Local History Talk: A talk entitled, ‘The Complete History of the Castle’ by John Brady, will take place in Bailieborough Courthouse on Thursday, October 5th, 2023. Doors open at 7.30pm tea and coffee afterwards and admission is free. All welcome.
Date for your Diary: Confirmatin 2024: Confirmation will take place on Saturday, May 18th, 2024 at 11.00am and 3.00pm in St. Annes Church, Bailieborough. St. Felim’s N.S., The Vale and St. Patrick’s N.S., Shercck will take place in the morning and St. Anne’s N.S., Bailieborough will take place in the afternoon.

Deepest Sympathy: Deepest Sympathy is extended to husband Aidan, son Darah and daughter Diesa, sister Dolores, brother TJ, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, niece, extended family and friends on the passing of Maura King (nee O’Brien), The Vale, Bailieborough and ‘La Mirage’, Main Street, Bailieborough, Co Cavan, who passed away on Wednesday, 20th September 2023, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in the loving care of the wonderful staff of St. Elizabeth’s Ward, The Mater Private Hospital, Dublin. Maura was predeceased by her parents Tommy and Margaret O’Brien (Main Street) and her sister Paula.
Maura’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Anne’s Church, Bailieborough on Saturday, September 23rd and afterwards, Maura’s remains were laid to rest in St. Anne’s Cemetery.
Indoor Bowling: Indoor Bowling continues in the Community Centre, Bailieborough on Wednesday evenings at 8.00pm. New members welcome and free tuition for beginners will be provided.
Bailieborough Group of Parishes: Harvest Services:

Bailieborough Craft Group: The Group meets every Friday from 10am-12.30pm in the Library and new members are always welcome regardless of talents or skills.
Careers: Thinking of changing career, need advice on careers, educational needs, CV help, interview skills – CMETB (Cavan Monaghan Education and Training Board) will facilitate a FREE drop in service at the Library on the first Thursday of each month on Thursday 5th October 2023 from 2pm-4.30pm. No appointment is necessary.
FREE study space and WIFI available here for all who are in the middle of studying. Other services for students include printing, photocopying, local history/history resources, reference books, public PCs, staff advice, comfortable warm spaces. All are welcome!
Regretted Death: Deepest Sympathy is extended to husband John, daughters Miriam, Claire and Sinead, sons Stephen, Padraig and Paul, daughters-in-law Blaithin, Ruth and Ita, son-in-law Fred, grandchildren Stephen, Kate, Jane, Sarah, Naomi, Jack, Lucia and Austin, sister Bernadette, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends on the death of Carmel Brennan (nee Askin), Lisnalea, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan and formerly of Donagh, Glaslough, Co. Monaghan, who passed away on Tuesday the 19th September 2023, peacefully at her home in the company of her loving family. Carmel was predeceased by her parents Patrick and Elizabeth Askin.
Carmel’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Anne’s Chrch, Bailieborough on Friday, September 22nd and afterwards, Carmel’s remains were laid to rest in St. Annes Cemetery.
Bailieborough Men’s Shed: Bailieborough ‘Men’s Shed’ is open every Tuesday morning from 10.00am to 1.00pm in the Bexcourt Centre, Shercock Road. New members are always most welcome.

Cavan and formerly Mayo)(peacefully) in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda. John was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Delores and his sister Angela.
John’s Funeral Mass took place on Thursday, September 21st in St. Monica’s Church, Edenmore, Raheny and john’s remains were laid to rest in Co. Mayo on Friday, September 22nd following prayers in Hineys Funeral Home, Knockglass.

Walk, Jog or Run: Now that the evenings are getting short again we will be starting back, running and walking for all levels, beginners and advanced. Fun and free, social gathering in the Chapel car park, Lake Shore, Bailieborough at 8pm. All old and new people welcome. It’s a well lit up run. Stretch before and afterwards, every Monday and Wednesday evening.
Halloween ‘Fright Night’: Fright Night is back again!!
Join us for an evening full of fun and scares at the Bailieborough Town Lake from 7.00pm on Monday, October 30th. Bigger and better than ever. Suitable for all ages. Car parking available at the Community Centre, Community School or the Church Carpark on the Virginia Road side. No parking available at the event location.. Fancy dress and lights display. East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Hurling News 25th September 2023:
Senior, U17/15/13/11/9/7;
The Seniors return to training and prepare for Cootehill 7s and SHL.
The U17s will train with the Seniors for the remainder of the season.
The U13s put in an impressive performance in winning v Cavan Gaels in Bailieborough on Sunday last. Well done to all.
The U11s await the final round of the Monaghan U11 league v Inniskeen hopefully over the next couple of weeks as well as the Cavan U11 final.
Under 7 and Under 9s are now in the the new after school programme.
