‘Operation Transformation’ 2020: Week two done and dusted!! Another fantastic turnout with over 400 people taking part.

Weigh in completely optional from 6:30pm. We would love to see you any Thursday evenings you are available. You will be more than welcome.

Everyone must sign in each week so we can keep a record of numbers per week. This is for Ireland Lights Up.

Donation buckets for Bailieborough Cancer Comfort will be at the sign in desk and are completely Voluntary.

We have fitness and nutrition experts there in the form of Tony Gregory, Aodhagan Fox and David McCabe. Any queries I’m sure they would be more than happy to help.

And finally, you don’t have to be following the OT Food plan to join the walks. This is about getting out and moving. For some it’s for weight loss, fitness, mental health and even some company on these long January evenings.

Deepest Sympathy: Deepest Sympathy is extended to sister, Frances Clarke, carer and grandniece Marie, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and extended family and friends on the death of

Anne Lynch, 2 Columbia Terrace, Kells, Co. Meath, and formerly of Urcher, Bailieborough who passed away peacefully, at St Colmcille’s Nursing Home, Kells on Thursday, January 9th, 2020. Anne was predeceased by her sister Bridget and brothers Johnny and Patrick. Anne’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Colmcille’s Church, Kells on Saturday, January 11th with burial afterwards in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Bailieborough.

Bridge takes place in the Hotel Bailie on every Tuesday evening and new members are always most welcome.

 Industrious Bailieborough: The book ‘Industrious Bailieborough is still available for sale, in Kevin Smiths and Halls on Main St. and Smiths Shop at Galbolie.  The book costs  €10.

Regretted Death: Deepest Sympathy is extended to Jimmy and Eugene Fox, daughters in law Rose and Edel, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters in law, nephews, nieces and extended family, neighbours and friends on the death of Annie Fox (nee Tormey), Dunena, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 9^th, 2020. Annie was predeceased by her husband Benny.  Annie’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Anne’s Church, Bailieborough on Sunday, January 12^th with burial afterwards in St Brigid’s Cemetery, Knockbride West (Tunnyduff).

Bailieborough Heritage Society: Bailieborough Heritage Society’s Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday 22^nd  January 2020 at 7.30pm in the BDA, Businness Centre, Shercock Road, Bailieborough.  Followed by ‘A Noggin of Hell-Fire: Parish Missions in the diocese of Kilmore 1850-1900’, a lecture by Fr. Ultan McGoohan P.P at 8.30pm. Everyone welcome to both events. Refreshments will be served.

 Run, Jog, Walk or Crawl!! Its the start of a New Year.  Run, walk, crawl or jog starts back on Monday and Wedensday nights at 8pm from the Community Centre, Bailieboro.  All weathers, all abilities catered for. Don’t be afraid.  Tea, coffee, water and fruit afterwards.  Pass the word and give it a try!!

Photography Exhibition: ‘Welcome to Graceland’ – a documentary photography exhibition by Suella Holland, will remain on view until February 13^th during Library opening hours! All welcome.

Bailieboro Celtic A.F.C.: The Club’s Annual General Meeting will take place at the Club Rooms, The Vale on Friday, 31^st  January at 8pm.

Bailieborough Mid-Summer Festival and Town Events: Thanks to all the people that came out during the past week and took down the Christmas lights and stored them away for another year. Thanks to Kinnear Construction and McCullagh Construction for the teleporters and all our electricians for all the wiring. Next event up is Ireland’s favorite. St Patricks Day. New ideas and volunteers welcome.

Bailieborough Shamrock’s Ladies: Bailieborough Shamrocks Ladies AGM will be held in the Club Rooms in St. Anne’s Park on Friday night 31^st  January at 8 o clock for all age groups, from u8 to senior. Everyone welcome, tea, coffee and bickies will be provided afterwards. Looking forward to seeing you all on the night!!

Poetry Launch: Bailieborough’s local author Fidel Hogan Walsh is launching her own book of poetry. Entitled ‘Living with Love’…… the book will be launched on Saturday 8^th  February at 7pm in the Bailieborough Court House. All are Welcome.

Bailieborough Hen’s Shed: If you would like to come along and enjoy a chat and some good company or just need to take some time for yourself, please join us on Thursday mornings from 10am to 12 noon, in Bailieborough Library. This group is open to all ladies aged 18 and over from Bailieborough and the surrounding areas. Hope to see you there!!

Citizen’s Information: The service takes place every Tuesday from 1.30pm to 2.30pm in the Library— providing information, advice and advocacy supports to everyone on Social welfare, employment, Pensions, Health, Tax etc… No appointment necessary.

 Lakelands Taekwondo and Self Defence: Due to the large numbers that have shown up for training, it has been decided to run three classes in future on Monday evenings. Children born in 2013 and 2014 will train from 6pm to 7pm, children born in 2011 or 2012 will train from 7pm to 8pm and children born in or before 2010 will be training from 8pm to 9pm. The organisers will endeavour to accommodate all children, especially those with siblings as best as they can.  Contact Vincent on 085 127 1979 for further information.

Bailieborough ‘Lend A Hand’: ‘Lend a Hand’ is for the elderly and vulnerable in the Bailieborough area. Just give us a call if you need a job done, or even just a chat. Phone Ann on 042 9694825.

Stresscontrol: Face your fears, be more active and boost your wellbeing: Stress affects us all in our daily lives. Do you want to learn ways to recognise the signs of stress and learn helpful tips to manage it more effectively? If you do, then come along to stresscontrol!! The event will commence on Tuesday, February 4^th 2020 in the Courthouse, Lr. Main St, from 7.00pm to 8.30pm. The course will run for 6 weeks—come along when you can! All welcome, free of charge, tea/coffee and biscuits provided. The course runs once a week for six weeks. Come, sit and listen!!

Bailieborough Library: Bailieborough Craft Group meet every Friday in the Library. Drop in from 10am until 1pm. Anyone interested in hand crafts, or is willing to learn, is invited to this sociable gathering. Refreshments are served in a warm, welcoming environment.
Bailieborough Hen’s Shed meets at the Library every Thursday at 10am. All ladies are welcome to this get together, just to meet, make friends and share thoughts! There are plenty of plans for 2020!
Bailieborough Library Book Club meets on the LAST Thursday of each month at 6.30pm. Book for discussion on Thursday, January 30^th is ‘Constellations’ by Sinéad Gleeson and copies are available at the Library desk.
