Bailieborough News. September 26th 2022 . Matthew J. Cullen.
Bailieborough Christmas Lights: Christmas is a time for family and friends, good cheer, good wishes and an extra- special time for children celebrating the season and enjoying the Town being lit up. Unfortunately, we find ourselves in a position whereby there may not be any Christmas lights on the town this year. Over the past few years a group of volunteers, with mostly no business interest in the town, have been organizing events around the town such as, The St. Patrick’s Day Parade, The Midsummer Festival, The Halloween Fright Night and The Christmas Lights. As many of you are aware, The St. Patrick’s Day Parade didn’t go ahead this year, due to a lack of support from members of our community. The town’s Christmas Lights now find ourselves in a similar position which leaves us with no option but to call on the community and businesses of the town to get involved and show your support. If we get the support we need to make this happen, we will hold a public meeting and discuss how we can go forward. It is our town and everybody needs to be involved to ensure that all can enjoy The Christmas Lights, along with all the other community events that happen, so that nobody is disappointed. Be the Somebody who makes these events possible.

Niamh Crosby Comfort Room: Local man Peter Crosby, who lost his daughter Niamh, to ovarian cancer, on Sunday September 18th lastled a motorbike run from Bailieborough to St James’ Hospital to show off the new facility that their various fundraising efforts had achieved.
Niamh’s Family Comfort Room has been created in St James in her memory and as a way for her family to give something back to the hospital that looked after their daughter through her illness. Peter has organised a number of fundraisers in memory of his beloved daughter and in doing so has raised in excess of €20,000—most of which has come from the annual Niamh Crosby Easter Sunday Memorial Run.
Peter arranged a separate run on September 18th last, as he believed it is important for all the 55 motorcyclists on the day and the many others who had taken part in the runs and who also helped him fundraise, to see what their efforts had achieved.
