Bailieborough Group of Parishes:
The ‘Harvest Service’ in Knockbride Parish Church will take place on Sunday, October 6th at 7.30pm. The speaker will be Rev Mark Smith. All welcome.
Bailieborough Active Age Group: Next meeting on Tuesday, 15th October in the Courthouse from 2pm to 4pm. Hope to see you all there. Everyone Welcome.
Regretted Death: Rose Fulton (nee Clarke), Cavan Road, Bailieborough, Co Cavan passed away on Monday, 23rd September 2024 in her 99th year, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in the exceptional care of the Newgrange Unit in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda. Rose was predeceased by her beloved grandson Joseph and son-in-law David.
Deeply regretted by her sons Joseph (Eileen) and Paddy (Rosemary), daughters Angela, Marguerite (Pat) and Rosemary (Bert), grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her many friends.
Rose’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Annes Church, Bailieborough on Thursday, September 26th and afterwards, Rose’s remains were laid to rest in St. Annes Cemetery.
Bailieborough Bowls: Indoor bowls have recommenced in the Bailieborough Community Centre on Wednesday’s at 8pm. Tuition is available free of charge and membership is open to all members of the community.
Regretted Death: Brenda McDonald (nee Clarke), Chapel Road, Bailieborough, Co Cavan passed away on Thursday, 26th September 2024, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, following a short illness.
Deeply regretted by her loving husband Paddy, daughter Vanessa, son Peter, son-in-law Austin, daughter-in-law Van Anh, grandchildren Emma, Thomas, Leah, Shane, Lily, James and Patrick, brothers Kieran, Tony, Damien and Brian, sister Joan (predeceased by her brothers and sisters Mai, Betty, Eileen, Tricia, Patsy, Raymond, and Peadar), nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Brenda’s Funeral Mass took place on Saturday, September 28th in St. Annes Church, Bailieborough and afterwards, Brenda’s remains were laid to rest in St. Annes Cemetery.

Bailieborough Library: We’re kicking off the Halloween season here at Bailieborough Library with a poetry competition for children aged 9-12yrs but kids of all ages are welcome to give it a go!
Gary the Ghost is causing trouble at Bailieborough Library and we need your help to scare him away! The author of the best scariest poem will win a special Halloween hamper to say thank you! Pop into Bailieborough Library to pick up your entry form and poetry template now! Closing date is the 19th of October.
Book Club: The next meeting of the Library ‘Book Club’ will take place on Thursday, October 24th at 6.30pm. This months book to review, is ‘The Queen of Dirt Island’ by Donal Ryan. Copies are available from behind the Library desk.
The craft group takes place every Friday at 11am in the Library.
Line Dancing: Line Dancing has resumed on Tuesday’s, at 8.15pm in the Couthouse, Lr. Main St. New members are always welcome.

Regretted Death: Mona Reilly (Nee Lynch), Ballinamoney, Bailieborough, Co Cavan, passed away on Sunday, 22nd September 2024, peacefully in St. Mary’s Nursing Home, Castleblaney, surrounded by her loving family and the staff of the Drumlins Unit. Mona was predeceased by her loving husband Peter, parents, brothers and sister.
Deeply regretted by her sons Noel, P.J. (Brid) and Michael (Teresa), daughters Bridie (Michael), Helen (Seamus), Ann (Gerry) and Agnes (Damien), grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister Bridie, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and a wide circle of friends.

Swim Ireland: Swim Ireland have partnered with Bailieborough Leisure Centre Cavan to deliver ‘HE Swims’
This programme is aimed at males who want to increase their level of physical activity. The classes are a mix of semi structured swimming lessons and some aqua fit movements. There is an important element of social inclusion with this programme, participants forage new friendships while being active in the water. Please contact the Cente, for more information.

Careers: Thinking of changing career, need advice on careers, educational needs, CV help, interview skills – CMETB (Cavan Monaghan Education and Training Board) will facilitate a FREE drop in service at the Library on the last Wednesday of each month from 2.15pm-4.30pm. .No appointment is necessary.
‘Melting Words-Creative Conversations’: As part of ‘The Art of Life Project’ funded by Creative Ireland, Shared Island and Cavan County Council through Creative Cavan. This FREE mindful art workshop will provide a meaningful and engaging way for adults to explore and start conversations about death and dying. Most of us don’t want to think about what will happen after we die because we are living our lives, however the ending of our stories matter too. When we are open to talk out about death and dying with our loved ones, we create an opportunity to engage in meaningful exchanges before it’s too late.

East Cavan Gaels: East Cavan Gaels Hurling Club News 30th September 2024
Senior; Focus now turns to the Ulster Junior Hurling Championship on the first weekend of November with a home fixture v the Tyrone Junior Championship winners in Kingspan Breffni. Training and challenge games aplenty to prepare. The Cootehill Celtic 7 a side competition will help sharpen the lads for bigger challenge ahead.

U12s get a week off and hopefully a game next weekend.
Our indoor season started well in Mullagh on Friday last. This coming week we return to Shercock on Wednesday, Mullagh on Friday and Killinkere on Saturday. Everyone is welcome to any, or all, sessions.
Cavan GAA have hurling training sessions for all aged 8-11 at Kingspan Breffni starting on Monday from 6.30-7.30. Over 60 boys at last Mondays session so a positive start there. Also 11-14 year olds on Thursday at 6.30 at Kingspan Breffni 3G.

Our ever popular table quiz will return on Friday, 29th November in Nixys, The Square Bar in Bailieborough. Always a great social occasion for the club with the welcome addition of the more than welcome Tom Walsh (Senior Hurling Championship) Cup which will be on display, with photo opportunities too! Mark and Caroline Argue always set the bar high with their tests of knowledge and we look forward to another well attended night with raffle and spot prizes too!
