Darkness into Light, Bailieborough:A massive thank you to everyone involved in making Saturday’s  morning a very special start to the  day by walking/running in Darkness into Light 2022, the businesses who decorated their premises or donated, the homes who showed their support, the stewards and local Gardai, those who helped with providing refreshments and who donated food, DJ Gareth for the music at the start and finish, Brian Reynolds who performed outside Terra, our local branch of The Red Cross who had a busy morning, not forgetting Nomad Coffee who provided free tea and coffee and last but not least Fr. Ultan and the parish who provided the venue without which our event wouldn’t happen. Here’s to 2023!

Leaving Bailieborough Library at 6.45pm. Walk commences at 7.15pm at the car park on the Cootehill to Rockcorry road R188.  1 kilometre from Cootehill on the right before Abbott’s factory.

Wednesday, May 18th  – Dun A Ri  Forest -Kingscourt

{M} Walk 1 hour 30mins. (E) Walk 1 hr- 5km Forest Walk. Commencing at Cabra School Entrance to Dun a Ri Forest Park, Shercok Road, Kingscourt at 7.15pm . Depart Bailieborough Library at 6.50pm.  All welcome.

May—Month of the Holy Rosary: The Rosary will be recited at the Grotto on the Virginia Road for the month of May, at 7.30pm. No Rosary on Saturdays. Please come and join in prayers for peace in the World, especially in the Ukraine, for all the sick, for vocations and your own intentions. Everyone welcome.

Library: Very happy to announce May’s Reading Group Selection: ‘Panenka’ by Ronan Hession!

The next meeting will take place on Thursday, June 2nd  from 6.30 – 7.30 PM. All are welcome and copies of the book are available in the Library.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION: Congratulations to all the boys and girls of Tunnyduff School who made their First Holy Communion in West Knockbride on Saturday last, 7th May.

First Holy Communion will take place in St. Brigids Church, Knockbride East on Saturday morning next, May 14th  at 11.00am. 

Bailieborough Creative Hub: Bailieborough Creative Hub are hosting an event  for this years ‘Cruiniu na nOg’. Over four Saturday workshops (May 21st, 28th and June 4th and 11th, from 11am to 1.00pm) in Bailieborough Library. The ‘Art’ of Visual Storytelling project aims to celebrate local stories, history, myths and folklore from Bailieborough, Co. Cavan in ‘Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands’. Artists from Bailieborough Creative Hub will guide the children through a selection of ‘stories’ to discover some history, myths and folklore, introduce them to design processes, start an Art journal, experience a selection of mixed media and a variety of creative techniques with the aim of producing a final artwork, which will be exhibited.

The Workshops are for children aged 9 to 16 and are FREE—however, children will be expected to attend all four workshops to complete their Artwork. To book a space, please email: bailieboroughcreativehub@gmail.com

 Irish Red Cross: UKRAINE CRISIS APPEAL: Countless lives in Ukraine are being torn apart by violence and insecurity. Displacement, trauma, and separation from loved ones, will have devastating consequences on the people of Ukraine.

Healing Service: A Healing Service, with Eddie Stones will take place in the Kilmore Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Cullies, Cavan on Friday, May 13th  at 7pm. Mass will be celebrated by  Fr. Peter Okpetu MSP. Confessions available on the night. All welcome. 

Link Credit Union: Have you a child moving from 6th class to 1st year in Secondary School this September? East Cavan Swim Club: Great weekend for our five swimmers at the Swim Ulster Long Course Championships which took place at the Bangor Aurora Leisure Centre .

Well done to Anna Behme, a great achievement for our youngest qualifier in this prestigious event in Ulster swimming and to Johann Behme, Oscar Longmore, Finn Longmore and Katie Mulvey, all qualifying for the finals in their events

Bailieborough Craft Club: Meetings take place every Friday, upstairs in the Library from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Looking forward to seeing everyone and new members most welcome.            

Walk, Jog or Run: Bailieborough Chapel Carpark, Chapel Road (Lakeside), every Monday and Wednesday from 8.00pm to 9.00pm, for all levels of fitness. Other activities available—weather permitting. Bailieborough Men’s Shed: Men’s Shed is open every Tuesday morning from 10am till 1pm at the Beckscourt Centre. New members are always most welcome.  

Rhythmic Dance Twirlers: Beginner classes take place every Wednesday evening from 5.00pm to 6.00pm, in the Courthouse, Lower Main St, Bailieborough. Boys and girls aged 4 and up, are welcome to join us. Contact, Kelly Clarke for further information.
