Bailieborough Community Choir:
Bailieborough Community Choir will be holding a ‘May Madness’ variety concert on Saturday next, May 28th at 8.30 in Bailieborough Community Centre with a donation from proceeds going to Bailieborough Cancer Comfort fund.
There is no charge at the door but there will be an opportunity to make a voluntary donation and there will also be a raffle.
There will be a number of young soloists, musicians, a comedy act and the choir will be performing some new pieces as well as a choral medley of Les Miserables !!
Please support the night as it will be a first time performance for many of the young people.
FIRST COMMUNION:
Congratulations to the children in 2nd Class in St. Felim’s National School who received their First Communion on Saturday last in St. Annes.
The children from St. Anne’s and The Model School will receive for the first time, their First Holy Communion on Saturday next, 28th May in St. Anne’s Church at 11am.
May is Mary’s Month:
The Rosary will be recited at the Grotto on the Virginia Road every evening during the month of May at 7.30pm. No Rosary on Saturdays. Everyone welcome to offer prayer for the sick of our Parish as well as any private intention.
Bailieboro Celtic AFC:
The A.G.M. of Bailieboro Celtic AFC takes place in the Club Rooms, The Vale on Friday 17th June at 8:00 pm .All member’s nomination’s and motions should be made in writing, proposed and seconded and posted to Sec. Eric McCullagh, Kilnacross, before 3rd June 2016.
Bailieborough School of Music
would like to thank everyone who helped make our fundraising concert for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin a very big success. Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket, attended on the night or made a donation. Our raffle was very generously supported and we really appreciated the spot prizes received from La Mirage, Fox’s Bar, Lydia Uceda (Caramelos Lydia), Eugene and Patricia Brady (Medal Plaque Displays) Geraldine Cosgrove, Muriel Lambert, Norma Sherlock, Georgina Rogers, Angela Pidgeon, Consuelo Halpin, Maggie Donohoe, Marie Logan and the others who dropped items off anonymously. Thank you to our teachers in particular David McGauran, Liam McCabe and Laurina Cooney who performed on the night. Thank you to our Musical Director, Micheal Gaskin who worked very hard as always to put the show together. We are very thankful to Bailieborough Community School, for the venue and support we received from the Principal and staff. Finally thank you to the members of our Junior and Senior Bands for their performances on the night and especially the members of ‘The Groove’ who reformed for the occasion, you were magnificent. A fantastic total of €1965.50 was raised to date.

Deepest Sympathy:
Deepest Sympathy is extended to the Family, Relatives and Friends of Mrs Philomena Lynch, Dromore, Bailieborough whose Funeral Mass took place in St. Annes on Thursday morning last followed by interment in St. Anne’s Cemetery.
The Vale N.S. (St Felim’s)
were recently crowned winners in the Connacht/Ulster Region for their water conservation project, under the Green Flag School’s scheme. Four children from the school were chosen to receive the award on behalf of the school. Ms Purcell, from the teaching staff, took the four to Dublin. They were very excited to see their photo in the Irish Times newspaper on the following day. The students were Garry Leddy, Soirse Cooney, Caoimhe Clarke and Barry Cahill. Well done to all concerned.

The Bailieborough Bridge Club AGM was held on Tuesday, May 3rd at 8.00pm in The Bailie Hotel. Prior to the AGM, the outgoing President, Betty Olwell made the presentation to the winners of her Prize, namely, Tom Moran and John McGahan, and to all the other prize winners named above. The incoming President, Noreen Maguire complimented Betty on her excellent year and wished all the members a healthy and happy summer. She said she looked forward to the resumption of Bridge on October 4th at 7.30pm. Any new member wishing to join the club should contact her at 086 0666170. MASS FOR THE SICK:
To coincide with the beginning of the Kilmore Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes, a special Mass for the Sick will take place in St. Anne’s Church tonight, Wednesday, 25th May at 7pm. The sacrament of the sick will be administered during the Mass to those who feel the need of its grace at this time.

Forthcoming ‘Blue Plaque’ Unveiling:
As part of Cavan County Council’s 1916/2016 Centenary programme of events and in association with the Ulster History Circle, a Blue Plaque to honour Francis Sheehy Skeffington will be unveiled on Thursday June 9th at 7.30.pm. Dr Micheline Sheehy Skeffington, granddaughter of Francis and Hanna Sheehy Skeffington will unveil the plaque at Bailieborough Library.

Bailieborough Library Parent, Baby and Toddler Group has proven to be a vital life line for all stay-at-home parents who may be new to the area and wish to get out of the house and make new friends. There is a huge range of toys for children to play with, while parents can enjoy a cup of tea and chat.

Under 6/8/10; We had a good evening in bright sunshine in Cloghan on Wednesday last as our Under 8s and 10s had good games v Carrick, Blayney and Clontibret. Under 10 tournament coming up in June. Carrick Under 10s will come to us on Wednesday for a challenge.

Under 14; Excitement is now building for National Féile na nGael which is just under a month away as we continue preparations for our trip to Tipperary.
Our Monaghan league game v Truagh and this week’s game v Carrick have been postponed until local football championship is finished to avoid clashing.
Under 16/18; New players are especially welcome. Equipment supplied while learning the game.
Inter county news; Celtic Challenge;
Heartbreak for the boys as two very late Monaghan goals snatched victory from their grasp on Wednesday last. Next up it’s Longford this Wednesday. Best of luck to all involved.
Lucky first goal; Scratch cards will be distributed to all players and parents in the next week. Please support when you can as this is our major fundraiser for this year.
Hurling training times and venues; Under 6/8/10; Kingscourt group;
Training will move to Wednesdays from this coming Wednesday from 6 at Kingscourt Stars pitch.
Bailieborough group U6/8/10;
Training will remain on Friday at the Community School pitch. U6/8 from 6-7 and No Under 10 this week as lads will play Carrick on Wednesday.
