Alison Fisher ‘Go Fund Me’ Update: Thank you to absolutely everyone who have donated to Alisons fundraiser . We are so overwhelmed by the generosity of people who took the time to read our story and donate. These funds will now help Alison and her Mum through their journey ahead in Germany and aftercare. Alison will start her treatment this week . We wish her only the best ahead and quick recovery. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.

Santa Claus is coming to Town!: On Saturday, November 30th, a very special person will be coming to town to turn on the Bailieborough Christmas Lights. All are asked to be at the Market Square at 5.00pm and help the ‘Man of the Moment’, with the countdown to turn on the new Christmas Lights. All welcome to come along for this great event.

BAILIEBOROUGH COMMUNITY SCHOOL REUNION

Class of 1994 30 Year School Reunion, will take place on Friday, 27th  December, at 8.30pm in the Bailie Hotel lounge. A night not to be missed.

Bailieborough Heritage Society: We are pleased to announce our membership of the Digital Repository of Ireland.

We are privileged to have acquired a collection of newsletters published by Mr Peter McConnell a native of Bailieborough. These contain a vast selection of interesting articles and photographs of great interest that he compiled during the 1990’s and 2000’s. These relate to Bailieborough and the surrounding areas of East Cavan.

Our DRI membership will ensure that this collection and other items we have gathered will be preserved and maintained for future generations to access and appreciate.

Regretted Death:  The death has occured of John Murray, Gartenane, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan.

John Murray, Gartenane, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan, passed away on Monday, 11th  November 2024, peacefully at Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. John was predeceased by his wife Rose (Baba), his parents Bernard and Elizabeth, sisters Alice and Eileen and brother Pat.

Deeply regretted by his son Martin, daughter-in-law Denise, adored granddaughter Aoibheann, brothers-in-law Matt and Richard, nieces, nephews, relatives, especially the Donnellan, Murray and Connolly families and a large circle of friends.

John’s Funeral Mass took place on Thursday, November 14th in St. Annes Church, Bailieborough and afterwards, John’s remains were laid to rest in St. Annes Cemetery. 

St. Annes National School Enrolment: Parents seeking to enrol their child or children in St. Anne’s N.S. for the 2025/2026 School Year are requested to return a completed Enrolment Application form before Friday, January 31st  2025. Bridge :  Bridge takes place every Tuesday night in the Bailie Hotel. Start Time is 7pm sharp. New Members Welcome.

Model School Enrolment: Enrolment is now taking place for the school year 2025-2026.Application forms are available on the school website or by contacting the school office on 042 9665689.

Bailieborough Active Age Group: Next meeting on Tuesday, November 26th  in the Courthouse from 2pm to 4pm. Hope to see you all there. Everyone Welcome.

Water Mains Flushing: Dhuish GWS are flushing the lines over a two week period which started on Monday, 18th  of November.  Any queries, please contact 087 6293035.

Christmas Carols: By the newly formed Killann Chorus, formerly known as ‘Hardtimes’–on Thursday, December 19th at 8.00pm in St. Annes Church, Bailieborough. Donations on the night towards, ‘Alison Fisher’s Go Fund Me. Choir practice takes place in St. Annes Church on Monday’s at 7.30pm. Past and new members are very welcome. No experience neccessary.

St. Felim’s. N.S., (The Vale) is currently inviting applications for admission to Junior Infants for  2025/2026, from Monday, December 2nd. Bailieborough Bowls: Indoor bowls have recommenced in the Bailieborough Community Centre on Wednesday’s at 8pm. Tuition is available free of charge and membership is open to all members of the community.

Home Energy savings event in Bailieborough: A public information evening on home retrofitting and energy saving will be held in Bailieborough Community Centre, (A82 T2Y6), on Thursday 21 st November at 7.30pm. Home Retrofitting is an enhancement of older houses that will make the properties more energy efficient. Grants through the SEAI will help home owners insulate their properties, to tackle heating efficiency and energy costs. Admission free and everyone welcome. Bailieborough Creative Hub: Bailieborough Creative Hub presents, Juliana Gilbride, solo art exhibition entitled ‘The Stories They Could Tell’ in Bailieborough Library on Thursday, November 21st at 7.30pm. Everyone welcome.  

Line Dancing: Line Dancing has resumed on Tuesday’s, at 8.15pm in the Couthouse, Lr. Main St. New members are always welcome. 

Digital Skills Clinic: New , Free Digital Skills Clinic for older people taking place in Bailieborough Library on Thursday mornings. You can book a one hour, one -to-one session with a tutor by contacting Bailieborough Library on 042 9665779.

Careers: Thinking of changing career, need advice on careers, educational needs, CV help, interview skills – CMETB (Cavan Monaghan Education and Training Board) will facilitate a FREE drop in service at the Library on the first Wednesday of each month from 2.15pm-4.30pm. .No appointment is necessary. Next month’s date is Wednesday 4th December,

Walk, Jog or Run: Hello all,  just an invite to anyone out there on Monday evenings for the winter.  We are having a run, walk or jog at 7pm from the Chapel car park, Lake Shore Bailieborough. No charge, no fee ! All welcome, new and old.  Well lit up route, exercise, stretch before and after.  Meet new friends and give it a try.
