Parish Pilgrimage:

This year’s Parish Pilgrimage will take place on Sunday next, June 18th. It will take the form of a walk from the old cemetery in Killann to Killann Church (approximately 2 miles). The Mass and pilgrimage will begin at 11.30am in the old cemetery in Killann.

People from all parts of the parish and the pastoral area are invited to attend. Those attending are asked to park at Killann Church. Buses will transport participants from there to the start of the pilgrimage at Killann Cemetery. The first bus will leave at 10.30am and the last at 11.15am. A bus will follow the pilgrimage in case some people are unable to walk the full distance.

 

The ‘Open Door Sessions’:

The Open Door Sessions continue this Friday, June 16th in Fox’s Lounge, Bailieborough at 9pm.

This month’s line-up includes music by Shane Kenny and Gillian Tuite also arts with Mark Smith of Kells Type Trail. Free admission, all are welcome.

Charity Cycle for Kevin Bell Repatriation Fund:

The ‘Kevin Bell Repatriation Fund’ will be holding a ‘Spinathon’ next Saturday the 17th of June outside of Tesco, Bailieborough and SuperValu, Main St, Bailieborough, so please come out and support.  We are also looking for cyclists to give an hour or so, if anyone is available please send a message with times that suit.

Also, we are holding a 5k ‘Fun Run and Walk’ on Sunday next, 18th of June setting off from the Community Centre, Bailieborough. Registration from 10.30am.and the event starts at 11.30am. All welcome and hope to see you all there!! Refreshments afterwards.

 

Free Course:

The Beckscourt Centre, Bailieborough are offering a Free Internet/Digital Skills Training Course for anyone who wants to learn a little more about using the internet. The course will cover email, online government services, revenue, banking, shopping,  etc. using ‘apps’, Skype, internet safety and security. 5K/10K FUN-RUN/WALK:

East Knockbride N.S. Parents Association are holding their annual 5k and 10k Fun-Run/Walk on Sunday next, 18th June 2017 at 5pm.  Registration from 4.15pm in school, Walk/Run commencing at 5.00pm.  Adults €10, Children €5, family rates available.  Refreshments in school afterwards.  Your support would be greatly appreciated.

 

Bailieborough Tidy Towns:

We will continue the clean up every Tuesday at 7pm (for one hour only). Lots of help needed.  We would appreciate if business / home owners in the area would do a ‘clean-up’ also!  Thank you.

Bailieborough Community Choir:

Bailieborough Community Choir is looking for new members to join its growing membership. Please contact any choir member or look at their facebook page for further information.

 

Bailieborough Men’s Shed:

Members meet every Monday morning from 10am at the Beckscourt Centre. Members of the Shed are able to gather socially or work on meaningful projects at their own pace, in their own time and in the company of other men. The main objective is to advance the Health and Wellbeing of the participants. If you are interested, we would love to see you. Drop in next Monday or any Monday and say ‘Hello’!

 

Essay Awards:

Bailieborough Mental Health Group hosted a very well attended Awards evening in The Bailie Hotel on Friday, June 2nd, 2017. The Essay Competition was on the subject of Mental Health and is designed to raise awareness and to teach children of the importance of mental health and wellbeing. Well done to Ann Hanley, Winston Turner, Audrey Rogers, Rose Brennan and Sean McKiernan on the tireless work they do in this area. The competition was excellent with a high standard in essay writing, the following were presented with first place awards:

The prizes were presented by members of the Association and a very large crowd was in attendance on the night – students, teachers and parents. The Presentation was followed by light refreshments.

Wednesday, June 21st: Dartrey, Cootehill:

(M) Walk, 90 minutes, (E) Walk, 1 hour. Leaving Bailieborough Library at 6.45pm. Walks commence at 7.15pm at the Car Park on the Cootehill to Rockcorry Road—R 188. The Car Park is 1 Kilometre from Cootehill on the right before Abbott’s Factory. All welcome.

Bailieborough Library Parent, Baby and Toddler Group has proven to be a vital life line for all stay-at-home parents who may be new to the area and wish to get out of the house and make new friends. There is a huge range of toys for children to play with, while parents can enjoy a cup of tea and chat.

The group meets at the Library Arts space every Wednesday at 10.30am-12pm. Why not join their Facebook Group and keep up to date with news and events.

East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Hurling News 12th June 2017

Under 6/8/10; Once again two great sessions in Kingscourt and Bailieborough. Training this Thursday in Kingscourt but no Bailieborough U6/8/10 session this week as we are away at National Feile. Let’s keep it going untill the school holidays.

Under 12; Challenge game Monday at 6.30 in Carrickmacross. League action should return next week.

Under 14; Feile na nGael 2017: Just a few days to go to one of the biggest events of the year. We are staying in Leighlinbridge in County Carlow with host club Naomh Bríd. It should be another fantastic weekend of hurling and with Carlow winning the Christy Ring Cup in Croke Park on Saturday last the atmosphere should be great.

First game Friday 4pm v St. Pauls, Kilkenny.

Second game 6pm v Knockbridge from Louth.

Saturday morning 11.15 v Naomh Bríd.

Quarter finals in St. Johns Park, Kilkenny on Saturday afternoon.

County; Cavan were defeated by four points by Kildare in the quarter final of the Celtic Challenge. Well done to all the ECG boys who gained invaluable inter county hurling experience over the five games played in this competition.
