Bailieborough News. March 20th 2023 . Matthew J. Cullen.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade: On Friday afternoon last, St. Patrick’s Day, the first St. Patrick’s Day Parade since 2018 took place in the town. From early morning the volunteers got everything in place, so that the event would run as planned. The weather was overcast and drizzly before the Parade started but the rain held off for the Parade itself. Local musician and singer, Shane McCluskey provided musical entertainment before the Parade started and kept the large crowd entertained. The Parade started on time and Master of Ceremonies for the day, Mr. Paddy Sheanon, kept the banter going to the amusement of the participants and the large crowd present. On the viewing stand were local politicians, dignitaries and members of the clergy. Many local businnesses took part, along with the vintage cars, tractors and motorcycles but the highlight of the Parade, was the amount of children taking part, with their clubs and organisations.

The organising committee would like to say, a huge ‘Thank You’ to everyone that volunteered, donated, participated and spectated at the Parade – it’s always great to see such a strong community spirit..

Congratulations to this years winners:

The Bishop has granted permission for the resumption of Baptisms, with a limited attendance confined to parents and godparents.

Mass can be heard on the radio at 107.8FM in the Bailieborough area and 92FM in Shercock.

Public Masses are suspended until at least  April 26th, when it is hoped that some of the current restrictions may be lifted.  All Masses and Parish Funerals can be viewed on the Parish webcam or can be heard by tuning in the radio to 107.8 F.M.
