Volunteers Needed on this Saturday: Old Bailieborough Church of Ireland Graveyard: Volunteers wanted to strim grass.  Please bring your own equipment etc. Meeting at the Graveyard at 11am on Saturday 19th  October.

Halloween ‘Fright Night’: Fright Night is back again!!

Join us for an evening full of fun and scares at the Bailieborough Town Lake from 7.00pm on Monday, October 28th. Bigger and better than ever. Suitable for all ages.   Car parking available at the Community Centre, Community School or the Church Carpark on the Virginia Road side. No parking available at the event location.. Fancy dress and lights display. This year, ‘The Workshop Dance Acedemy’ will keep all the boys and girls entertained by teaching a fun Halloween Dance! If the lake floods, we will have music, fun, games and fancy dress in the car park too.  Tickets are €5 per person for the ‘Scary Walk’.  The main sponsor this year is Link Credit Union. Bailieborough Bowls: Indoor bowls have recommenced in the Bailieborough Community Centre on Wednesday’s at 8pm. Tuition is available free of charge and membership is open to all members of the community.

Bailieborough Drama Group: It’s that time of year again!

Bailieborough Drama Group are heading out on the One-Act Circuit with ‘Dying Minutes’ written by our very own, Liz O’Hanlon.

Starring local actors and legends of the stage Conor Shaffrey, Paddy Sheanon, Cyril Keegan, Fergal Donnelly  and Liz O’Hanlon.

Don’t miss your chance to see our opening night next Friday, in Mullagh Hall at 8pm. Tickets available at the door.

Bailieborough Bingo: Thank you so much to Cavan Rose of Tralee 2024, Grace Farrelly for the beautiful cake she dropped in to Bingo last Tuesday evening. Everyone enjoyed it immensely, not a crumb left !!

Grace wanted to express her gratitude to everyone for their kindness, well wishes and support. A true Rose if ever we saw one!

October—Month of the Rosary: The Rosary will be recited for the month of October in St. Annes Church , Bailieborough at 7.30pm. Please note, no Rosary on Saturdays. Everyone is welcome and we look forward to new members joining us.

Bailieborough Library:  We’re kicking off the Halloween season here at Bailieborough Library with a poetry competition for children aged 9-12yrs but kids of all ages are welcome to give it a go!

Gary the Ghost is causing trouble at Bailieborough Library and we need your help to scare him away! The author of the best scariest poem will win a special Halloween hamper to say thank you! Pop into Bailieborough Library to pick up your entry form and poetry template now! Closing date is the 19th  of October.

Book Club: The next meeting of the Library ‘Book Club’ will take place on Thursday, October 24th at 6.30pm. This months book to review, is ‘The Queen of Dirt Island’ by Donal Ryan. Copies are available from behind the Library desk.

The craft group takes place every Friday at 11am in the Library.

Bailieborough Shamrocks G.F.C.: Best wishes to Bailieborough Shamrocks Minors who play Butlersbridge in the Division 2 Minor Championship Final on Saturday next, 19th  October in Kingspan Breffni Park at 5.00pm. . Hats, flags or headbands ….. get all your wants in Supervalu to support our Minor lads. Best of luck!

Bailieborough Shamrocks LGFA are preparing for the 2025 season. We are looking for volunteers and coaches for all age grades. No experience required, however there is garda vetting/ safeguarding/ coach mentoring which will be facilitated by our club.

Line Dancing: Line Dancing has resumed on Tuesday’s, at 8.15pm in the Couthouse, Lr. Main St. New members are always welcome. 

Bailieborough Community School presents ‘Oliver’: Bailieborough Community School are staging ‘Oliver’ in the Community School Assembly Hall, on Thursday, 24th of October, Friday 25th and Saturday, 26th . Stage time is 8.00pm each night and the doors close at 7.45pm. Tickets are €15 for adults and €12 for children. All tickets must be paid for and collected by Tuesday next, October 22nd to facilitate easy admission each night. East Cavan Swim Club: The Annual General Meeting of the East Cavan Swim Club will take place in the Community Centre, Chapel Road on Thursday, November 7th at 8.00pm. Please come along and support!

Careers: Thinking of changing career, need advice on careers, educational needs, CV help, interview skills – CMETB (Cavan Monaghan Education and Training Board) will facilitate a FREE drop in service at the Library on the first Wednesday of each month from 2.15pm-4.30pm. .No appointment is necessary. Next month’s date is Wednesday, November 6th.

Walk, Jog or Run: Hello all,  just an invite to anyone out there on Monday evenings for the winter.  We are having a run, walk or jog at 7pm from the Chapel car park, Lake Shore Bailieborough. No charge, no fee ! All welcome, new and old.  Well lit up route, exercise, stretch before and after.  Meet new friends and give it a try.

East Cavan Gaels:East Cavan Gaels Hurling Club News 14th  October 2024

Senior; Preparations continue for the Ulster Junior Championship in early November v Omagh who won the Tyrone Championship last week. Training and games to prepare.

U8/10/12/14/16/18; U12/14/16s have training on Monday 7pm, Championships in all grades to come soon. The U14s will be the first into battle in a couple of weeks with their final v Cootehill.

Three good indoor sessions in Shercock, Mullagh and Killinkere over the last week with plenty of options to get your hurling fix!

Cavan GAA have hurling training sessions for all, aged 8-11 at Kingspan Breffni on Mondays from 6.30-7.30. Also 11-14 year olds on Thursdays at 6.30 at Kingspan Breffni 3G.

Save the date!! Our ever popular Table Quiz will return on Friday, 29th  November in Nixys, The Square Bar in Bailieborough.
