Bailieborough Walking Group:

Bailieborough Walking Group commence their 2016 walking season by hosting four walks during this year’s Cavan Walking Festival. On Saturday April 30th, two walks commence at 11am at Bailieborough Business Centre, Shercock Rd.  A 3km, 1 hour,

easy Nature Trail, ideal for families with children. The second walk is a 8km, 1.5 hour, moderate Forest Walk.

On Tuesday May 3rd an 8km moderate walk commences at 7.15pm at Cabra School entrance to Dun a Rí, Shercock Rd., Kingscourt.

On Thursday May 5th a 5km, 1.5 hour moderate walk commences at 7.15pm at the picnic area, Lough an Leagh. All welcome.

 

Bailieborough Cancer Comfort LTD:

The recent ‘Bucket Collection’ held at Tesco, Bailieborough raised €1,405. Sincere ‘Thank You’ for your continued support.

 

Relaghbeg Fundraising Committee – May Bank Holiday – Fun Run For Bailieborough Cancer Fund

   Sun May 1st – 6Km- ish Fun Run / Walk/ Jog. Everybody welcome. Walk commences at 1pm from the Market Square Bailieboro (There is also a Fun Run departing Mullagh at the same time) Finish line is Smyth’s Bar, Relaghbeg where refreshments will be served. Free return transport to your starting point will be provided. Registration from 12noon. Registration fee Adults €10 / Under 18’s €5 / Under 12’s free.  All proceeds in aid of the Bailieborough Cancer Fund. Your support is greatly appreciated.

 

Bailieborough Gardening Group:  Day Trip:

Join us for a trip to Wicklow on Sunday, May 8th visiting Huntingbrook Gardens and the beautiful Mount Usher. Depart Tesco car park at 8.30am. €25 members, €30 non-members. Tea, coffee and cakes on arrival. All welcome. Enquiries to Eilish (086) 8273470.

 

CONFIRMATION:

On Saturday last, Bishop Leo O’Reilly administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to 74 children from the Parish in St. Annes Chapel. Although cold, the weather held good for the children’s big day. Thank you to their teachers especially Ms. Fallon, Ms Traynor and Ms Keegan for having the children so well prepared, the St. Anne’s School Choir, under the direction of Ms McCabe, Ms O’Sullivan and Michael Gaskin, and the principals and staff of the schools in the local are who are always so co-operative and helpful. Thanks also to the St. Annes Sacristan, May Cassidy, caretaker Sadie Clarke, St. Felim’s secretary, Marie Brady and also the members of the CE Scheme who prepared the Church for the event.

 

 

Bailieboro Celtic AFC:

We are delighted to be hosting an FAI Summer Soccer Schools Camp again this year for boys and girls aged between 6 and 14 years of age. This year’s camp runs from Monday 4th July till Friday 8th July between 10.30 am and 3.00 pm. Prices remain the same as last year at €65 per child with family discounts and each child receives a full kit (jersey, shorts and socks) backpack and ball. Self Defence and Kick Boxing Classes:

 Self-defence martial arts classes’ takes place in Bailieborough Leisure Centre on Wednesday nights at 8pm. It is a practical self-defence class in which you do not need to be flexible or fit in order to train therefore it is for everyone. It is a fun way to learn self-defence and get fit by doing so.
First class is free to all beginners and it has an age limit of over 14 year olds.

Bailieborough Agricultural Show:

The Show committee are running a bus to the forthcoming Balmoral Show on Thursday, May 12th. The bus will be leaving the Tesco carpark at 7.30am, sharp and will be in Kingscourt at 8.00am. Bookings must be made by Tuesday, May 10th and can be made with either Dougie Smyth (087 2070 849) or Robert McCullagh (086 061 1731).

 

 

Dhuish Group Water Scheme:

Bi-annual maintenance of the Dhuish Group Water Scheme will continue until Friday 6th of May. There may be interruptions to the water supply during this time for which we apologise.

 

Bailieborough Group of Parishes:

Bailieborough School of Music

present ‘An Evening of Music’ in aid of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin in Bailieborough Community School on Saturday May 14th at 8pm. Featuring Bailieborough Senior and Junior Youth Bands, Teacher’s Collective featuring Liam McCabe, special appearance of ‘The Groove’ Big Band. This is an enjoyable summer evening of music while also supporting a very worthy cause. Admission is €10. Parent, Baby and Toddler group: Weekly meeting at Bailieborough Library.

Bailieborough Library Parent, Baby and Toddler Group has proven to be a vital life line for all stay-at-home parents who may be new to the area and wish to get out of the house and make new friends. There is a huge range of toys for children to play with, while parents can enjoy a cup of tea and chat.

The group meets at the Library Arts space every Wednesday at 10.30am-12pm. Why not join their Facebook Group and keep up to date with news and events.

FAMILY FUNDAY!!!!!!!!!!!:

Bailieborough Shamrocks have a huge Family FUNDAY organised for Sunday 8th May 2016….

Some of the events planned for the day, include underage schools matches, egg and spoon races, sack races, underage parents matches and a FR TED SLOW FOOTBALL MATCH for OVER 5O’s with all players dressed as Fr Ted characters….. Fr Dougal, Mrs Doyle, Fr Jack etc!!!! Now that will be worth seeing….

So please everyone keep the date free and attend our FUNDAY. Lots for the young and old. There will also be a BBQ and Music to finish of the day. Look forward to welcoming everyone to Bailieborough Shamrocks GAA Grounds!!! See you there. Free admission and all are welcome.

The following are the dates for Baptisms in St. Anne’s Church for the Months of May and June -, Sunday May 8th, Sunday May 22nd, Sunday June 5th and Sunday June 26th –Baptisms will take place on Sundays at 12.30pm.

 

 

 

  East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Hurling News 25th April 2016

Under 6/8/10;

Hopefully the first round of outdoor blitzes will take place over the coming weeks.

Hopefully this will be the last indoor week for Kingscourt group. Our Bailieborough/Shercock group will train again outdoors this week at the astro at the Vale. This week we will train all U6/8/10 together from 6.15-7.45.

Under 12;

There are a couple of postponed games to catch up on over the next few weeks.

Under 14;

The lads beat Monaghan Harps and were defeated by Castleblayney in the opening rounds of the Monaghan League.

Under 16/18;

New players are especially welcome. Equipment supplied while learning the game.

Celtic Challenge;

Wishing Rory, Jack, Kyle and Cian the very best of luck with the Cavan Celtic Challenge squad as they prepare for this new inter county competition.

Lourdes:

 The annual Kilmore Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes takes place this year from 27th May to 1st June. Bookings should be made as soon as possible – because places are limited – through the Kilmore Pastoral Centre, Cullies, Cavan (St Patrick’s College) or

Tel 049 4375 004 – Office hours are 10.00 am to 1.00 pm Monday to Friday. Booking Forms are available by contacting the office. Lourdes is a really special place as anyone who has ever visited will confirm.

 

Lavey 2 Lourdes:

A number of Cyclist’s are taking on the challenge to Cycle from Lavey to Lourdes on Sunday 15th May and hope to be there when the Pilgrimage arrives. This is to raise funds for the Kilmore Pilgrimage – Assisted Pilgrim Section. If you would like to support this venture all contributions will be gratefully appreciated.
