Bailieborough Poetry Festival Programme of Events 2016:
Thursday, October 6th- Bailieborough Library, 7pm,
Official opening of Poetry Festival with the launch of artist Elena Duff’s exhibition in the Library arts space. This will also feature the launch of pop-up gallery, ‘Gallery Thing’ in the town, presenting a public display of art works from invited artists. The exhibition will be launched by Ollie Burns, a founder of the CO Club in Oldcastle.
There will be a poetry reading by LitLab writers at the launch which will feature new writing based on the art work of Elena Duff. Sips and nibbles provided.
Friday, October 7th – Murtagh’s Lounge:
7.30pm-INTERVIEW and POETRY READING
Poet, Monica Corish in an interview with Irene O’Dea, featuring amongst other things, a discussion on her recent publication A Dying Language which was published by the Hospice Foundation.
8.00pm to 8.30pm: Open mic hosted by Andy Jones.
9.30pm: Music by Luna.
Saturday, October 8th -various venues:
Bailie Hotel; 10am-1pm. Poetry workshop with Vona Groarke (places limited, please book in advance).
Bailieborough Library; 2.30-3.30pm. Announcement of the Bailieborough Poetry Prizewinners (sponsored by the Bailie Hotel). Judges Michael Farry and Mairead Donnellan.
Bailie Hotel; 4-6pm. ‘Flash Fiction’ workshop by John Mulligan (limited to 12 places, advance booking essential).
Murtagh’s Lounge; 7.30pm: GALLERY GOES presents poets
Peter Fallon, Tom French and Vona Groarke.
8.30pm; Music by Sam Geraghty.
9pm; Poetry reading by selected LitLab poets to close festival.
