Bailieborough News. May 26th 2025. Matthew J. Cullen.

Well Done: Congratulations to the Parish Green Group who won the Anglo-Celt Green Project of the Year Award in the Cavan Crystal Hotel on Thursday afternoon last. This is a fitting acknowledgement of the committed work of the Killann Parish Green Group to respond to the appeal of the late Pope Francis for Christians to show leadership in responding to the environmental crisis. Since its formation, the Parish Green Group have planted many trees on Parish groundm developed an outdoor classroom at the wetlands across from the Town lake, engaged with the local schools and the wider community in a number of imaginative projects. Particular thanks must be given to Eilish McGowan and Barry Kavanagh, who have given great leadership to the group. This is well deserved recognition of the Green Group’s sterling work over the past three years and hopefully, many more benefits will arise over the coming years.
