Pedestrian Crossing at the Model National School:

Works to get underway in early August. The Works will be ongoing for 3 weeks.

These works will also see the footpath on the opposite side of Church Street – adjacent to Church of Ireland – widened. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to exercise extreme caution while these works are in progress.

Deepest Sympathy: Deepest Sympathy is extended to wife Rose, sons Matthew and Declan, daughter Rosaleen, daughters-in-law Orla and Lorraine, sister Anne, brother Peter, grandchildren Lauren, Chloe, Rian, Michael and Aidan, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends on the death of Mattie Cahill, Copponagh, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan, who passed away peacefully at Cavan General Hospital surrounded by his loving family, following an illness bravely borne on Wednesday, July 27th, 2022. Mattie was predeceased by his parents Michael and Anna and brothers Patrick and Michael.

Mattie’s Funeral Mass took place in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kingscourt on Monday, August 1st  and afterwards, Mattie’s remains were laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.   

Pianist Needed: The St. Annes Folk Choir are seeking a pianist/keyboard player. The Choir has been in existence for thirty years and has added grestly to so many Parish celebrations. The Choir are also interested in inviting guitar players or other instrumentalists to join them. For more information, please contact the Parish Office.  

Bailieborough Walking Group: Wednesday, August 3rd – Senator Billy Fox Park/Derrygooney: (M)Walk 1.5hrs. Leaving Bailieborough Library at 6.45pm.  From Shercock travel towards Cootehill, at 3.8km turn right for Ballybay, after 1 km turn left( L80001) and continue, take next left and Billy Fox Park will be on left.

Wednesday, August 10th- Lough an Leagh.

(M) Walk 1.5hrs ( approx.) Leaving Bailieborough Library at 7.pm. Walk commences at the picnic area on Lough an Leagh at 7.15pm.

.Bailieboro Celtic A.F.C.:Players Wanted: Players wanted to join our Bailieboro Celtic AFC Girls Under 14 (2009), Under 13 (2010) and Under 12 (2011/2010) teams  for the upcoming Autumn/Winter season. Whether you dream of following in the footsteps of local International and Liverpool player, Leanne Kiernan or simply want to get involved with a great team sport, with like minded girls, then this is the opportuinity for you! Heritage Week 2022 Event – A Guided Walk through Moybologue Old Graveyard : Join us for a relaxed walk and talk through Moybologue old graveyard as we explore the origins of this historic and tranquil place in our local community. From the arrival of the earliest peoples to the area after whom the place takes it’s name, through less peaceful times, to the array of modern-day wildlife and biodiversity that both inhabit and pass through the site on a daily and nightly basis, Moybologue old graveyard never fails to reveal something new to the visitor, something previously unknown, and has deservedly held a special place in the hearts and memory of our local community for generations. This event will take place on Saturday, 20th  August 2022 from 14:00-15:00.  All welcome.

Blessing of the Graves in Moybologue: The Blessing of the Graves in Moybologue will take place on Sunday, August 21st after the 10.00am Mass in Tierworker.

The Blessing of the Graves in Killann Old Cemetery will take place on Saturday, August 20th at 7.30pm. Mass afterwards in St. Annes Church, Killann at 8.30pm.

The Blessing of the Graves will take place in St. Annes Cemetery, Bailieborough on Sunday, September 4th at 12 noon.

Cavan Sports Partnership : Open water swimming for women. Info and booking links on our website:   http://www.cavansportspartnership.ie/Default.aspx… 3 week programme (2 evening sessions per week) coming to 4 locations this August led by experienced Cavan water safety instructors. One of these locations will be at the Bailieborough Town Lake, with classes commencing on Tuesday, August 9th at 7.00pm. Booking for these classes is essential. Beginners: Intro to open water, improve confidence and technique. Advanced: Improve technique, confidence and distance in open water.

Community Fun Day on Sunday, August 21st at 2.00pm: A Little get together for all in our community with fun and games for kids to include Bouncy Castle, Face Painting, Outdoor games, Music and Refreshments. Come and have a chat and a cuppa with your neighbours get to know all the people in your community. Over the last 2 years with covid we have not held a proper event, so it’s time to get back in touch. Free Event, everybody is welcome.
