Friends of the Castle Lake: A ‘Bio Blitz ‘ will take place at the Castle Lake Bailieborough, on Sunday next 30^th  October at 2.00pm.

Barry Kavanagh will host the event on behalf of the Friends of the Castle Lake,

helping us to identify various plants and trees before the forest goes to sleep for the Winter. All are welcome to attend.

Take Back to Take Care: Do you have prescription medications lying around at home? On Saturday next, October 29^th from 2pm – 6pm, Cavan Drugs Unit together with Foróige will be at the Courthouse, Bailieborough to dispose of unused/unwanted prescription medication. Foróige staff will also tell us all how to store them correctly

Deepest Sympathy:  Deepest Sympathy is extended to husband Patrick O’Reilly, their beautiful new twin babies Lilly and PJ, beloved parents Christa and Bill Fegan, brother Daniel and his fiancée Mareike, on the death of Sarah O’Reilly (nee Fegan) Lear, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan and formerly of Selsingen, Germany, who passed away on Sunday, October 16^th  2022, in Beaumont Hospital ICU, after a short illness  Dearly missed by her in-laws Wanie and Pat A O’Reilly, brothers and sisters in law Torlac (Annette) (Cork), Brid (Denis) (Australia), Sinead (Cathal) and Sean (Bailieborough) and her nieces and nephews Emily, Andrew, Torlac Og O’Reilly, Liam and George Donnelly, Arthur, Isabella and Jarlath Jackson. Sadly missed by all her extended family and close friends throughout Ireland, America, Spain, UK and Germany.

Sarah’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Annes Church, Bailieborough on Friday, October 21^st and afterwards, Sarah’s remains were laid to rest in St. Annes Cemetery.

On Friday, 4^th  November from 2.15pm-4.15pm, children aged 6+ can make a patchwork/collage ‘Magic House’ using lots of different materials.

Regretted Death: Deepest Sympathy is extended to son Darragh, daughter Neasa, brothers Patrick, Tom, Colm, Niall and Michael, sisters Breda and Mary, daughter in law Grainne, son in law Karl, grandchildren David, Conor, Cian and Ailbhe, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends on the death of Emer Jones (nee Trainor), Rakeevan, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan, who passed away on Tuesday,18^th  October 2022, peacefully at Cavan General Hospital following a short illness, surrounded by her loving family. Emer was predeceased by her husband Matt.

West Knockbride Parents Association: West Knockbride Parents Association presents a ‘Halloween Disco’ from 6.30pm to 8.00pm, in Tunnyduff Hall on this Friday evening, October 28^th. Indoor Bowling: Indoor Bowling takes place in the Community Centre, Bailieborough, every Wednesday evening for the Winter months at 8.00pm. New members welcome.

Bailieborough Celtic A.F.C. :  Congratulations and Well Done to Bailieboro Celtic player Rhys Englishby, who was in attendance at the CMUL Emerging Talent program /LOI Awards night in the Cavan Crystal Hotel and has been recognised for his participation in the Under 14 CMUL Kennedy Cup 2022 Tournament. Also well done to Bailieboro Celtic Girls Sophie Holland and Lucie Gibson, who were also in attendance at the CMUL Emerging Talent program/LOI awards night in the Cavan Crystal Hotel, in recognition of their participation on the Girls U12 team.

Lucie also received the U12 girls Player of the Year Award.

 Bailieboro Celtic Girls U12 (born 2011/2012) and U14 (born 2009/2010) teams are looking for new girls to join us for the current season.

Have fun, make new friends and become part of a great team sport.

East Cavan Swim Club: Thank you to Strule Dolphins Swim Club in Omagh for hosting us at our first PTL meet on Saturday evening. Super swimming from both teams with some very exciting races. Well done to both teams.

We are very proud of of all of our swimmers, from our newest to our most experienced, amazing for us to win this meet.

Deepest Sympathy: Deepest Sympathy is extended to uncles, George (Canada), Dick (UK), Bertie (Dunshaughlin), Willie (Lisball), aunts in law, cousins, relatives, work colleagues in Rehab Care, many friends and neighbours on the death of Derek Smyth, Woodview and formerly Bracklin, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan, who passed away on  Thursday, October 20^th, 2022, peacefully at Lisdarn Care Unit, Cavan, surrounded by his loving family. Derek was predeceased by his parents Robbie and Lucy.

It was Derek ‘s wish, that his body would be donated to Medical Science.

Outdoor Book Club: Outdoor Book Club, Sweet Treat for €4, starting at ‘The Coffee by Bernard’ Dock, on Thursday next, October 27^th at 11.00am, at the Shercock Road entrance to the Castle Lake. Great way of meeting old and new friends in the beautiful setting of the Castle Lake Demense. The plan is to meet up, once a week to discuss and have a chat regarding the chapters you have read and talk about how the story is developing. This group will meet—weather permitting. All welcome.

East Cavan Gaels GAA Club -Hurling News 24^th  October 2022Seniors; The opportunity for redemption for the Seniors as the League Final is scheduled for this coming Saturday at 4pm, venue tbc. Under 13/15/17; A great win for the U13s in the final v Mullahoran. They started a bit slowly but grew into the game and once in their stride the result was never in any doubt. An exemplary bunch of lads who keep improving year on year. The very hard and challenging start to the year got its just reward for sticking with the project by winning the league. Special thanks to Pat and Marcella for their considerable work in bringing the lads to this point and to all our player parents who made all the trips, especially the long trips throughout the year. Nights like Monday make it all worthwhile. Thanks to Keith Greene and Mark O’Rourke from Cavan GAA who ensured we got the main pitch at Kingspan Breffni to showcase the lads skills. Well done to all. Enjoy the break and we’ll plan our attack for 2023!! Under 7/9; The indoor season is well up and running now and the boys are really getting into their stride. Now that most football activity has finished for the year we encourage our friends in the local GAA clubs to send their boys to winter with the hurlers, the more the merrier! Plenty of room for more. No training this Saturday. We return Saturday 5^th  November.

Looking forward to seeing you all at THE 17^th  GALLANT 5KM/10KM CHALLENGE: In aid of St Christopher’s Hospice, Cavan which takes place on Saturday 29^th October 2022. It is so great to be back as it has been three years since our last Challenge and we are so excited. This year’s event will as usual, start and finish at Mac Seains Bar, Cornafean and will be marked out and stewarded along the route to guide you along the way, to whichever distance you decide to participate in. Over the years the Challenge has been an outstanding success, raising €436,000 for this wonderful cause. There will be loads of surprises and craic on the day and it will be a fantastic day for the family.  Entry fee on the day to participate in the Challenge is voluntary. Registration for the Challenge takes place from 12 noon and the Challenge kicks off at 1pm sharp. Anyone wishing to donate to this very worthy cause can do so by leaving donations in the Village Foodstore, Crossdoney.  All donations are greatly accepted.
