Bailieborough Parish Church:

Bailieborough Parish Church Concert: featuring – The Queen of Country Music—Philomena Begley, Gloria, Boxcar Brian, Liam Kelly Music and The Hot Country Band in the Hotel Bailie on this Friday 9th  November – Doors at 7.30pm – Admission €20. Tickets available at the Hotel Bailie in advance or at the door on the night.

Mondays (during term time): Badminton, Bailieborough Church of Ireland Hall; 7-8pm for primary students, 8-9pm for secondary students.

 

Bailieborough Drama Group:
Bailieborough Drama Group are currently on the One-Act Festival Circuit with ‘Smile Handsome’, by Liz O Hanlon. Charlene Cadden picked up the award for Most Promising Young Actress and the Group placed 3rd in Moat Theatre, Naas on Saturday 27th October. In Coolgreany Festival in Wexford on Sunday, the 28th, the group collected The Audience Award, as well as Best Supporting Actress for Charlene Cadden, Adjudicator’s Award went to Liz O’ Hanlon for Acting Performance and New Drama and the Group placed 2nd overall.

 

Deepest Sympathy:

Deepest Sympathy is extended to niece Helen Clarke and extended family and friends on the death of Patsy Carolan, Fairlawns Nursing Home, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan and formerly Drumooslin, who passed away peacefully in the loving care of the matron and staff of Fairlawns Nursing Home on Saturday, October 27th. Patsy’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Anne’s Church on Monday, October 29th with burial afterwards in St. Anne’s Cemetery.

 

Junior Robotics

Two FREE workshops in Bailieborough Library on this Saturday, November 10th for all children aged 7-10 years, as part of the Cavan/Monaghan Science Festival.

Workshop 1 – 2.15pm-3.15pm;

Learn it LEGO Education Junior Robotics workshop introduces students to the world of robots through the use of LEGO. Students will design, construct and modify robots, and will learn how to program their robots to carry out specific tasks, developing workflow skills, learning about logic, loops, switches, blocks and more.

 

Bailieborough Cancer Comfort Ltd:

Congratulations to Bailieborough Cancer Comfort on a superb variety concert displaying so much local talent. A big shout out to Jean and Patsy Farrelly who donated a limousine heifer which raised over €12k alone on the raffle tickets for such a wonderful cause. Congratulations to Raymond Maguire, Carrickacromin who won the prize heifer.

To all who took part, worked behind the scenes, lighting and sound, gave raffle prizes, and attended our concert over the two nights, the committee say a massive thank you !! To Patsy and Jean for wonderful raffle prize of limousine heifer …. it exceeded all our expectations.

 

Bridge:

Bridge lessons for beginners will take place in Hotel Bailie, Bailieborough, at 7.30pm, each Monday night. Everybody welcome.

 

Opening of Niamh Crosby Family Comfort Room:

Thank you to the staff and management of St. James’s Hospital for officially opening the Niamh Crosby Family Comfort room last Wednesday evening. They spoke highly of Niamh and the impact Niamh’s Room is having on the day to day operations in the clinic. Thanks to all the people who supported the fundraising events and to the people who keep Niamh’s memories alive. Her name will always be above the door and people will always remember how lovely and kind she was. Again many thanks to all from Peter, Anna Mai, Sarah Jane, Ciaran and Kate.

 

Enrolment for First Communion:

 The students in second class in St. Annes N.S., The Vale N.S. and in the Model School will be enrolled for the First Communion preparation programme at the 7.00pm Mass on Saturday evening next, November 10th.

Bailieborough Community Alert:

Meeting on Monday, November 12th at 8.00pm, in the Bailie Hotel to plan for ‘Property Marking Machine’. The machine will be available from Wednesday, November 28th to Tuesday, December 4th. Bailieborough Mid-Summer Festival and Town Events.

‘Santa’ and the Christmas Lights will be turned on, on Saturday, December 1st at 5pm.

 

Mass of Remembrance:

The Annual Mass of Remembrance for all those who have died from the local community and for their bereaved families will take place on Saturday evening, November 24th in St. Anne’s Church at 7.00pm.

 

Drumkeery Group Water Scheme:

Scouring of the lines is currently taking place until Friday, November 9th. This may cause some disruption to member’s water supply. Should any problems arise, please contact the Maintenance Officer, Seamus McCabe at 086 0466188. We regret any inconvenience this may cause.

 

Oil Painting Classes for Adults:

St. Vincent DePaul ‘Fashion Show’:

The Bailieborough branch of the St Vincent’s de Paul are hosting a ‘Fashion Show’ on Thursday 29th, of November at 7.30pm in the Hotel Bailie. Tickets for the event are €10 and your support would be greatly appreciated.

Also Disco until late after the show.

St. Vincent DePaul Appreciation Day: Complimentary Tea/Coffee and cake will be available between 12 noon and 4.00pm in Vincent’s Shop, Main St. on Friday next, November 9th. You are most welcome to call in!

The service continues on every Tuesday, at 1.30pm in the Library— providing information, advice and advocacy supports to everyone on Social welfare, employment, Pensions, Health, Tax etc.  No appointment necessary.

  East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Hurling News 5th November 2018

Under 7/9/11; We start this coming week in Kingscourt Community Centre on Thursday 8th from 7-8pm for all U7/9/11 and Bailieborough on Friday 9th tbc in the Community School Sports Hall U7/9 6-7pm and U11 from 7-8pm. €3 each per session please.

Under 13; These lads are now finished for the year. We would like to thank them for their commitment this year and congratulate those who won both Feile and U15 league this year. Lots of promise in this squad which we hope will continue into 2019. Thanks to our coaches Colin, Ben and Willie for all their work all year.

Under 15; One more round of Ulster blitz and long season finished for these lads also.

Senior; Unfortunately the upcoming U20 football championship put paid to our final group game against Cootehill. We have really enjoyed putting out our first adult side and the lads themselves have really enjoyed pulling on the ECG jersey. We hope to expand this squad into 2019 by recruiting even more local adults to join the squad and the addition of even more of our own “home grown“ players going forward. Thanks to Pat and Kathryn for their dedication to getting this finally off the ground and thanks to our players for their commitment. Roll on 2019.

Foundation Hurling course; Special thanks to all our coaches who completed their Foundation Award on Saturday last in Kingscourt. Thanks to Keith Greene and Pauric Dowdall from Cavan and Ulster GAA for their excellent work in providing the course in a fun way. Lots of activities for our coaches to work on. Well done to all.
