anne’s N.S. and the wider Bailieborough community for supporting their recent Bake Sale and raffle. It was a great morning and was hugely successful.
Lough Derg Holy Year Pilgrimage: One day retreat organised by Saint Vincent DePaul will take place on Sunday, May 4th. Bus leaving Bailieborough Community Centre at 7.30am. Bailieborough Tidy Towns: Annual Spring Clean Day, April 12th 2025: Meet at the Library at 10.30am on Saturday, April 12th . Wear a high vis jacket and bring a litter picker—if you have one! This is your opportunity to clean up your road and to have a chat with your neigbhours at the same time. All welcome.
New Al-Anon Meeting in Bailieborough: Meetings take place every Thursday evening at 7.30pm, in the Beckscourt Community Centre, (A82 D928). For details, please contact: 087 132 1462. All welcome. AL-ANON is a mutual support programme for people whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking.
Quiz Night: Bailieborough Shamrocks LFGA are hosting a ‘Quiz Night’ in Nixy’s, The Square Bar on Saturday, 12th April at 8pm.
There are some fantastic raffle prizes on the night in addition to some one-off collector items to be auctioned.
All funds raised at the quiz will go towards supporting our senior ladies team for the 2025 season and help with Tessa Conway’s Quid Game fundraising efforts.

Relaghbeg Fundraising Committee:The AED Defibrillator located outside Smyths Bar, Relaghbeg has been fully serviced and checked. Hopefully we will not need it but it is there if ever required. Keeping this local life saving equipment wouldn’t be possible without your continued support .

East Cavan Gaels: East Cavan Gaels Hurling Club News 7th April 2025
Senior; The lads had a good workout v Erne Gaels in bright sunshine on the 3G on Sunday last. Next should be the refixture v Omagh.
The county lads have final preparation for the Championship Lory Meagher Cup as they head to Birmingham to take on Warwicksure on Sunday next.
U8/10/12/14/16/18; A great win for the county U17 squad in the Celtic Challenge v Monaghan on Saturday last with Shane Kelly, Aaron Rudden and Ben O’Flaherty to the fore, Liam and Kelan return next week. Well done lads.
The club U16s got their season up and running in Inniskeen on Monday last. The U12s got going too with a trip to Blayney and they also go again this week with a short trip to Carrick.
After school; Last sessions of the term this week in Bailieborough and Shercock. We hope to move outside for some joint sessions after the Easter break.

/in News /by PetraConfirmation: Congratulations to the 79 young people from the Parish who received the Sacrament of Confirmation in St. Anne’s Chapel on Saturday morning last. Bishop Martin Hayes administered the Sacrament. It was an important and significant day for the young people and their families. Thanks to their teachers and to the school communities in St. Annes, St. Felims and St. Patricks for their work and support, over the past few months. Thanks also to Andrea Connolly, (the Parish Pastoral Assistant) for co-ordinating the arrangements and for the support she provideds to the teachers, parents and the Parish.
Congratulations and Well Done: Congratulations and well done to the players and management teams of the Bailieborough Community School’s Senior and Junior Ladies football sides who have over the past few weeks won All Ireland titles at both grades. A terrific achievement and congratulations to all.

Regretted Death: The death has occurred of
Patrick McCabe, Cornagrillagh, Glenties, Co. Donegal and formerly of Carnalynch, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan. Patrick passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, March 28th 2025.
Patrick was the former Principal of St. Anne’s NS Maio, Tierworker Co. Meath. Patrick was predeceased by his parents John and Nan, his infant
brother Anthony and his infant sister Brigid.
He will be forever loved and sadly missed by his devoted wife Winnie (née Mimnagh), his children Deirdre, Grace, John, Mairéad and Úna, son-in-law Martin, daughter-in-law Regan and grandson Páidí, his sisters Rita and Winnie, nieces, nephews,grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives and friends.
Patrick’s Requiem Mass took place in the Holy Family Church, Edeninfagh, on Wednesday, April 2nd 2025 and afterwards, Patrick’s remains were laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.

Birdwatch, Ireland: Cavan Branch: Celebrate bird song and the wildlife of the Town Lake by Joining us for a leisurely nature walk around the Lake on Sunday morning next, April 6th. Learn about the migratory song birds that come here each year to breed and hopefully hear them in song on the day! Please meet at the Chapel Road carpark at 8.30am. All welcome to this event and it will last for one hour approximately.

Regretted Death: The death has occured of Katarzyna (Kasia) Skrzynska, Hawthorne, Bailieborough, Co Cavan and formerly of Poland,who passed away on Friday, 28th March 2025, peacefully at Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by her family and friends.
Deeply regretted by her loving daughter Asia, sons Thomas and Patrick, her good friends Izabella and Max, her aunt and relatives.
Kasia’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Annes Church, Bailieborough on Tuesday, April 1st followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.

Senior; Omagh game was postponed to a later date. Next weekend at home to Belnaleck.
U20 lads played well in defeat to Monaghan in the Championship in Cloghan on Sunday last. They will now return to club action.
U8/10/12/14/16/18; U12/14/16 training Thursday on the astro.
After school; Just the one session in Mullagh this Friday. Changes to come with holidays etc. more info next week.

/in News /by PetraConfirmation: Good luck to all the people from the Parish receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation in St. Anne’s Chapel on Saturday next, March 29th. Bishop Martin Hayes will administer the Sacrament.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade: St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2025 was deemed to be a great success by the organisers. The weather played ball and although it was overcast and cold the big crowd that attended the Parade were suitability entertained. A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated and participated in the parade. it’s always great to see such a strong community spirit.

Regretted Death: The death has occurred of Thomas (Tommy) Leddy, Crocknahattina, Bailieborough on Saturday, March 15th , 2025 peacefully with his family by his side, in the wonderful care of the staff at College View Nursing Home.
Tommy will be sadly missed by his wife Teresa, sons Owen (Mary), Martin, Kieran (Avril), Felim, daughters, Ann, Marion (Fodil). Grandchildren, Danielle, Rebecca, Rory, Grace, Dáire, Gary, Michael, Yasmine, Adel, Amel, Zainab and Younes, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Knockbride Variety Show: Knockbride Variety Show, will take place on Wednesday, March 26th , Thursday 27th , Friday 28th and Saturday 29th starting 8.30pm in Tunnyduff Hall. Tickets on sale at the moment and the charities that will benefit are Cavan Branch Alzheimer Society and MS Cavan Branch. An unforgetable night of music, comedy, song and dance.
Classical Music Club: Is Classical Music your favourite musical genrefor a little peace and reflection? Would you like to meet likeminded people in classical surroundings to listen and explore the genius, charm and glory of Bach, Verdi, Mozart and others? Parish Green Group: Last week 15 trees were planted in the Community Centre grounds by the Killann Parish Green Group with the assistance of the Community Employment Scheme team. Last year the Parish Green Group applied for a grant under the Co Council Community Climate Action Fund and we were approved for the amount of €7,190.03. The grant is for the installation of pollinator friendly shrubs and trees and a rainwater harvesting system. We encourage you to come and help out at our next planting day next Thursday, March 27th when a native hedge will be planted at the Cemetery and we will plant up some of the walls in Bailieborough Town. Anyone with an interest in nature is welcome to join the Green Group and we will be meeting at St. Anne’s Cemetery at 9.30am on Thursday morning.

Moylett, Grousehall, Bailieborough, Cavan on Wednesday, March 19th peacefully at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home, Virginia in her 91st year. Rose was predeceased by her husband Hugh and son Gerard (recently deceased).
Deeply regretted by her loving daughters Geraldine and Sue, son Sean, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

East Cavan Gaels: East Cavan Gaels Hurling Club News 24th March 2025
Senior; Lads kicked off the season with a win away to Knocks Grattans from Fermanagh in the Ulster Spring League. Next week is a trip to Omagh to play St. Endas.
U20 lads in final preparations for the Championship which starts with a game v Monaghan.
U8/10/12/14/16/18; U12/14/16 training Thursday on the astro. Tain U16 begins next Monday with a game v Inniskeen at 7pm.
